Christmas cheer CHESTER City Mission will be holding a Christmas meal for all those who would normally be on their own for the festive season. The Mission is moving premises as part of the Northgate Development although at present final arrangements have yet to be agreed. So the current building at 6 Hunter Street will still be the venue for Christmas Day to enjoy a three course traditional meal with friendly faces to enjoy a chat and carol singing from noon. Transport can be provided for those who are unable to make their own way into the city centre. The meal is free of charge and any donations would be gratefully received. Squadron parade

HOOTON Park Squadron took part in its annual Remembrance Day Parade. The procession was led by the vicar of St Mary, Eastham, with St David’s United Reformed Church, 1123 Squadron followed with the Sea Cadets, Brownies and Scouts up to the church. Toddler Toby Williams was rushed on Wednesday morning to the children’s unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital where he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. He is currently on an IV drip following a lumbar puncture and blood tests. Doctors say he is stable, but have prepared his mother Sarah Jones and her partner Andy Gibb for the fact his condition could deteriorate if meningitis bacteria spreads to his brain. Sarah said: “He is so thin and emaciated, but his cheeks are swollen. His body was as stiff as a board. He can’t focus on anything – on Wednesday his eyes were rolling back into his head and he kept crying ‘Mam, where are you?’. “I haven’t stopped crying – I keep thinking what it he dies? Building society bid

A CITY centre building society is seeking consent for alterations to its shop front. The applications for listed building consent and planning permission have been made by the West Bromwich Building Society at 22 Bridge Street. Planning officers at Chester City Council have been told the building society is also seeking approval for new fascia signage, the redecoration of the shop front and the installation of a cash machine. A separate application has been made for consent for non illuminated signage at the branch. Comments are due by Wednesday November 28.
