Earlier this season, Morningside defeated Jamestown in Jamestown 77-70 in the middle of a three-game win streak. 2023 Game Notes

Head Coach: Jamie Sale (23rd season) In more than two decades at Morningside, Sale has established himself as one of the elite coaches in the nation while raising the Mustangs’ women’s basketball program to national prominence. Sale, the fifth active National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ head coach to reach 600 total victories is the winningest women’s basketball coach in Morningside history. He has also established his teams as perennial contenders for a national title, with the majority of his season’s concluding at the NAIA national championships. Sale was named the NAIA Division II National Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2009, and 2015 after he guided the Mustangs to NAIA II National Championships in each of those seasons. His 2008-09 team finished with a perfect record of 38-0 to become only the second team in history to capture the NAIA Division II crown with an undefeated record after they defeated Hastings College 68-63 in the National Championship Game.

Head Coach: Thad Sankey (4th season) Thad Sankey is in his fourth season as University of Jamestown head women’s basketball coach. The Jimmies went 15-11 overall and 12-10 in the GPAC in 2020-21, qualifying for the GPAC quarterfinals. Hannah DeMars was named an honorable mention All-American by the NAIA and the WBCA while earning GPAC first-team allconference honors. Kia Tower was a second-team GPAC selection, and Noelle Josephson was honored as tri-Defensive Player of the Year. The Jimmies also earned WBCA NAIA Academic Team Honor Roll recognition. In 2019-20, the Jimmies finished 16-15, including a 71-69 win over then No. 7 Dakota Wesleyan at home. Sankey notched his 100th career coaching victory with a 7167 overtime win over Briar Cliff on January 15. DeMars and Tower were named GPAC honorable mention allconference.
