4. Hints & Tips

Ensure the bin wash is on reasonably level ground while operating to ensure the bins can be lifted properly by the mechanism (5) and the water can fall into the waste catchment tray. Keep the catchment tray and filter (9 and 12) clear of debris and bag up any debris that falls into the catchment tray as you work. When preparing bins to be washed for the first time you may need to scrape any compacted debris out manually to avoid debris building up in the main filter (9).

A mild sanitiser can be sprayed into the bins or added to the main water tank (1) however always check that any detergent or sanitiser is suitable for use via the pump. A hand operated sanitiser spray can be used after washing and while the bins are still elevated to leave the bins smelling fresh. It is advisable that you contact your local Authority to determine if you require a permit to operate or trade on the street or if a license is required to trade on a public highway.

5. Instruction Manual The trailer is an EU Type approved trailer. You should check with the DVLA with regards to driver licensing and your entitlement to tow trailers. This would include but not limited to; Car driving licenses held before 1st January 1997 OR Driving licenses issued on or after 1st January 1997 Generally if you passed your car test before 1st January 1997 you will normally keep your entitlement to

drive a vehicle with a trailer (depending on the combined weight). The DVLA booklet INF30 should explain the requirements for towing trailers in Great Britain. Or for more information go to www.direct.gov.uk/driving or telephone the DVLA Customer Enquiries on 0800 7906801

Engine You should refer to the owners manual for the engine fitted to this bin wash, especially with regards to;  Safety Information  Safe Operation  Precautions  Starting and stopping the engine  Servicing the engine  Lubrications and oil levels  Storage and transporting  Technical and consumer information Operating Procedure BEFORE STARTING Always carry out a visual check of the machine for damage and check all cables, hoses and fittings for general wear. Check all high pressure hoses for damage or excess wear, and visually inspect push buttons and switches. Fill the main tank (15) with clean water via the tank inlet (1) and ensure all filters are clear and free from debris. Check and clean all water filters regularly and stop operating the machine if filters become blocked.

1. Check the levels of oil in the engine before starting as per the operator’s manual and check the hydraulic levels on the bin wash machine. 2. Before moving the machine or towing with a vehicle ensure the tow hitch (4) is secure and locked. Always check it is legal and safe to tow this trailer. 3. When operating the machine always have the safety beacon switched on (2) to ensure safety of operators on the highway. 4. When the machine is stationary switch on the engine (3) as per operator’s instructions. 5. When washing bins for the first time (for a newly established round) you may need to fore-scrape and remove heavy debris as per the ‘hints and tips’ in this manual. 6. Place the bin on the lift mechanism (5). Depending on the levels and if the ground is sloping the lift mechanism may be slightly lower or higher. The bin(s) may need to be lifted slightly to meet the lift. 7. Using the main 2 way switch (6) elevate the bins until they reach the tip position and always release the switch when the bin is at the uppermost point. 8. Operate the lance (8) to wash the bins, wash quickly moving the lance to remove and loosen debris, which should fall into the catchment tray. 9. Once the bin is clean you can spray sanitiser while it is still elevated, then lower the bin using the 2-way switch (6). Once lowered to the ground the bins can be lifted off the bin mechanism. (5) Always release the switch once the bins are lowered.

10. Periodically you should clean any debris from the main catchment tray (9) and bag it up to keep the main filter clean from plastic bags or larger debris that will prevent the escape of water. 11. The water within the tank (15) will be recycled during the day and on the normal round the water should last at least all day. 12. At the end of the day the main tank should be emptied into a suitable disposal point which is usually a mains foul drain as per the Environment Agencies PPG13 or PPG3 guidelines. Always check with your local water or sewer provider to ensure you are disposing of waste water legally and safely. 13. To wash the main filters connect the pump to a domestic hose pipe water supply using the valve (11). This means fresh water will be used through the pump. Wash the filters from the front and behind while the main catchment tank (9) is elevated. This process should be carried out each day after use. You should also clean the filter bowl (12) and you can refill the main tank (15) ready for the next day. IMPORTANT 14. Always check tyre pressure, the tow hitch and general performance of the machine weekly (13) and check the battery level (14) to ensure safe and legal operation of the machine. Check all lights, indicators, brake lights etc are legal and operational before moving.

6. Safety Always think safety for yourself, motorists and the public and put safety first. Always wear goggles, ear defenders and a face mask when using the machinery. The machine produces high pressure water which can be dangerous if misused. Never point the lance in the direction of the machine or another person.

When attaching the machine to your tow vehicle always ensure that it is hitched correctly to the tow bar i.e. the breakaway strap should be hooked around the vehicle tow ball, the 7 pin electrical connection should be connected and all lights checked before driving off. Regularly check the tyre pressures.

Never use the lance during an electrical storm. Never allow the lance to come into contact with electrical cables. Always secure the lance onto its locating points before driving off. Always switch on the warning beacon when working. Clear any loose debris from the collection tray before driving off. Ensure the collection tray/lid is in its correct position and locked down. Always ensure that the bin lift is clear before operating. Never lift a bin unless the machine is hitched to a tow vehicle or is firmly anchored down and never stand underneath a raised bin. Do not move the machine when full of water without using the tow vehicle. (The shifting of water could destabilise the unit causing it to tip up).

Have the trailer parts serviced by a specialist trailer engineer at least once per year. Service in accordance with recommendations (normally service every 4 months).

Regularly check the oil levels on the gearbox and pump and service in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations (normally service every 4 months). All operators must be trained to use the pressure washer in accordance with the manual. All risk assessments should be carried out for each water jetting operation before commencement of works. We recommend that all operators should maintain a log book of use of the jetting unit. The information can be relatively simple and completed on a daily basis and of sufficient information to provide useful operating data. All maintenance must only be carried out by authorised repair personnel. The pressure washer must not be used when there is a clear fault or damage to it. Do not use the pressure washer while tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

clear; ensure it is clear of any obstruction at all times. Always ensure you safely route all hoses to the mains cable to minimise trip hazards and keep them away from the jetting area. All cleaning products used must be in accordance with your MSDS sheet (Material Safety Data Sheet). Never attempt to start the pump if there is a possibility that there is freezing in any part of the system, Never start the pump if any filtration devices have been removed. You may experience a kick back from the gun. Hold the gun and lance with both hands at all times during cleaning operation. The pressure washer must never be run with the cover open. The pressure washer must be used in open air, not insure a building and at least 1m away from any building. Always wear hi-visibility clothing while on the public highway.

Heat exchange exhausts emit hot fumes, keep face, body and hands

Detergents and Sanitisers While most are of low pH values and suitable for use, you should check that any chemicals used with this machine are suitable and will not damage the pump etc. If in doubt contact Morclean.

7. Maintenance Clear any loose debris from the collection tray before driving off.

Keep the lifting mechanisms well lubricated.

Regularly check the tyre pressures.

With the wheelie bin wash and lift you must lubricate and check for wear and make sure the bolts are tight on the sprockets every 4 months.

Have the trailer parts serviced by a specialist trailer engineer at least once a year. Regularly check the oil levels on the gearbox and pump and service in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation (normally service every 4 months).

Troubleshooting Flashing beacon does not operate Tow hitch will not connect

Main tray will not elevate Bin lift mechanism will not lift Bin mechanism will not lower

No pressure from lance

Pulsating pressure from lance Uneven pressure for spray pattern Engine will not start

Check switch is on, battery power and secondary plug is attached to vehicle. Check ball hitch is correct size, ensure there are no locks or other devices fitted. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE IF NOT SECURE. The lift is fitted with hydraulic rams which will operate slowly, do not force. Check battery power and charge and levels of hydraulic oil. Check battery power and charge and levels of hydraulic oil. DO NOT FORCE THE MECHANISM DOWN. Check water tank is full. Check filters and filter bowl is clean (see diagnostic notes below). Check filters and water tank or check for debris in lance nozzle. Check for debris in lance nozzle and clean if necessary. Check petrol and oil levels, if in doubt refer to Operators Manual. Always pull trigger to release trigger before starting.

No pressure? Diagnostics Advice (Elimination) If machine has no pressure but the engine is running you can check a few things first. 1. Disconnect the main high-pressure hose from the pump. If water flows from here then you know the pump is operating. 2. If the machine still does not operate then switch off and disconnect the lance from the trigger. If water flows from here then you know the pump is operating. 3. If the machine still does not operate then it is likely the nozzle (tip) is blocked. DO NOT LOOK AT THE NOZZLE FROM THE FRONT TO CHECK. Stop the machine and remove the nozzle to clean out any debris. A blocked nozzle is one of the most common apparent faults. IF THE FAULT PERSISTS OR THERE ARE ANY OTHER APPARENT FAULTS WITH THE MACHINE THAT YOU CANNOT RECTIFY THEN STOP AND CALL 01246 471147 TO SEEK ADVICE.
