Looking for an evening to remember? For over 35 years, the Lone Mountain Ranch Sleigh Ride Dinner has been a cherished tradition in Big Sky, MT. Guests enjoy a magical horse-drawn sleigh ride, through snowdusted towering pines, under a blanket of stars and up to the historic North Fork Cabin. Illuminated by oil lanterns and filled with a warm ambiance and the tunes of live cowboy music, the cabin invites guests to enjoy a special farm-to-table dinner of prime rib, roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus and seasonal vegetables. The festive atmosphere – fueled by the warmth of a 100-year-old railroad cook stove, the close camaraderie of the dinner guests, and rich, authentic dining – keeps guests returning year after year for this special event.

Guests can now extend their holiday dinner with Lone Mountain Ranch’s Sleigh & Stay Special. Starting at only $250/couple, guests can cozy up by a warm fire in one of the ranch’s traditional or premium cabins and enjoy a hot breakfast prepared by renowned Executive Chef Nick Steen over gourmet coffee in the Dining Lodge. Following breakfast, guests are invited to take advantage of Lone Mountain Ranch’s 53 miles of groomed Nordic ski trails located just outside each cabin’s front door. Or visitors can get lost in the pristine and untouched winter splendor of the ranch while dog sled racing, skiing or snowshoeing. To book a Sleigh Ride Dinner or Sleigh & Stay Special, call the Lone Mountain Ranch reservations team at 406.995.4644 or email reservations@ lonemountainranch.com

Skyline Announces New Winter Schedule

Working with its partners in Big Sky, the Big Sky Transportation District has set the new schedule for Skyline’s winter season, which includes additional trips between Big Sky and Bozeman and late night service. “We appreciate the additional support we received from the Big Sky Resort Tax District that allowed us to keep our local service running later into the evening/early morning, including adding a Link Express run that is able to bring people back to Bozeman from Big Sky at 2:00 in the morning,” remarks Skyline Coordinator David Kack. “With the additional funding, we were also able to increase one Link Express run to seven days per week, where it was running Friday through Sunday before.”

Ennion Williams, Chairman of the Transportation District’s Board of Directors, noted that, overall, the Board and the Big Sky community seems pleased with the new schedule. “As we start our 10th year of service, we are offering more service than ever before,” he said. “We look

forward to breaking our previous record of providing 174,195 rides in a fiscal year.” Ennion noted that ridership on Skyline is up over 20 percent com- pared to last fiscal year. In addition to cash fares and punch cards this year, riders can purchase a Winter Pass for the Link between Big Sky and Bozeman. The Winter Pass costs $240 and allows the pass holder unlimited rides on Skyline from now until the end of April 2016. While the Winter Pass is not transferable, it provides a cost-effective method for individuals who frequently travel between Big Sky and Bozeman. The Winter Passes can only be purchased in Big Sky at Big Sky Resort’s Basecamp or in Bozeman at Chalet Sports and the Roundhouse.

Skyline also announces changes to how fares on the Link Express between Bozeman and Big Sky are collected. In the past, bus passes were punched only once for each round-trip, a punch will now be taken in each direction. This will not increase the price of riding, as people who purchase punch cards will now get two cards for the same price to accommodate the return trip. People who have fare cards from last year can still use them. With ridership growing on the Link Express, this will help make sure the buses are used for those riding between Big Sky and Bozeman and not being used for local rides. Local service within Big Sky is provided by the Canyon-Mountain, Meadow Circulator and Mountain Loop buses and is fare free. Finally, the stop in Gallatin Gateway will now be at the Gallatin Gateway Inn, instead of its previous location at the Buffalo Jump. Specific information on Skyline’s routes and service can be found on their website www.skylinebus.com.

Mark your calendars now for the community holiday event of the season! Manual Cinema Sponsored by Jill and Loren Bough December 30th, 7:30 pm Tickets: $15-18 Manual Cinema combines handmade shadow puppetry, cinematic motifs, and live sound manipulation to create immersive theatrical stories. Using overhead projectors, multiple screens, paper puppets, actors, live feed cameras, and a live band, Manual Cinema transforms the experience of attending the cinema and imbues it with liveliness, ingenuity and theatricality. Combining the lightness of film with the heaviness of theater, Manual Cinema translates cinematic language into analogue shadow puppetry, emulating montage, camera movement, and depth-of-field using handmade visual effects. Inspired by early cinema, stories are conveyed without dialogue, relying instead on rich, multi-channel sound design and live music. Visit www.manualcinema.com for more information.

Big Sky Fire Department Master Plan Presentation

Wednesday December 16th, 8:30 am Big Sky Water & Sewer District Meeting Room 561 Little Coyote Road

Since April of this year, the Big Sky Fire Department (BSFD) has been undergoing a master planning process with Emergency Services Consulting International (ESCI - http://esci.us/). The process is now complete and the resulting report gives a comprehensive view of BSFD today and what it will need to do to address the needs of the Big Sky community during the next 10 to 15 years. ESCI will be making a presentation to the BSFD Board of Trustees Regular Meeting on December 16th. There will be an opportunity to pose questions during this presentation and the public is strongly encouraged to attend as it is important for all to understand the issues and what challenges are posed for local emergency services both now and in the future.

Turkey For A Ticket Food-Raiser At Big Sky Resort

west yellowstone

DestinationYellowstone.com • 406.646.7701

Winter is the most wonderful time of the year in West Yellowstone with over 50km of groomed cross country ski trails and over 400 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Families come to experience Yellowstone Park from a snowcoach and teams decend on the town in January for the Annual NAIFC tournament on Hebgen Lake. December Events: Mistletoe Magic Bazaar: Dec. 11 & 12 Biathlon #1: Dec. 12 Christmas Bird Count: Dec. 13

Yellowstone Park Opens for Over-the-Snow Travel: Dec. 15 Christmas Stroll: Dec. 17 Snowmobile Avalanche Course: Dec. 17 Rodeo Run Sled Dog Races: Dec. 17-19 Kids'N'Snow Weekend: Dec. 19-20 GWDC Christmas for the Critters: Dec. 1-31, 2015 Big Sky Resort will host the ninth annual Turkey for a Ticket on December 11th at the Madison Base Area starting at 8:30am. This annual event encourages guests to give to the local food banks in exchange for a free day of skiing. The Turkey for a Ticket food-raiser will help the Gallatin Valley, Madison Valley and Big Sky Food Banks to provide food for people and families in need this holiday season. Participants will receive a free lift ticket valid for the day of the event in exchange for a minimum 13-pound frozen turkey or 20 cans of non-perishable food. The food banks are specifically in need of fruit, tuna, chili, tomato sauce and soups. “We look forward to the Turkey for a Ticket event because it is our chance to guarantee that the shelves will be filled throughout the rest of the year,” said Sarah Gaither, Big Sky Community Food Bank Operations Manager. “Because of these Turkey for a Ticket reserves, we are able to cut down on food purchase costs and focus our funds on keeping the lights on and refrigerators running.” Since the inaugural year in 2007, Turkey for a Ticket has collected close to 200,000 pounds of food for local area food banks. As the holidays approach, the need in the area food banks increases. Big Sky Resort is helping the food banks reach this need by incentivizing community members near and far to give to the food banks in exchange for a day lift ticket to Big Sky Resort. Gold, Bronze and Moonlight Area Season Pass holders are encouraged to give in exchange for a $20 Moonride demo ski or snowboard rental to be used between December 11th and 25th (a regular demo ski rental is $69 [offer valid at Moonride at Madison Base Area]). "We continue to see nearly 3,000 individuals a month and the Turkey for a Ticket Food Drive helps us meet the ongoing need. We are grateful for such a giving community," said Jill Holder, Gallatin Valley Food Bank Operations Manager. Food bank trucks, volunteers, and Big Sky Resort staff will be at the Madison Base Area of Big Sky Resort at 8:30am on December 11, 2015, opening day for Madison Base, to accept the donation. For more information on Turkey for a Ticket, visit bigskyresort.com/turkey.
