Congratulations to the following authors who have been acknowledged for their valuable contribution to Australia's literary and cultural heritage. Killer Reads Mosman Library Crime Book Group Starting on 2 February 2011, our new Crime Book Group will meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.30am – 11.30am. If you love a good crime, mystery or thriller why not come along and enjoy a friendly and informal chat with like-minded, crime loving readers. Library Lovers’ Day 14 February 2011 Connect with a new book or discover an old flame when you come to the Library on 14 February. This year, Mosman Library visitors can choose a blind date to go on with one of our fabulous collection. Mosman Library Staff have hand-picked items from the collection to love and cherish on this romantic day. Join the Library on February 12, 13 or 14 and go in to the draw to win our fabulous Library Lovers’ Hamper including champagne, chocolate and lots of goodies to make it a fantastic Library Lovers’ Day.

Summer is almost upon us again and with it come those long hot days where all you want to do is chill out with a good book. So why not do just that and be in for a chance to win some great prizes. At Mosman Library these holidays we are running reading programs for all age groups. Treasure Trove is Mosman Library’s Summer Reading Program for kids. Visit the library from Monday 6 December to sign up and receive your free registration pack with everything you need to get started, and a few extra treats, puzzles and activities. There are great prizes to be won for every child who completes the challenge by reading more than four books over the Summer Holidays. Too easy!

A project that puts you in the picture We are making a film about Mosman and its history. The film will be on an interactive website and, as part of this film, we are aiming to create a montage of your faces, your family, your friends or maybe a relative who lived in Mosman a long time ago. The image can be a hard copy original photograph which can be dropped in to the Library anytime and we can scan it and return to you. Alternatively you can email me a high resolution image to m.byrne@mosman.nsw.gov.au . As the title, Mosman Faces, suggests it is just the face we are interested in so a face or head and shoulders image would be ideal. Starting 1 December Mosman Library will also be holding Reading Rave, our Summer Holiday Reading Program for teens. Teens can come into the Library from 1 December to sign up to the program and pick up a free registration pack. There’s lots of prizes to be won for everyone who reads more than 20 hours in the Summer, and those who read more than 65 hours go into the draw for the grand prize, an iPod Nano!

Mosman Library Wednesday 9 February 2011 10am-3pm An Oral History Interviewing Workshop presented by Trish Levido. Trish has over twenty years experience as an oral history interviewer and has kindly offered to share her skills and knowledge. This workshop will focus on interviewing family members. Starting with a general introduction to interviewing techniques, the type of questions to ask, keeping records, handling sensitive matters and how to approach issues such as permissions and copyright. The workshop is free but expected to fill fast. Bookings can be made by calling 9978 4090. Lunch and morning tea will be provided This workshop is the first of our exciting local studies workshops planned for 2011.
YOUTH CONSULTANTS MEETING If you’d like to have more say in how the Library looks after you then come along to our Youth Consultants Meetings.
