At Missouri State: Enterning his fourth year in the program, Spangenberg is expected to become a veteran leader for the team after starting all 19 matches in goal last season. 2011: Despite setting a record for the fewest saves in a season (44), Spangenberg vaulted into third place on the career leaders list for goals against average (0.93). He sported an overall record of 9-8-2 and recorded six shutouts along the way. His most impressive shutout came against No. 4 Creighton at Plaster Field (Oct. 12) as the Bears won their first-ever match against a topfive opponent. Spangenberg was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week on two separate occassions: Oct. 17 and Nov. 7. 2010: In 2010, Spangenberg earned his first letter while backing up MLS Columbus Crew draft pick Alex Riggs at goalkeeper. He saw action in just one match and helped preserve a 3-0 shutout against IUPUI (Sept. 12). 2009: Spangenberg redshirted his first season on campus. Trevor Spangenberg at Missouri State Year

Background: Spangenberg had an outstanding prep career at Boone Grove High in Valparaiso, Ind., where he started every game of his four-year high school career at goalkeeper. As a senior, he led the Wolves with 12 shutouts and a 0.27 GAA en route to an undefeated season with a 15-0-1 record and a conference championship. For his efforts, he was named team captain, team MVP, first-team all-conference in both the Northern Indiana Conference and Porter County Conference, top player in the Northern Indiana Conference and first team all-area. He also played on the Chicago Fire Juniors during the club season. As a junior, he recorded 10 shutouts and a 0.62 GAA to finish 13-3-1 on the way to first team all-conference honors. His sophomore season, he finished ranked in the top 10 in the state with a 0.76 GAA. Personal: Trevor Matthew Spangenberg is the son of John and Melinda Spangenberg. He was born on April 21, 1991, in Mesa, Ariz. He is majoring in criminology.
