PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Senior Tara Mitchem exploded for a career game as the ifth-seeded Lady Bears knocked off 12th-seeded Toledo Rockets in the irst round of the NCAA West Regional. Mitchem was 13-of-20 from the ield and drained all 12 of her free throw attempts. Her 40-point performance was the ifth-best in NCAA Tournament history and tied for the third-best in West Regional play. PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Jackie Stiles returned to form as Missouri State upended fourth-seeded Rutgers, 6053, in the second round of the NCAA West Regional. Stiles led the way for MSU, scoring 32 points and connecting on 16-of-19 free throw attempts. MSU outscored the Scarlet Knights from the foul line 21-4, and enjoyed a 38-24 advantage on the boards.The win sent the Lady Bears to their irst Sweet Sixteen appearance since 1993. NCAA West Regional Semifinal March 24, 2001  Spokane, Wash. Spokane Arena SPOKANE, Wash. — Missouri State overwhelmed the ifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils, 81-71, in the West Regional semi inal to advance to the Elite Eight for the second time in school history. MSU scored 45 second-half points to rally for the victory after trailing by six points at the break. Jackie Stiles registered the fourth-highest single-game scoring total in NCAA Tournament history with her 41-point effort. Tara Mitchem chipped in 17 points, and Carly Deer grabbed a game-high 11 boards as MSU enjoyed its best shooting night of the tourney, connecting on 28-of-56 (.500) ield goal attempts.
