Brief Industrial Profile of Aurangabad District 1.
General Characteristics of the District 1.1
Location & Geographical Area.
Aurangabad District is located mainly in Godavari Basin and its some part towards North West of Tapi River Basin. This District’s general down level is towards South and East and North West part comes in Purna – Godavari river basin. The Aurangabad district’s North Longitude ( Degree) is 19 and 20 and East Longitude (Degree ) is 74 to 76.

Topography :
The location of Aurangabad is on 74 to 76 Degree East longitude and 19 to 20 Degree North latitude forms the part of the vast Deccan plateau all of India and is divisional head of Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. The total area of Aurangabad region is of 10107 Sq. km. and is 3.28 % of total state. The district is surrounded by the East: Jalna district, West: Nasik & Ahmednagar, North: Jalgaon District and South Beed district. .

Availability of Minerals : No minerals available in the District

Forest: In Aurangabad district total Forest Area is 135.75 Sq.Km. As
compare to Maharashtra the forest area of Aurangabad is 9.03%.

Administrative set up: Aurangabad district has 9 Tehsils viz. Aurangabad, Sillod, Vaijapur, Paithan, Soigaon ,Fulambri, Gangapur, Kannad, Khultabad. At the District level, Collector is the Administrative Chief and at Tehsil level, Tehsildars are looking after the administration as per Collector’s instructions. For Rural development, Chief Executive officer of Zilla Parishad and at block level, Block Development Officers are in charge of the administration. Municipal Corporation for Aurangabad & Municipals Councils for other Tehsils are responsible for urban development of all the Tehsils. There are 9 Panchayat Samities and 6 Nagar Parishads.

Information technology sector The IT sector promotion was initiated in Aurangabad since year 2003 along with the formation of HTPI office and IT park in Chikalthana in vicinity to Pune and Mumbai. Good educational base, existence of local IT units and industrial maturity of the city due to manufacturing segment, low cost of operation are plus point of the city for the future IT sector growth. i)
Currently, around 22 IT units are operational employee 2500 professionals. The city has 6 registered HTPI, 100% EOUs exporting services worth Rs, 7 crores per year to USA, Germany, Neatherland, among others.

Auto Cluster Under IIUS scheme Min. of Commerce and Industries. 5.General issues raised by industry association during the course of meeting: • Lack of awareness of Govt. Schemes pertaining to NMCP schemes • Bankers avoid accepting the cases under CGTMSE especially for the new entrepreneurs and insisting for the collateral security. • Local association MASSIA wishes to have representation on National MSME Board as there association is working since 47 years. • They also need nomination on local Governing Body of IGTR Aurangabad to raise their issues with Indo German Tool Room. • They need interest subsidy @ 5%. • Lower the income tax rates for MSME 10% lower side when compared with the corporate sector. • Higher rate of depreciation on Plant & Machinery. • Recommendations to add provisions for implementation of Timely payment of MSMEs. • Increase the limit of CLCSS from 15 lac to 75 lac. 49
