How

do we look at art?

Draw what you see

Sit in front of of your favorite work of art in the gallery and use pencil to sketch what you see. By taking time to look closely at the work you will notice more details in the art.

Find artworks in the museum that match the scavenger hunt board below!

Artwork can be very personal and can make us feel emotion or remind us of a memory or story in our own life.

Draw or write about how an artwork reminds you of a memory in your life or a time you felt strong emotion.

When we look at art, sometimes it can be hard to understand. If we use art elements to help us look at the artwork, we can explore what the artist was interested in while making the work.

LINE

Artists use different types of lines to show movement or texture.

Walk in wavy line. Now walk in zig zag line. How do you feel when you walk in these ways?

What types of line do you see in the artwork? What was the artist trying to draw your attention to by using line?
