f you’ve read my previous article (MRH Issue 9 - Sep/Oct 2010), you know that I prepared for apartment living by pre-building a series of modules while I still had access to my tools and shop in Vermont. One thing I didn’t construct, though, was the benchwork support system

for the modules. I was running low on time prior to my move, and decided to wait until I was on site and look for a local solution. My local solution, however, didn’t include a wood shop, building supply company, or a way to transport materials. After taking stock of the situation, it looked like I had three options: • Construct the benchwork supports from scratch • Contract a local carpenter to construct them for me from my design • Use something not specifically designed for the purpose, such as shelving Figure 2
