SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Missouri State clawed its way back from a 16-point irst-half de icit to take the ifth-seeded Fighting Irish to the wire before falling in overtime, 69-65. Jenni Lingor sparked a 14-4 MSU run to end the irst half, cutting Notre Dame’s lead to just six points at the break. The Lady Bears tied the game at 46 with 9:06 remaining in regulation. Kari Koch and Lingor led the way for MSU with 15 points apiece, and Stephanie Busbey came off the bench to tally 10 points.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Despite a valiant irsthalf effort that included a 10-point lead, the Lady Bears came up on the short end of a 73-52 loss to 11th-ranked Purdue in the irst round of the NCAA Tournament. Kari Koch’s steal and layup at the 9:19 mark of the irst half gave MSU a 22-12 lead, but Purdue responded with a 14-3 run to close the half with a 32-27 advantage. The Lady Bears struggled to generate any offense in the second half, shooting just 28.6 percent from the loor. Purdue had four players inish in double igures, including Aya Traore, who turned in a game-high 20 points and 11 boards.
