13 WILL of JOHN ARVIN Lunenburg, VA Recorded in Will Book 3 Pages 94-95 Date: 18 February 1781 In the name of God, Amen, I, John Arvin, being in sound mind and memery, thanks to God for I do make this my last will and testament. First I give my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with, I leave in the following manner. I leave my hole estate, both real and personal to be equally divided among my wife and four children at the time my youngest son comes of age and not to be meddled with before but continue in my wife’s possession and I do appoint my wife, Mary Arvin, executrix, February 18, 1781. At a court held for Lunenburg County, VA. The 13th day of December 1782. The within written last will and testament of John Arvin, deceased, was exhibited in court by Mary Arvin, executrix, therein named was proved by oath of two of the witnesses. Thereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said executrix who made oath according to law, certificate is granted her for obtaining a probate of the said will in (cue form?) she giving security whereupon she together with Anthony Fullilove and Thomas Sadd, her security entered into and acknowledged Bond according to law.
