For people who doesnt know you, where do you come from? Im from Southern New Jersey, an untouched landmark for inspirational people that I refer to as the 51st. Its my job to put us on the map! How was the hip hop scene like where you grew up? The Hip Hop scene in South Jersey, let alone New Jersey period, is very diverse. My state sits between two major cities, Philadelphia & New York, and we grasp our music and culture from both cities. However, down in South Jersey we gravitate more to the Philly culture, and we seem to inherit their deep lyrical capabilities with the finesse to be great song writers. As far as major hip hop acts from South Jersey we lack that, and always did.

8

My region is full of Independent artist fighting to make it out and enter the music industry. The fact of not having any major radio stations effected, and still to this day, effects the way music is made in South Jersey. Some artist try to duplicate the NY or the Philly sound, hoping to be excepted by those markets, and then you have the artists who have an original sound/style and seems to get overlooked by the major city outlets due to his or her not being of the norm. To be honest the Hip Hop scene in South Jersey is full of great talent, but we really have no direction or lane so you can hear many different styles here. How did you get your artist name? I actually received my name from High School football. I earned the nickname “Shake n Bake” from my peers due to

the fact that is what I did on the field. I shook em and I baked them. Then “Bake” was the shortened version people began to call me, and then Jr/Sr year of high school I added “Da Boy” in the front as a punch line for the ladies. I would ask the girls,” You dont know me, Im Da Boy?” Next the girl would reply,” No!” Then I would follow up with, “Im Da Boy, Bake!” Sounds kinda wack saying it now, but I swear back then it was a guaranteed “number getter.” How can you describe your music? Your style? First you gotta take Old School early 90’s hip hop, then add Motown Classic Soul, New School Hip Hop, Jazz, and you will get my music style called Knarley! Thats my movement, my brand, thats me, Knarley all day everyday! “Knarley” is term,

“U GOTTA LOVE ME !”

and being from Jersey, and everybody knows our shores, it was natural for me to take heed to it. I really have an unique style that I claim to be my own. I wear whatever I feel is hot I dont follow trends I make them. I remember for a while at shows people would say to me, “You dont dress like a rapper.” Now people just say, “Thats Bake on that Knarley ish!” I was a ‘fly’ dresser way before I ever wrote a rap. Dressing has always been 1st nature to me, and now my dress style has grown to be excepted by my hip hop peers as being Knarley. I can say the same for my music as well. I say whatever comes to my mind and I make songs about whatever I feel at the time. The number one compliment I get about my newest released mixtape ‘Cassette Music’ is that I make songs for everybody of all genres. To sum it all in a nutshell Im one Knarley

whatever I feel at the time. The number one compliment I get about my newest released mixtape ‘Cassette Music’ is that I make songs for everybody of all genres. To sum it all in a nutshell Im one Knarley Dude, making Knarley music, living a Knarley lifestyle. Through most of your previous songs, the public discovered that love for old school Hip Hop. Can you tell us more about that? I love Soul/Jazz, I love Old School Beats, and I love telling stories. In todays music its usually catchy hooks and the verses you just repeat what you said in the previous verse a different way, on beats with a lot of bass. What I attempt to do is tell a story in my music over smooth beats with a Jazz or Souls feel to them. Whether its fiction or non-fiction I try

to entertain my listeners with a musical visual that takes them to an imaginary place. Kind of like when you read a good book, and you can visualize everything that you are reading as you read it. You make a movie in your head. What a lot of artist dont understand is that all people can gravitate to a great story line, and thats what Hip Hop used to be like in the Old School story telling.

“When Hip Hop was first created, it was all bout fun back in the 70-80s, then the 90s it turned more street. So lets adapt to the new swing of things...”

Was your ATL musical experience a changing-moment in your music career? ATL is a great city and I had the pleasure of performing there twice! It was a changing moment in my career because it taught me a big lesson, “Dont Believe The Hype!” In Jersey, we stereotype Atlanta and the rest of the South as a region for Dance Songs and Lollipop Hip Hop music. However, I met artists who can really spit as good as any lyricist here in the east, and I learned they are smart enough to make the music that the current audience wants to hear. I took that as a HUGE lesson learned. Its not always about trying to be the guy with the deepest lyrics and hardest bars. Sometimes you just have to give the people what they want. If they want to dance well help them dance. If they want to cry well give them a reason to cry. If they want to have a drink, give them a song they can drink to. Atlanta is a city of great Hip Hop knowledge and Im glad to have received a piece of it. How did you hook up with artists like Jackie Chain &Mike Bless? To hook up with notable artist like Mike Bless and Jackie Chain, it first started with my grind. People dont want to work with people who dont put in work on their own time, so first it was my work ethic. In result to my heavy grind a DJ by the name of DJ Kaze from Wisconsin who I was introduced from by Coast 2 Coast mixtapes/ DJs CEO Lil Fats, hit me up and telling me how much he respects my grind and anything I ever need help with to hit him up. All I used to do was send my new records to Kaze and ask him to critique them for me and if he liked them to add them to one of his DJ mixtapes. One day, out the blue, Kaze hit me with a record from Mike Bless called “She On One.” I had first heard of Mike from a mixtape that we were both featured on and I said yea Im on it. DJ Kaze is a Slip N Slide DJ as well so thats how he had the inside connect on that. As far as Jackie Chain it pretty much was the same deal. Kaze hit me up saying that he feels we (Jackie Chain and I) would sound dope on a track together and we should make it happen. Kaze set it up and I had a record that I felt Jackie would kill, sent it over and then we gave birth to “Hip Hp Blues.”

You’ve been doing different mixtapes, do you feel thats the best way to market your music? I do feel mixtapes are the best way for an artist like myself to market music. Im not an artist looking for a record deal, Im more interested going the indie route similar to Tech N9ne. In my opinion the money is in touring not album sells. Not to mention who will buy your music if they are unfamiliar with who you are as an artist. Mixtapes allow me to get my music out to many DJs and listeners in a hurry and grasp there interest in the process. Thats how the promoters get in touch with me and then Im booked for a gigs. I use mixtapes as promotional tool and advertisement for my Knarley brand. When promoters book artist they dont care if you have hot music they worry about will people come out to the show and support your movement. Since I flooded the internet with free music I’ve become very familiar to a lot of listeners which in return gets me slots at different events and concerts. Do you work with european artists? How do you develop all those connects out of USA? I work with a lot of European artist! To be exact I work with artists, models, DJs, and promoters all under my International Movement called VERDIENER. Verdiener is a German word that means “to earn money” in English. Within my movement we work together with promotions, songs, booking gigs, etc all via the internet. I love the internet because with a click of a button you can be in Japan in 5 seconds. The game has gone viral have you? What is YAUW (Young Adults United Worldwide)?Tell us more about that. YAUW is my International Outreach Program that is a acronym for Young Adults United Worldwide. The purpose of YAUW is to expand Urban American culture through music. Its geared to individuals 16-30 years old that aspire to be musical stars, but seem to have a hard time doing so because of their social status. In America, we are perceived to all be rich and being part of the music industry comes easy.

The stereotypes of being a gangster or being blonde haired blues eyes to be an American Musician, the hard 9-5 working artist or college student seems to be overlooked in this development process. I want to present to the world that, as Americans, we work just as hard as any other country, and most of the aspiring artist in America work regular jobs while doing so. The end of 2012 going into 2013 we begin a world tour that will carry hosts, artist, panels, and testimonies of American and Foreign artist on the struggles of chasing the music dream of success. All events will end with live concerts by Independent Artist from all over the globe. What are your different upcoming projects this year? We plan to end the year off with a bang! We have shows with Hoodie Allen, Outasight, Ricky Rude, D12, we are working on shows with Travis Porter, XV, and we end the year with a 80 day tour of Europe that begins in the UK starting November 1st. During this tour we will open for the likes of J Cole, Tinie Tempah, Rihanna, and many more. Expect to see a lot of visuals of us being overseas enjoying the European lifestyle. This tour stands to be the turning point of my career and an opportunity to put my state on the map,and my Knarley movement on the forefront. Is Hip-Hop Dead? Hip Hip is alive it can not die. Genres never die they just loose popularity at their worst. However, Hip Hop is just evolving to the more Independent scene that features music aimed at the suburban and college crowd vs the urban/hood crowd that it normally centers around. Hip Hop is well alive breathing it just takes what I learned in Atlanta, which is make the music that people want to hear sometimes. Nevertheless, doing what the people want will keep you a relevant artist. People like to have fun and killing, selling drugs, & robbing people isnt really considered to be fun by most people. When Hip Hop was first created it was all bout fun back in the 70-80s then the 90s it turned more street. So lets adapt to the new swing of things, and if you choose not to you will be left behind saying, “Hip Hop Is Dead!” By B.B BOUK

How is the Alabama Pop scene? Is it harder for an indie artist to shine? To be honest, I haven’t been in Alabama long enough to explore it. I’ve been in NY for two months, Tallahassee for one, Texas for one, LA for two weeks. I do plan on exploring it more in depth though! I don’t think it’s hard for any indie artist to shine...AS LONG AS YOU PUT IN WORK. I can’t tell you how many talented artists I’ve met that are just plain lazy. If you put in work, you will shine =) How often do you take time to talk directly with your fans? I am so in love with my fans. They’re not even like my fans, they’re more! You will never catch me without my “smart phone.” I have Facebook, Twitter and whatever else linked directly to my phone. I tweet all the time (my twitter gets a bit wild sometimes), facebook chat and just recently started a Ustream. How the fact you were adopted did influence your music? Your lyrics? Yikes, you’re going to make me over-analyze things again. This could be proof that it’s Nurture over Nature.I’m white, mexican and black. I was raised in an all white household. If you look at lyrics now: “Nigga dis” “Bitch ass hoe dat” “i’ma bad bitch this” and whatever the heck else. If I ever spoke like that in my household, I think my poop would be clean from all the soap I’d have to eat. There is such a vocabulary difference between the rap world and the “pop” world. There is a persona that the

that the rappers/hip-hoppers feel the need to portray: Gangster. Get your street cred, be hard, don’t take any ish, etc. I’m trying to explain this so it’s not a novel. I’m a bit of a rebel though, I think it’s in my DNA to break some rules. I honestly don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t had such strict parents that truly cared for my well being. I would probably be some fake gangster wannabe that What is the time storysomeone of the successful single cries every confronted me,«lol. LOVE SONG »? To answer the question in short....(after the Love Song was written my Isignificant other. paragraph above, lol), Ifor think try to be more He’s wonderful. (Look that name yourself, talk to your fans/friends and it will up on Facebook, he’s phenom!) come. When it does come, you have strict say in how things progress. Granted, my route is slower and the exact opposite of instantaneous, it’s safer and you’re no one’s puppet. You are what YOU want to be.

You just have to go about it in the right way, have a TRUST WORTHY team behind you and go out and be a go-getter! I just want to show people what life can really be about. You don’t have to stick to sterotypes just because everyone says something. I feel like people think in order to have a hot street song you need to use certain words. If you need a hot pop song it has to be about sex, drugs, and clubbing. Granted, they sell now, but I would love to make a popular song that is more uplifting and positive. It’s hard now days to do that and truly see success from that. My goal is to spread more love! Stop bullying, I absolutely hate that! Is now the best time of your life? I LOVE My life however, this sounds corny but, I do believe the best is yet to come! I’m only 21, I’m still growing, I’m still maturing and honing my craft. I refuse to take any steps backwards =) So in your perspective, let us know where will you be ten years from now in the industry? I hope to have several albums out, a loving husband, a bigger SUV full of high energy lil kids, and a nice medium sized house with a pink room full of musical instruments! Really though, I’m not going the “major” route. I like having my say on how everything goes. Independent is the way to go...plus I love money and being independent gives you much more of it ;-)

For people who don’t know you, how long have you been singing? How did you get into music? I have been singing all my life. My mom used to have me sing to the songs from “The Sound of Music” and do all of the harmonies and everything. I was about 3 years old then. What gives you your inspiration in your songs? I try and grab inspiration from everything I do or what I see people doing in life. I have gone through a lot of ups and downs, both as a musician and student, but I never let anything slow me down or get me discouraged. I simply use my experiences as the fuel for my writing and as the motivation behind the emotion in my voice. Tell us a little about your name and your movement « ABOVE THE NOTES »? It’s a small label in terms of numbers of people, but we’re doing major things. Our Lead Artist, Adair Lion, is doing HUGE things on the underground scene right now. He’s a rapper/ singer who has a positive outlook on life and is all about giving back. DJ Frank Dux and our drummer, T Dot Ace, are both amazingly talented and committed to being a positive impact on the community and the music scene as well. Our A&R, Louie Rubio, has a strong passion for music and demonstrates that by teaching break

dancing to underprivileged children. And then, of course, there’s me. I’m very positive and give back as much as I can, just like the rest of AboveTheNotes. Adair and Dux started the label because they felt that what they were doing was more than just music. They added Louie, Tony and myself because we fit into what their vision of AboveTheNotes should be: More than just music, we are all about servitude and giving back what we can to our communities! Have you received interests from bigger labels? AboveTheNotes has received a couple of offers from major labels, but they weren’t willing to give us the control we wanted, so we had to pass. We are still waiting to hear back from a couple other major labels, but we’re not overly concerned with that. We would rather do solely distribution through a major label, so that we maintain artistic control of what we do. Please describe Siah S’ World? Ahhh, a day in the life of me! It’s funny, I feel I’m busy enough to keep myself entertained for only a few days, but other people think that what I do is ridiculous. I wake up around 6 or 7 am, go to class until around 2pm, then hit the studio and do some writing. After that, I oftentimes go back to school for fraternity meetings more writing, networking and homework!

(I am the current President of Theta Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi). My world is pretty intense; I write for and with artists all over the world. From the Rebelizm movement in Japan to Cat Stewart in the UK, from MainBeatz in Cali to local artists in about 15 other states, I am literally working on an international scale…it’s crazy! What are your main goals as an artist? I want people to be familiar with my music, but to know me as a songwriter and not just a performer. That’s my ultimate goal. I want people to know that I earned the College Songwriter of the Year (2010) in Texas for a reason. What do you have for us in the coming months? The next couple months are going to be huge for me. I have a track I’m featured on called ‘Radio ‘with Adair Lion that’s climbing the charts right now! I also have collabs coming out with several artists to include: Chancy Robinson (a gospel singer from Cali), Joshua Sharpe (a pop singer from Cali), and Doxamillion (artist from Miami). I am also working on getting a couple of features from big name stars out of the UK. My first single, through AboveTheNotes ENT, will be hitting radio stations by the end of this year. In my life, I stay busier than usual, but it’s all worth it! Definitely keep up with me by following me on twitter @The_Real_Siah or visiting my website, www.siahs.com.

What made you want to sing? I would always write random lyrics even when i was little, then the people around me and myself realized i had a strong voice for a little girl. Where do you come from and how did you get the name of CASSIE CARDELLE? My full name is Cassandra but Cassie has always been my nickname Tell us more about your label CARDRX entertainment? Who is involved in it? It will eventually be a label but right now it is in the works of launching and starting off somewhat small working with great talent and down to earth people. What is the inspiration behind the video single « JUST LET ME »? I just wanted to do a sexy song that the ladies and gentleman could listen to! I know you guys sometimes like it when the lady is a boss.

18

How did the fans welcome that song? What were the feedbacks? I got alot of feedback from other countries which was really cool! Alot of people said it makes them want to dance and thats what its all about! How do you want to evoluate as a female artist in this music industry? What is your ambition? I am very diverse as a person and i want to show people all the different styles that i can sing and what my voice can do. What sites or services do you use to connect with fans? How did you get the name of Jazzy Phr3sh? First name Jasmine so I was always called Jaz,Jazzy, etc. & I’ve always been told my style Is fresh, so I chose to spell fresh as phr3sh, different becuz I am a very different person. When we listen to your songs, we feel that modern pop touch. Who are the artist that influence your music? Ke$ha,TLC,black eyed peas,Amy Winehouse, katie perry, remy ma,mc lyte. How did you get into music? Growing up my brother would dress me & my cousins up as TLC & Destinys Child & we would perform their songs. Then we decided to form our own music group, we were called the lil mamas, we had this song called “Too cool for you” I was the rapper of the group, since then I would write my own music and record it over a cassette tape, as time went by I continued to write, years later I begin to record in our little home studio. What is Hollyhood747? Can you tell us more about it? Hollyhood747 is a music group which its just me and my younger brother rite now. Hollyhood is basically the definition living good in the hood. 747 is part of the address where I grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Atlanta “The Bluff” I plan to expand the group, where I would have photographers, designers,& music artist.

How did the disease of your mother impact your music? Do your lyrics are more mature now? When I found out my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, I shut down. Felt like my life was over, I stop tryna pursue my music & stayed at the hospital wit my mom day & night. I was at a dark place. When she survived, I began back with my music & here I am tryna be next! What is your opinion about the place of women in the music industry today? I feel like, now in the music industry, its easy for us females to get heard & we can produce the type of music we want and not feel like we have to censor what we say or be to provocative. Basically we can be comfortable & be ourself with our music. Why do you got next? I got next because I feel being in the music industry is where I was born to be! I’m gonna continue to work hard until I get there. I feel the music I make, I never really heard it. I got the image. I’m not cocky, but I’m next! What are your upcoming projects? I have a mixtape coming in August titled “HollyHood”! Stay tuned...

BC

How can you define your music background? After seeing how music influenced others emotions and actions, I began wanting to be apart of that influence. Poetry being my starting point, I started trying to recite my poems to beats I’d hear on the radio. It felt natural, applying all the hurt and anger I had inside of me on the topics I felt needed to be spoken on.

Who is BC as a person? Let us fans know what it is you’re trying to accomplish? As a person I am goofy, caring, but very business minded. I’ve come along way myself from being lost at one point to finding my way. God plays a HUGE part in my life.I believe my purpose is to shine light in these dark times. I hope to accomplish helping others get accomplished.

With being from Lousiana, who were your artistic/musical influences growing up? Every since I was introduced to poetry in the 6th grade, I’ve been reciting,it was a great way too escape the harshness of my surroundings. Poetry created a secret world for me,knowing as long as I had a pen and paper I could dissappear and appear in any place I wanted. Edgar Allan Poe,Maya Angelou, and the late Ai were a few of my favorite poets. The musical influence came from the feelings of hearing a song that I related to, hearing how someelse may have made it through. I knew, at a young age, that words were not just words. They had power beyond idle minds. My early musical influences were Master P, Silk The Shocker, and Mystical.

What are your upcoming projects? My main upcoming project is the “LOST IN NEW YORK” album. The concept behind the album is to encourage the mindstate of not getting caught in the struggles and pressure of the world. New York is a huge place and very diverse so it shows a good example of ways to get lost as we get lost in life.

Why do you got Next? I feel like I should be the next just because the world, now more than ever, needs more positive lyrics. I have learned that words have a strong impact on a persons mind and heart as well as soul. My songs are not to make others feel like they are less, instead they are to motivate and make a change that we all need. To anyone who was never the popular kid or never seem to have enough to overcome.I make music for them.Change is in progress.

What is the hottest verse you ever said? “Fly as a Bird and God eye is on the sparrol, wanna know just were im going, keep your eye up on my arrow. They say life is the best gift given so im living in the present like im tied too that ribbon. Who are you to say im trippin for trying to MJ this game with no Scott Pippen. Too Foes I swear the door is not locked Go! I spit flames my fire works like July 4. Times changed I went from ashy needing lotion to clashing with the titians being a beast up in this ocean.”

More less Capz is the Highest point a person can reach and i be damn if that isnt what i’m aiming for. How do you feel about the current state of HH from Oregon? Been a resident of the state for almost 5 years and my opinion is there or my rappers than fans, so that cause conflict with alot of artists and the whole showing love process. Being from queens Thats the type of atmosphere i dwell in so Its nothing to me. How do you imagine the future of Hip Hop? I think there will be a lotta On-Line labels, Its been digital for some years now. Also i’ve notice a lot of artists try to come into the game and mold there choices in tracks after they hear whats acceptable which isnt original. How did your passion for music begin? Around 6 or 7 i starting writing no lie, I use to do make the music with your mouth by biz markie beat on my moms toaster and try to kick a lil rymth hear and there. My sister also kept me up to par, being she has an amazing voice as well and her being a off the charts dancers. Please describe your sound in Three words? Pure,Poise and Purpose..... What got you into HH? The simple fact that it was a way for me to express the way I visualize my Life in my eyes. It was also an escape from reality, another form of dealing with a lot of problems and issues that got to me. But I would have to say overall the biggest factor that got me into Hip Hop is I love music period. There’s a certain feeling I get when I know I’m making good fucking music ! What gives you your inspiration in your songs? Except for the fact that I feel like the Good Lord gave me a chance to do something with myself…hmmm let me see. I don’t want to seem all cliche but Life does play a big part in my inspiration, then again I ain’t going to say Life, but My Life inspires me to do what I do, not to mention the confidence I tend to feel inside myself growing with each and every accomplish. Then of course there is family and friends, my city, my state, and the whole south. Last but not least every single person who calls themselves an artist or rapper inspires me to go as hard as I go in every song I create. How do you pick the tracks you rap on and whats your process in making a song? It can depend on how feeling at the time, maybe I can have something bothering me at the moment, or I might be listening to beats on soundclick and a beat will just hit me and I have to do it because it is what I do lol. As for my process, I don’t mean to be so blunt but you did tell me to be honest so here I go, I dont’t have to have my weed and malt liquior but I would perfer to have my weed and malt liquior, Reserve Steel 211 preferably lol. I have to have the music in the headphones as loud as I can get it without going deaf the next day, you know creating that tunnel vision. I don‘t want

to see or think about nothing other than the next hit I’m about to create hoping to be better than what I did before. I also have to feel every word and every word has to be said a certain way, so I try to pick the words I say as carefully as I can without losing who I am as a person. Who is DRAFT as a person? First I would like to say DRAFT as a person is very competitive, I take my music very serious, personal, and dear to my heart. DRAFT is really nothing out of the ordinary, just not what you would probably expect to see when you meet him in person. He’s loyal, true to himself as a person, he pushes the limits on himself everytime he’s on the microphone, he’s also his biggest critic but I think it helps because it keeps me from becoming something I don’t wanna be, which I think happens to a lot of people who get their foot in the game. I plan to accomplish everything I dream and more. For right now I plan to take Hip Hip as far as I can take it from a music stand of point, I mean what’s the point of making music if it’s nothing people want to waste their time with. With that said one of my accomplishments is to make hit after hit after hit with every beat I plant my voice on. My biggest accomplishment in the game overall is to be never forgotten for what I did for Hip Hop and everything Hip Hop stands for. I also plan to put the Westbank on the map, that half of New Orleans the world doesn’t get to see. And to be the Best and die as one of the Greatest. Why are you the Next Big Thing of New Orleans? My versatility for one, second my originality, and third my flo.

With being from Louisiana, who were your hip hop influences? With being from Louisiana, I always listening to Cash Money & No Limit records, but I was most influences by westcoast & eastcoast rap I like the cats who are lyrical the dudes who can spit. I remember having every Nas album that came out I loved Pac. I remember listening to Rakim records back in the gap like this dude is ahead of his time. I have a high respect for lyricism. How did you get the name Play-B and what does it mean? I got the name Play-B from my kinfolk GrimmT. It stands for Playboy. I was like 14 or 15 when I first started rapping I didn’t have a stage name I didn’t know what I wanted to call myself. I remember Grimm calling like yo man i’m a call you Playboy cause I always was that smooth cat I always attracted the ladies so it stuck. Thru out the years my potnas was like yo man that shits to long so they started calling me Play-B for short. Can you tell us more about your two projects “Da Kid Don’t Play” & “Gettin Mo Hustle Fast”? “Da Kid Don’t Play” is my mixtape. Its my first solo mixtape ever it’s real raw and egdy it’s basically me giving you my soul on the mic. It’s more like an album all orginal production from start to finish, I kept it in house and my cousin GrimmT. made the majority of production on it. I got a track from my lil brother C.H.O.P.P. on there called “Block Move” it’s a street banging, I got two tracks from my lil kinfolk J. Bowser on there he’s a hot young talent out of H-Town be on the look out for him dude is hot. “Gettin Mo Hustle Fast” is my ablum coming out with my lil brother C.H.O.P.P. it’s potant as hell, we kept it G we kept it street its 100 PERCENT BIZNESS to the max. We touched on all basis on there from hustling to politics to religion its a well rounded album. I think the streets will love it. What is 100 PERCENT BIZNESS? 100 PERCENT BIZNESS is my label that consists of me myself my brother C.H.O.P.P. and my kinfolk GrimmT. Its a form of living a code we live by, everything I do I try and give my all 100 percent the name speaks for itself. I handle all bizness gracefully, humbelly I try not to step on any toe’s or burn any bridges. When I first started rapping I wanted to be just that a rapper thru out the years i’ve transpariored into a business man I think thats what gives my music its potantcy I demand respect you know. A person with power can speak softly and people listen THATS ME.

Everytime I hear a verse from them I’m like damn I gotta come hard, we feed of each other it gets no better than that. My homie David J. is a R&B sensation who always coming with the clever hooks. Its hard to fall off amongst people like that. Be on the look out for the Chosen Few “Same Niggas 4 Life”.

I would give 95 percent of that to Wayne… somebody that believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself! He was telling me to write raps when I dint even know how to rap!”

Hey everybody this is Trisha for Mr. Dreamz Magazine… and today I’m in Miami with Gudda Gudda from Young Money -as u know! We want to know why you’re in Miami this weekend… I’m here for my home boy Ace Soprano video shoot ‘Money in My Pocket” I came to support the song and the video, and you know…doing a little bit of South Beach partying… Always been curious… the name Gudda Gudda? That was the nick name I had before I started rapping. My home boy gave me that nick name in the neighborhood…. and when I finally started rapping I kept it as my rap name…

30

What about meeting Lil Wayne and your encounter with him…what brought you two together? I met Wayne at a dice game about fifteen years ago… we gambled, we shot dice in my neighborhood and from there on… from that day on, we stayed in touchhe start coming out to my crib… my baby mamma would cook for us and it started to turn into a real friendship! As the years progressed he wanted to start a record label… which was Young Money and he asked me if I wanted to rap ...a I wasn’t a rapper at the time and I was like aggghh! It ain’t my thing! But he said “I’m telling you! you’ve been through a lot… you should try to write some raps life on paper!”. He said “it will be

interesting to people…” I just tried it out…and we put a couple of mix tapes out… which was the group “Squad out” and the response was crazy! So I just kept going with it…. Tell me about your music, how would you describe it? Basically at the time we were just making raw New Orleans music we called it ‘off the port’ street music… that’s the kind of music we were making back then, it’s the kind of music I’m making now but at the same time I can get into other different types of music, it’s not like I am one track minded, I aint one lane! I could do tracks with a lot of different artists and I have done tracks with other artists

in other genres of music! I do a lot of other different things… Do you think that there’s a possibility of it ever happening again? What Squad Up!? that was a seven man group, so basically I don’t think it will happen but we all still speak… though everybody’s doing their own thing right now… every member is doing solo things. One of our members is locked up right now, a lot of people doing a lot of different things... so everybody’s real busy right now! You’ll probably hear some songs from us… but as far as a reunion, a full project, I really doubt it… What about the Guddaville Project… I know that there’s third installment coming out very soon… How does it compare to the other two previous ones you’ve worked in!? Yes, Guddaville 3 is coming out real soon it will probably be out next month! Basically to me… and this is only my opinion, I feel like with every Guddaville I get better lyrically, I feel like the content gets better, I feel like all around I just grow as an artist… like my music gets better and better every time! That’s my opinion… now my fans may have a different opinion they may like my Guddaville 1 or 2 better than this one… but to ME, in this one, it just feels like I’m growing… What do you feel is the highlight of your career? What can you say is the main thing of your career? Can you tell us more! The highlight of my career probably would be having two number one singles, being on those two singles in one year… which was “Bedrock” and “Every girl” and winning awards for them, winning best cap writers award and going GOLD! That was my first time ever been retailed as an artist... I never had sold music always gave music away… that was the first time that I was part of a project that was actually retailed in stores and actually went gold… and is now approaching platinum! That’s probably the biggest thing...

Performing on BET awards was real big for me too because for someone who grew up in the hood we always watched BET … we would always watch the BET hip hop awards and say man I wish I was on there! So I was able to perform on there like a year n’ half ago… that was one of the biggest things for me… I know that YM, and the people around YM, is considered to be a big family- a big supportive function to every artist! Especially what happened with Nicky Minaj’s cousin… the tragedy around it… what happened with that…how do you feel about that? My prayers go out to Nicky and her family… Nicky is my sister I love her to death! My prayers go to her and I feel for her and her family right now… I really don’t know the details about it… and I probably wouldn’t even speak on it even if I did! I honestly don’t know the details on it… I know it’s real sensitive to Nicky… my prayers are with her always… How has it all come together for you… how have they all participated in your success… in being here where you’re at now? I would give 95 percent of that to Wayne… somebody that believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself! He was telling me to write raps when I dint even know how to rap! When I didn’t know how! I didn’t know how to write “sixteen balls”. I didn’t know what I was doing! But he looked at me and was like… “You got it! You could do it! You got something there…” and “I don’t know what it is but you got something there! You just got something!” And he always did support every move I did AFTER that! So 95 percent is Wayne and the other 5 percent goes to the rest of the group because they just motivate me every time I hear their music… it just makes me want to step up and do more because they always step up and put out great music… When I hear their music, it is motivation for me!

RIP Soldier Slim, BG, Nolimit, all that new Orleans music that u heard,, mainstream that you know of, some other underground artist that you probably never heard of...”

“Its Guddaville 2, and the first one was biblical, F-ck the bullshit I’ma leave these n-ggas miserable, Spit the hardest shit till I start to see residuals. That’s right n-gga the more the merrier, Extraordinaire. Extra-ordinary, n-gga...”

Extraordinary. Guddaville 2 the mixtape

What about the song “extraordinary” It caught us all and it was the exceptional song… the lyrics, the video looked so real, everything was so passionate, so impressive, and so deep! Tell us more about it, what can you share with us? Shout out to DJ Illwill my home boy… who hosts in all my Guddaville mixtapes (he’s going to host my Guddaville tape 3) He sent me the track produced by Kashmir Royale… Shout out to Kashmir Royale (he will be producing on Guddaville 3!)… and the hook was already on the track… the “Extraordinary” hook! The beat was so compelling it just made me go somewhere else and think! It would just be like one of those beats that made me sit n think for at least 3 weeks! Because i didn’t even write a word for the beat maybe till a week or two after that! I was listening to the beat for weeks riding in my car just listening to it, trying to feel the right words to say to the beat… it was one of those beats I knew it would be one of the ones that people would like… so I just really wanted to take my time and pin the right words to It!

other type of music! But now you got something for everybody! You got so many different new artists popping up doing different types of music… where it’s gotten healthy! So its good for any young artist who’s trying to get in to not try to follow what somebody else is doing… it’s about just doing what you do! As long as you’re making great music… the people will accept it! … And that’s just thing! That’s how I feel about hip hop right now…

So what was your inspiration!? When u were driving down the street that you wanted to come up with the lyrics for the hook what triggered everything? What really triggered and inspired you to write what you wrote? I was just feeling real good at the time because I had released my “Guddaville 1 mix tape… “Extraordinary” was on “Gudaville 2” I was just feeling good about the whole situation and I just felt extraordinary! Just like the hook! The hook really motivated everything because when I got the beat that “Extraordinary” hook was on it so that kinda’ triggered everything. I just wanted to touch upon everything that I felt extraordinary about which was being in Young Money! It’s just where I was at in my career… what I was doing… it just made me feel good! It’s just a great song… I love that song… it’s probably my favorite song- that I ever wrote!

What other artists have influenced your style? your music, everything about you? Basically rest in peace Soulja Slim, BG, Nolimit, all that new Orleans music that u heard, mainstream that you know of, some other underground artists that you probably never heard of... Shout out to The Lox, JadaKiss, Styles P, SheekLouch, JayZ, Rakim, Kool-G-Rap, so many names I don’t really want to forget anybody… but a lot of people have influenced me to do this music and there’s people that I listen to and that encourage me to write music…

What do you think about Hip Hip today? I like where hip hop is at right now because there’s so many different lanes, so many different types of artists out there! It’s not focusing on one type of artist at one given point… People were looking at only liking ‘gangster’ music at one point… at another point people liked this

32

What else in your career is coming up soon? I’m working on my album which is untitled right now, but you’re looking to hear it sometimes next year… I’m putting a lot of my mixed tapes and music in between time , also I just got a production company which is Gudda Music so I’m signing producers … so shout out to Keshown Casselle, and few other producers I’m working with, I’m trying to get on paperwork so we can go get that money !!! Get some placements out there… that was the first steps for my production company .

Well you know, just hearing you is very inspiring! You sound like you’re an inspiration to a lot of other people you may not even know of! I want to hear you say something in French… for Mr. Dreamz Magazine!? Here it is! Let’s hear you talk in French! Well I defiantly don’t speak French at all… (laughter…) Not at all! (…laughter) But Shout out to New Orleans…Bourbon Street, our whole culture! Shout out to the whole New Orleans East … Everybody out there! And yes, shout out to Mr. Dreamz Magazine… you already know!

ART is the expression of one’s self which is conveyed through various senses.”

How can you define your world in 3 words? MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I feel everyone was placed on this earth for a purpose....to make a difference somehow and have an effect on someone. How did you get in the modeling industry? When I was 3 years old, I was photographed in Spain by a photographer that was walking by. The photos were published. What are your other talents? Writing, cooking, fashion and the ability to think outside the box. What is your goal as an artist? I really don’t set my goals as an artist, but rather as a person. My goals are to live my life to the fullest without any restrictions and to enjoy every moment of it. Give us your definition of ART? ART is the expression of one’s self which is conveyed through various senses.

If you were a movie...which one? And why? Believe it or not....Clan of the Cavebear written by Jean Avel. The main character’s life sort of parallel’s mine. The character was an outcast, abandoned and had to adapt to her environment in order to survive. Which book and why? My own book which I’m in the processing of writing. I’ve lead a very colorful life and the story needs to be told. If you were animal...which one? And why? A black panther. They are quiet, observant and only become the center of attention when necessary. What are your upcoming projects? I’m on Worldcastradio.com, alongside the Legendary DJ Diamond, Monday-Thursdays, 6pm-8pm. I may also be doing some things in Atlanta....stay tuned ;) By Joha Brown
