STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Missouri State gave the 16th-ranked Auburn Tigers all they could handle in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before falling 78-74. MSU led for most of the first half before succumbing to Auburn’s superior size and strength late in the contest. The Tigers cashed in at the foul line, knocking down 26-of-27 (.963) free throws. Lori Nero was a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity stripe to lead Auburn with 23 points. Jackie Stiles led all scorers with 30 points, and Carly Deer tallied 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State raced to a 45-28 halftime advantage and never looked back to knock Missouri State out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round. CSU connected on 38-of-48 free throws in the game and was led by Becky Hammon, who had a game-high 30 points. Jackie Stiles poured home a team-high 28 points for MSU to break her own school single-season scoring record. Senior Roshonda Reed pulled down six rebounds against the Rams, pushing her MSU single-season record total to 320. MSU hit on just 1-of-13 attempts from three-point range and matched a school record by committing 36 personal fouls.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — In a game that featured 10 ties, the seventh-seeded Lady Bears moved on to the second round of the West Regional with a 72-70 win over 17th-ranked UC Santa Barbara. MSU’s defense limited the Gauchos to just 2-of-16 shooting from three-point range. Jackie Stiles led Missouri State with 18 points and Roshonda Reed grabbed eight boards to help MSU advance to the second round of the tournament for the sixth time.
