29 hat on the ground and reached down to pick it up-the saddle girth broke and "Cager", saddle and all landed on the ground. Rachel was such a pretty, neat, little thing and Cager was so tall. They were the long and short of things certainly. ...................................... Rachel Edith Robertson Opal Dean remembers Aunt Peggy. Pearl Almer Robertson was certainly the rebel of the family and my favorite aunt. I thought this poem of hers would be a good way to begin Grandpa Frank's family. From a thin volume of poetry which Aunt Peggy wrote. The book is called, "Memories". MEMORIES The memories of our old home Grow dearer as the years go by Sometimes they leave us smiling But oft' a lonely sigh. Dad would get the boys up when The rooster began to crow, Gather the milking pails and And off to the barn go. Mama to the kitchen The stove was getting hot, Squeeze out a pan of biscuits And put on the coffee pot. In the garden there are plenty Good things we like to eat, Beans, corn, peas, Rows of cabbages and red beets. We have so many memories We could never get all in As when uncles, aunts and cousins Came, vacation time to spend.
