DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE As I am writing this letter, it seems we are experiencing an early spring with warmer weather and the trees are starting to bloom. I am excited for the spring and summer ahead of us. As you look through this activity guide, I hope you and your family will find programs and events that peak your interests. Staff have been working for months to create a wide-range of programming which includes bringing back some of your favorites while mixing in brand new options. In addition to the spring and summer programs, we are looking forward to the completion of a few park projects while starting new ones. Here is a look at a few of the City park projects you might see around town: • •

Two new City parks, Mora Park and Pyramid Park, are set to open this spring. Rengstorff Park is about to embark on a several projects. First, the Rengstorff Park Pool will be removed and a new Rengstorff Park Aquatic Center will begin construction this spring. The Aquatic Center will feature a new pool layout, including a 25-yard by 25-meter pool, a fun pool with zero entry into the water, warm up and cool down lanes and a slide. The Rengstorff Park Aquatic Center is expected to be complete in the fall of 2023. In addition, new restroom facilities will be installed adjacent to the tennis courts and the BBQ area. Finally, we are excited to begin construction of the inclusive Magical Bridge Playground this summer. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Magical Bridge Foundation to open this new playground to the community!

To hear the latest updates for special events and City park projects, sign up for our newsletter at MountainView.gov/RecNews. I hope to see you at our programs and events in the coming months, John Marchant

Class Attendance and Registration • You’re excited and we’re excited that you’re ready to jump into an activity. Before you do, though, make sure you’re already registered to participate. Registration does not happen in class, please make sure to register online. Please note that no refund or make-up classes will be issued for any missed activity. Waitlist • Drats! You were this close to getting in! Your name will be placed on a waitlist if the class is full. At the program supervisors discretion, another class may be added to accommodate for participants on the waitlist. You will be given a 24-hour deadline to submit your Registration Form and payment. If your Registration Form and payment are not submitted by the given deadline, you will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the list will be contacted. Age/Birth Date • To register, participants must be within the required minimum and maximum age by the first day of class. All participants 17 years of age or younger must provide their date of birth. Proof of age may be requested. Transfer • Need to transfer from one activity to another? You may transfer to another activity as long as you meet the minimum age requirement, there is space available, and you send your written request three (3) business days before the first day of class. So that means if class starts on Monday, you have the Wednesday before to transfer. E-mail your transfer request to recreation@mountainview.gov. You will be assessed a $10 processing fee per visit. Withdrawal • If you need to withdraw from an activity and receive a refund, e-mail us at recreation@mountainview.gov no less than five (5) business days before the first day of class. You may also submit a Withdrawal Request Form that you can download by visiting MountainView.gov/Register. Just so we’re on the same page, if your class starts on Monday, your last day to withdraw is the Monday before that class. You will be assessed a $10 processing fee per visit. Missed a day? • Unfortunately, no refund or make-up classes will be issued for any missed activity by the participant. Once a class begins, can I still join or transfer? • In most cases, yes! Talk to the Recreation office staff to confirm. Please know, we do not prorate any of the days that have already taken place, though. You just need to catch up with everyone else at the next class! Behavior Violation • Participants receiving three (3) behavior violations will be removed from the specific program.

Proof of Mountain View Residency

From time to time we may need to request proof of residency. Acceptable forms of proof include: Current California Driver’s License or Identification, a recent utility bill, car registration, bank statement, or rental agreement on property management letterhead with a current address. Temporary DMV Change of Address cards, Post Office boxes, personal checks, letters, or flyers are not acceptable. The proof of residence must match the name and address on the registration form. 2 City of Mountain View | Recreation Division

Wait, what? You canceled my activity?! Classes not meeting minimum registration levels will be canceled. Participants will be notified approximately three (3) business days before class begins and issued a full refund, or be eligible to transfer to another class if space is available. Participants transferring will be responsible for any additional fees. 201 South Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View, California, 94040

SWIM LESSONS

Registration Tips

Swim Lesson Guidelines

• Based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, each child must be the required minimum/maximum age on the first day of each session. The age requirement is strictly enforced.

• Please bring a copy of your receipt on the first day of class.

• For the first session, we recommend you enroll in the last swim level completed the previous summer. This serves as a great refresher after almost one year out of the water. • We strongly urge you to make sure your child is registered for the correct level. If your child is registered for the incorrect level we do not guarantee space in other levels. Visit MountainView.gov/SwimLessons to review all swim levels in detail. • If there is an open spot in a class, the waitlist will be contacted first before allowing any other children into the class.

• During all swim lessons, please direct all questions regarding registration and swim lessons to the Pool Supervisor. • If your child advances to a higher swim level, transfers may only be made if: (1) Space is available in the class/session; and (2) The certificate proving the child passed the lower level is presented at the time of the transfer. • If your child does not attend the first day of class, you will be contacted to confirm that your child will be attending the rest of the session. If your child is no longer able to attend, the waitlist may be contacted to fill the spot.

• To keep your child safe, registration in back-to-back class times is not permitted.
