In troduction H e l lo everyone, M y name is Jirno. It means tattered in a language c a l led Bengali. W h i le kids of my age play with dolls and balls, I p lay with crushed pieces of paper as I am a r a g picker. My story as told by my dear friend M r i nalini is about all the exciting things that I w a nt to do in my life. I c herish my dreams dearly. H o pe they come true one day.

Lo n e l y o n a p e a c h b o a r d p i e c e , Jir n o - T h e R a g p i c k e r p r o m p t l y sits, Cit y l i g h t s b r i g h t e n t h e s t r e e t s , An d h i g h l i g h t s t h e c r u m b l e d p a pers to pick. Pa t i e n t l y p i c k i n g t h e s c a t t e r e d filth, Jir n o p r a y s f o r t h e n e x t d a y t o be more exciting than this. Ho l d i n g a c r u s h e d p a p e r p i e c e close to his heart, He t r a v e l s t o a w o r l d f u l l o f books and stars.

Th e b i g b i s o n s h a k e s h i s h e a v y horns, To w e l c o m e J i r n o a m i d s t t h e l ush green lands.
4. Th e c u r l y h a i r e d b o y g a l l o p s on Horsy’s back To s e a r c h t h e p a l a c e o f K i n g Tuqlaq. He m e e t s t h e r o y a l M a j e s t y o n his way, An d d r e a m s o f b e c o m i n g a P r i n ce one day.
5. Slu r p i n g f r es h c o c o n u t w a t e r on a sandy beach, Jir n o r e l a x e s o n h i s r e c l i n i n g s eat. Th e m y s t e r io u s p l a n e s p o t t e d amidst the desert sky, Tr a n s p o r t e d h i m t o t h i s b e a c h y island in style. Un d e r t h e c o o l s h a d e o f l e a f y pines, Cu r l y h a i r e d J i r n o d r e a m s o f t hings undone. Bu t t h e s u d d e n n o i s e c a u s e d b y honking cars, Dis t u r b s h i s d r e a m t r a v e l a m i d s t the sun, sand and stars.
