Smokeless Tobacco Use And Dental Health In the United States in the last decade the sale of smokeless tobacco has been increasing unlike the declining market trends for cigarettes. As a reaction to smoking bans it has been found that smokeless tobacco is being marketed as a way to use tobacco in smoke-free environments like restaurants, airplanes and work places. Smokeless tobacco use is a risk factor for cancer of the oral tissues and pharynx, gum disease, gingivitis, cavities, bad breath, tooth loss, teeth stains and nicotine addiction. smokeless tobacco has been associated with low birth weight infants and also pancreatic cancer. Smokeless tobacco comes in many forms like chewing tobacco, snus or as moist snuff which is placed and held between the lower lip and gingiva and both these forms cause excess
salivation which has to be spit out frequently.. Other forms of smokeless tobacco consist of dissolvable fine milled tobacco, combined with candy flavors and look like pellets and these are also held between the gum and lower lip, some of them are available as films and are placed on the tongue where they dissolve. Risk taking behaviors often are established early in life particularly during adolescence. Adolescents have reported being curious about new smokeless tobacco products. A study of snus sales indicated that under aged buyers were successful in their purchase attempts more easily than that of successful purchase of cigarettes. Although advertisements for tobacco products are required by law to include warnings in boldfaced type stating that all forms of tobacco can cause oral cancer, the message is diluted by means of glamorous advertisements, price discounts, flavorings, convenient packaging and promotional allowances have been effective in generating sales. reduction strategy or as an alternative to smoking is controversial because people may equate less harmful with safe. Smokeless tobacco use may lead to smoking and using other combustible tobacco products like electronic nicotine delivery systems, bidis or cigars. Tobacco companies invest millions of dollars to promote the use of smokeless tobacco and have tried to make products appear popular, glamorous, and trendy. It is important to strengthen awareness for adolescent dental patients who are at risk of using smokeless tobacco and smoking. Getting educated about this habit and being knowledgeable about associated behavioral factors like riding in a vehicle with someone who is drunk, using marijuana, smoking can help them to make better choices and to stay away from these habits. Parents should be aware that dentists have the opportunity to educate, intervene and provide tobacco use cessation programs in the normal course of providing dental care.

5 Steps To Simplify Your Next Paint Project A fresh coat of paint is one of the easiest ways to upgrade your home. Whether you’re revamping a main living area or freshening up your home’s curb appeal, some planning and preparation, plus the right painting tools, go a long way toward helping you achieve a professional-looking finished project. Execute your paint project flawlessly with these tips and tricks from Jennie Kitchen, product manager, Valspar Applicators at The Sherwin-Williams Company, Consumer Brands Group: Step 1: Choose Your Color Selecting a color can often be the most difficult part of a paint project. While browsing through all the colors can be overwhelming, a resource like AskVal. com offers a variety of tools to help you select the perfect shade. You can also have paint chips delivered to your home for free, allowing you to see how they look in your space.
Step 2: Pick Your Tools Every paint project is unique and may require different tools depending on the size of your space and type of paint you choose. However, there are a few must-haves for nearly every project such as brushes, rollers, roller frames, an extension pole, a paint tray with liner and rags. “The quality of your paint rollers and brushes is just as important as the paint you use,” Kitchen said. Step 3: Prep Your Space Start by removing all of the furniture or pushing everything to the center of the room and covering it with a drop cloth or plastic sheet. Remove outlet and switch covers, and clean dirt, dust or grime from the walls using a microfiber duster or vacuum attachment. Don’t forget to lay drop cloths, tape off trim and fill in any small cracks or holes. Step 4: Apply Your Paint Start at the top, beginning with the ceiling, and work your way down to the walls and trim. A tool like Valspar’s Wall and Trim brush is ideal for most interior painting projects. Its thin, tapered design provides ultra-clean lines when cutting-

If you’re painting standard height ceilings or taller, it’s helpful to use an extension pole. For a seamless finish, it’s important to always keep a wet edge and let the weight of the loaded roller do the work. Some pressure can be applied as the roller cover starts to run out of paint, but if you hear a “sizzling” sound, that means it’s time to reload with more paint. To finish, use the roller and roll straight down all the way across your walls.

Well, here it is the end of September and the best weather is right outside our door. Not too hot, not too cold and the sunsets are amazing.
