The sponsorship comes after a very successful 2015 season for Mounties. In soccer, Mounties Wanderers fielded their elite teams, with the U/14s finishing the season as minor premiers and five other teams making the semi-finals. In rugby league, Mounties were the minor premiers in both the NSW and Ron Massey
Sponsorship plays a valuable role in the promotion of Mounties Group and support for the communities in which we operate. With help from Brydens Lawyers, we hope to bring the community together again to cheer for our players at many more games in the future.

GOLF DAY A WINNER Industry leaders, community stakeholders and golf enthusiasts came together to enjoy a day on the green and make a difference to the lives of children with autism at the 2015 Mounties Group Charity Golf Day on 11 December. Mounties Group President, Kevin Ingram, presented a cheque for $35,000 to the recipient charity, the Autism Advisory and Support Service (AASS), following the successful day. The donation brought about much Christmas cheer to AASS, a charity organisation that supports hundreds of families that have a child or children with autism in the Liverpool area and beyond. Grace Fava, Founder and President of AASS, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Mounties Group. These funds will make an incredible difference to the local children and teenagers we work with. “Autism is still misunderstood by many people, and often autistic children and their parents feel isolated from their friends and the wider

community. We hope that events like the Mounties Group Charity Golf Day will help raise awareness and understanding of autism,” Ms Fava added. The action-packed day was hosted by Liverpool Golf Club and featured special guest appearances by Australian Long Drive Champion, Mark Bylsma and female golfer Kura Poko; a graduate of the Mounties Junior Golf Program at Liverpool who is about to take up a golf scholarship in the United States. Darryl Brohman aka ‘The Big Marn’ from The Footy Show entertained guests at the post-golf lunch. Thanks to major partner Scientific Games and the additional 30 corporate partners who sponsored various holes, provided all-important beverages on the day and supplied auction items and prizes that made the generous donation possible. MOUNTIES GROUP AIDS THE PATH TO SUCCESS Mounties Group is proud to boast the achievements of one of its Bocce Players at Triglav, Daniel Samsa. Under the guidance of Coach Louis Magajna, the 19-year-old has had a break-out year in 2015 with strong showings at the Australian Junior Open and the Australian Senior National Championships. Daniel took up bocce eight years ago after being introduced to the sport by his grandparents. He strives to continuously improve his skills in hope that one day he will have the opportunity to compete and win a medal in the Senior World Titles. Triglav recently provided Daniel with a $500 sponsorship to assist him in pursing his dreams to compete in two overseas tournaments. He won gold at the under-23 Denis Ravera International Challenge in Monaco following

on from his strong showing at the 2015 Bocce World Senior Titles Championships in Croatia where he ranked 11th, representing Australia. Bocce is a sport conducted at Triglav and the objective of the game is to get as many of your bocce (bigger, weighted balls) as close to the pallino (smaller target ball) as possible. If you are successful in getting your bocce closer to the pallino than your opponent, you are awarded points. Mounties Group is well-known in the community for the various opportunities it provides for sports and leisure activities for people of all ages. The fact that our members represent us in so many different sporting pursuits is testament to the importance that we place on sport, and the members who play it.

BODYPUMP™ = BONE STRENGTH Participate in BODYPUMP™ classes and you are well on the way to stronger bones! A newly released study by Les Mills and Pennsylvania State University reveals that low weight; high repetition resistance training will increase the bone density. And with 4.74 million Australians over 50 with osteoporosis or poor bone health – that’s a good thing! Study participants completed two to three BODYPUMP™ classes per week, with all experiencing up to 8% bone mineral density increases in their legs, pelvis, arms and spine. This shows particular benefits for those aged 40 or over, for whom mineral density declines at an accelerated rate. Les Mills Head of Research, Bryce Hastings says these findings turn an old theory on its head, stating “it’s often thought the heavier the weight you lift, the more benefit you get from it but that’s not always true.” Lifting very heavy weights has always presented barriers for older and untrained adults as sometimes this type of intensity can be outside the realm of their physical capabilities. “That’s why using lighter weights is so good – because everyone can do it no matter their age or experience.”
The study also found outstanding results for those with osteopenia – a condition caused by low bone density. These individuals experience significant bone mineral density increases of up to 29%. The research suggests that age is no barrier when it comes to increasing bone density with strong bones less likely to break from falls later in life. Les Mills highlights that BODYPUMP™ not only builds bone strength but its scientificallyproven moves and techniques leave the class participants feeling challenged and motivated.
