Registration Requirements t Power of attorney, wherein MF LEGAL SERVICES is authorized to file the requested trademark registration.
t A document issued by a governmental authority from the country of origin that certifies the legal existence of the applicant.
t A sworn affidavit signed by the President of the company, legal representative or authorized person to represent the company, confirming the property rights over the trademark that is to be registered. t If the applicant may wish protection be extended thereto, the name and design of the trademark along with the specifications of the different products or services to be included under the protection of said trademark should be attached
t Ten (10) labels with the name and design of the trademark. t Our legislation provides that if the applicant wishes to protect a commercial name before employing it, the applicant shall be given one (1) year starting as of the presentation of the application in order to submit the certification issued by the competent authority wherein it is recorded that the business person is engaged in commerce or industry that employs the commercial name whose registry is requested *All of these documents should be legalized by the Consul of Panama in the place of issuance or legalized by Apostille.
Trademark Registration Renewal At the conclusion of the ten (10) year period for which the trademark registration has been granted, the law provides for the possibility of requesting the renewal thereof, indefinitely for equal periods.
In addition, our legislation provides for a grace period of six (6) months (wherein trademark protection continues) after the expiration of the trademark registration certificate. The renewal of said trademark registration certificate, if not renewed during the indicated period, will carry the penalty in the amount of US$10.00 for each month in arrears. During these six (6) months, the trademark registration remains legally valid.

The renewal request should be presented within one year prior to the expiration of the respective certificate of registration. To carry this out, the applicant should attach a power of attorney, wherein MF LEGAL SERVICES is authorized to request the renewal of the respective trademark registration.
