Asheville celebrates United Nations International Day of Peace, Saturday, Sept. 21 What: Observe the United Nations International Day of Peace with the Asheville Baha’i Community. When: 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 Where: WNC Baha’i Center, 5 Ravenscroft Dr., Asheville Why: The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations with the intention to “have the entire world observe a day of peace and nonviolence ” — a premise embraced by the Baha’i Faith, which has had a long-standing relationship with the United Nations in its efforts to promote world peace.
