If you quake at the thought of speaking in front of a group then this workshop, presented by Maureen Bell could be just what you need. The workshop will be held on Wednesday 1 September at 7pm and will give you a simple 5 step process that builds on your natural speaking style and will help you speak naturally and confidently to any group of any size. This is a free event to celebrate Adult Learners’ Week. For bookings and enquiries phone 9978 4091.
Whose that walking down the Street: take a walk into Mosman Library and have a look at some of Mosman’s early residents some you may know others you may not. This is an exhibition about some of those who lived in Mosman and contributed to the wider Australian community There will be old favourites like Bungaree, Ethel Turner and others such as May Moore and Leon Gellert.
Bob Mitchell, The Memory Man Tuesday 5 October 2010 9.30-1pm. Bob will be presenting one of his popular and fun workshops on how to do oral history interviews. Bob will examine the role of memory, look at the range of questions you can ask, provide hints on how to make the interviewee comfortable and suggestions on how your interview can be used.

Have you noticed that when you borrow items we laboriously stamp each and every one of them with a date due? This is a slow and time consuming practice that has finally had its day. From now on when you borrow books etc you will receive a print out with all of the titles that you have borrowed along with the dates they are due back. This will save us time and speed along the queues. If you would still like the comfort of having a stamp on the date due slip they will still be available for you to use.

Last year the Local Studies section of the Library applied for a State Library Development Grant for a web based project we titled Mosman Faces and in April we learned we were successful! Mosman Faces aims to provide a visual history of Mosman through filmed interviews. So far seven ‘faces’ have been chosen linking in with Archibald Mosman’s ‘The Barn’, Richard Harnett, the first Mayor of Mosman, the artists camp at Balmoral, the Mosman Musical Society, the Mosman Cricket Club, retail business in Mosman and of course everyone’s favourite, Taronga Zoo.

NEW MANGA APPRECIATION SOCIETY Tuesday 19 October @ 6pm Theme: Supernatural Mosman Library is pairing up with SMASH! to provide a monthly meet-up for manga enthusiasts here at Mosman Library! We’ll meet in the Teen Zone on the third Tuesday of each month at 6pm and the Library will provide snacks and drinks to keep you going!
HSC Lock-In You will be provided with a relatively quiet place to study, tea, coffee and cold drinks and numerous sugary treats to keep you awake and the help of two librarians (if you need it). September 13 & 20, October 13 from 5.30-9pm.

Thursday 30 September @ 3pm Come to the Library to publish your own short magazine! This holidays Mosman Library will hold a zine workshop to help you get your message on paper creatively! If you would like to be on film as a ‘talking face’ and tell us what Mosman means to you in one word call the Library on 9978 4090 or email Mary Lou Byrne at m.byrne@mosman.nsw.gov.au to book in for filming. Filming will take place in the Library on Thursday 9 September from 4 – 6pm. Bookings are essential as places are limited. If you prefer not to be filmed you can email a high resolution ‘head and shoulders ‘ image (TIFF or JPEG) of you or an ancestor who lived in Mosman. Your ‘faces’ will create a montage for this web based project and become a part of Mosman’s history. This is only the beginning for Mosman Faces. Suggestions for more ‘faces’ are welcome when the project goes live early next year. In the meantime you can make a comment on our Library blog NOW
Juggling Workshop Thursday 7 October @ 5pm CircuSoc from the University of New South Wales are coming to Mosman Library to give a 1+1/2 hour workshop to teach the basics of juggling
