Picture 1 One of the great things about MCL’s fog and reversing lights is that they come complete with standard Land Rover plugs, enabling them to be simply plugged in to the existing wiring. Picture 2 After unscrewing and detaching the existing fog light unit, the wiring plugs and sockets were unlatched and separated.

Picture 3 New sealing rings come with the MCL lights and the first job is to remove the surplus material from the inside of the ring. Next, use something like surgical spirit or panel wipe to clean the edge of the mount onto which the light is fitted…

Picture 4 …then remove the backing paper, pass the wiring through the sealing ring and use the self-adhesive surface to stick it in place.

Picture 5 Provided that no repairs are required to the existing wiring or socket (and they can deteriorate over time) you simply plug in the new light…

going to get a blown bulb and that the lights are completely sealed against the elements and thus against internal corrosion, LED lights are a real no-brainer.

Picture 8 The process for fitting the reversing light is exactly the same.

Picture 7 The light is slightly more directional than that emitted by an incandescent bulb fitting but that’s okay because of fog light is for warning traffic that’s following behind. You can see from this shot taken in daylight that the brightness of these LED lights is far better than that from conventional lights. And when you bear in mind that you’re never

Picture 10 …because you’ll have a perfectly legal but much brighter reversing light with far greater longevity than a standard unit, making sense of the greater cost of these light units compared with the old-fashioned incandescent sort. LRM
