Dear Friends Once again, we send you Seasons Greetings and Wishes for a Happy New Year with a report of our activities in November and December 2012. The highlight of our activities in November (5th and 19th) and December (3rd and 17th) were four unique and information packed Right to Information (RTI) workshops by former Central Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi on the first and third Monday of November and December. The first Monday was for beginners and the third for regular users of RTI. These events have been a huge success and we are delighted that Mr Gandhi has agreed to do two more in January. Use this opportunity to empower yourself and spread the word so others can benefit. Our much-in-demand workshop on Wills and Nomination with SD Israni, Advocate & Partner of Dr SD Israni Law Chambers with over 36 years of experience, will mark the end of our programmes for the calendar year 2012 on 27th December. Don't miss the opportunity to hear Dr Israni at the Ball Room, Yacht Club, Apollo Bunder Road, Colaba, Mumbai. Moneylife Foundation tied up with Experian Credit Information Company of India to help members get their credit report on the spot paying a deeply discounted price and in cash, on submission of KYC documents. This was a unique initiative held on 15th December. Participants also got a chance to seek guidance from experts on their Experian Credit Report from Disha Financial Counseling. Film/Documentary Club: Moneylife Foundation does occasional screenings of documentaries/films of public importance followed by a discussion. Since we have space only for limited number of people, we do not intend to send mailers to the entire database. If you are based in Mumbai and would like to attend some of these (for starters on Saturday afternoon), then please send us an email asking to be added on to the list.

RECENT EVENTS : 12 December: IT Act & Section 66A: Yogesh Pratap Singh’s talk on implications of the Information Technology (IT) Act, especially Section 66A was a big hit. We have uploaded the video on YouTube for those of you who could not make it or are outside Mumbai. 8 December: Corruption & Chaos on Mumbai Railway: Samir Zaveri, an extra-ordinary activist and an untiring fighter for the cause of railway passengers enlightened members about how to tackle corruption and chaos on the railways. Samirbhai, who lost both his legs in a railway accident at the age of 16, is so passionate about loss of lives because of the absence of medical facilties at railway stations that he can be seen at all hours of the day and night following up on accident victims and ensuring they are taken care of. A wonderful development through this event was the coming together of at least three prominent railway passenger associations who have now decided to meet on the 1st Saturday of every month at Moneylife Knowledge Centre to take forward railway passengers’ issues. So mark your diaries and make sure to join us from 3pm to 5 pm. Read about the event here. 1 December: First seminar at Mangalore— With the support of Indiabulls, Moneylife Foundation conducted its first seminar at Mangalore—a full day session on Investor Empowerment.
