Museo Antropogeografico

Sezione del Paesaggio umano

Housed in the areas of the complex and of the cloister of Saint Francis, the Anthropology-Geographical Museum of Amandola is commonly known as “Museo del Paesaggio”, (“The Museum of Landscapes”) representing an excellent starting point to discover the territory of The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains. Through a path marked by alternations of images and multimedia experiences which represent the complexity of the relationship between the elements of the territory, the Museum projects the visitors on an interactive journey of investigation and discovery of the contents exhibited, clearly legible at the exit of the Museum with the words written in the landscape. The Museum is divided into various rooms, in each of which you can delve into a different aspect of the landscape of the Park. The Section “the Landscape of Biological Diversity” represents the natural structure of the Park, with the geological formations, the botanical associations and animal presences. The “Human Landscape” analyses the marks left on the environment by the work of men and their settlements, from Roman times to monasticism, up to contemporary models. The result of the integration between man and nature is visible in the rural landscape shaped by the peasants, the copses and meadows, designed by the charcoal-burners and the shepherds, those areas made sacred by the monks. The area of “the Landscape and its Representation” shows in depth how the myth, the cinema and the arts in general have been able to grasp and communicate the various aspects of the territory. In the last theme, “the Landscape of the Future”, the new scenarios and development projects of the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains are clearly outlined. The complex also accommodates the House of the Park in which environmental education activities are conducted and wherein visitors are provided with the necessary information for the correct enjoyment of the area of the Park.
