LOGO & MARK TREATMENT SYSTEMS

Teppan’s design solutions for the logo and mark are centered on the fusion of Japanese and Western cultures. Target consumers will like the final concept because of its refreshing reminiscence of a plate along with silverware with the chopstick and fork fusion in a tight, clean package that it is presented in.

21

COLORED LOGO THE WHOLE PACKAGE

The Japanese brush style text with varying thickness to communicate hand-crafted aspects of our cuisine.

Represents the fusion of two cultures with a chopstick and a fork. The red circle is an iconic Japanese symbol that adds a bit of dimension to the mark.

22

THE DO’S AND DON’TS

GRID SYSTEM GUIDES & LAYOUTS

Teppan’s grid system was chosen to be flexible yet organized to give each page individuality while still belonging to a family. With this in mind, the layout permits the page to be interactive with crafted and consistent lines that allow the usage of graphic elements and type styles throughout as the user sees fit.

COLORTHEPALETTE UNDERLYING HUES

Teppan’s color palette was created in order to stimulate the senses and to entice the involvement between the viewer and the environment. Colors are a key driving point behind a cohesive design and we strive to perfect this. Every color evokes its own sensation and challenges ones perception of what it means. Through the use of modern colors, Teppan showcases the experience one has in both body and mind.

29

PRIMARY COLOR PALETTE

PANTONE: 179-14 C

PANTONE: 54-7 C

PANTONE: 0-0 C

Teppan’s primary color palette utilizes white, charcoal, and red to not only mirror the colors of the logo, but to emphasize the hunger-inducing qualities that the color red produces. Red is a dominant color for the palette as it represents Japan’s ‘Rising Sun.’ The primary palette reiterates the importance of the fusion of Japanese and Western cultures with the fresh and modern aspects of black and white.

30

SECONDARY COLOR PALETTE

PANTONE: 72-16 C

PANTONE: 10-8 C

PANTONE: 45-7 C

PANTONE: 10-9 C

For the secondary color palette, four colors are chosen in order to demonstrate the warm and trendy aspects of Teppan. Eggplant, cherry tomato red-orange, egg yolk yellow, and a creamy beige are used to create appetizing anticipation.

31

PHOTO LIBRARY PICTURE & FABRIC GALLERY

Teppan’s photo and fabric library reflect the brand’s intentions to be sleek, fun, and refreshing. One will get a sense of elegance from the dark umber floors tied in nicely with the modern slate counter-tops. Colors are an important component to the consumer’s experience through the usage of sweet ombré tones. Organic fruit is provided daily to give an elevated quality in the dining experience for the consumers.

32

PARAGRAPHS TYPEFACE SYSTEMS

Teppan’s typeface styles were picked carefully to communicate both the mission and values. The finalized typefaces showcase the unique fusion of Japanese and Western cultures while also being appealing to the target consumers. The usage of san-serif typefaces helps to show Teppan’s desire for an outlook that is fresh, clean and modern.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT DUMB & DUMBER (1994)

As a way to get back at Joe Mental for enticing both Lloyd and Harry into eating hot peppers, the two of them sneak some of the same hot peppers they just ate on to Mr. Mental’s recently served burger as he is outside with a phone call. Whilst placing the peppers in the burger Lloyd looks at Harry and makes the comment: Lloyd : “Man, this is going to be so hot Harry!” Harry : “It wont even be an enjoyable hot like that Teppan brand hot sauce!”

70

*Harry and Lloyd both glanse at the Teppan hot sauce sitting on the table* Lloyd : “Yeah good thing we didnt use that, he’d like it too much and thank us.” The whole time during this scene, a bottle of Teppan brand hot sauce will just be in frame as it sits on the table in front of the trio. Harry and Lloyd make not to it as they fill Joe Mental’s burger with spicy hot peppers alluding to how delicious and enjoyable the sauce is.

OUTDOOR ADVERTISING ON THE GO

Teppan’s billboard shows the advertising tag line in a prominent, modern fashion. The words are eye-catching to help drivers understand what they are seeing as they drive by. The imagery is appetizing leaving those many potential consumers driving by hungry, and peaking their intersest. By utilizing unordinary pancake colors, drivers get that we are not your average breakfast restaurant and have something different to offer.

72

As a part of Teppan’s guerrilla outdoor campaign, we decided to create a flag with the traditional Teppan mark of a plate and silverware in a pirate flag setting. A fun twist on an object which most are familiar. This appeals to our target consumers, with our mark turning into the skull and crossbones and representing modern trends.

THE INITIAL EXPERIENCE

PRINT ADVERTISING MAGAZINE SPREAD

Teppan’s magazine spread follows the slogan we used throughout the campaign, our book and menu design, and shows the creative cuisine offered by Teppan. Sharing what we are about, our location, and our appetizing entrees help to persuade new guests to visit the restaurant.

74

VIDEO ADVERTISING COMMERCIAL

Teppan’s premiere commercial—set by Snoop Dogg’s instrumental of “Drop it Like its Hot”— shows the interactive performance of teppanyaki breakfast as food is flung in the air to the beat of the tune. Target consumers will enjoy this musical reference along with the fun trajectories of the objects in the air.

THE INITIAL EXPERIENCE

SOCIAL MEDIA FACEBOOK PAGE

Teppan’s social media Facebook page allows consumers to search, review, and learn more about Teppan from a social stand point. The desktop view of the Facebook page encompasses the full breadth of the brand including the menu, location, website, and alternative social media outlets. The mobile page allows for a quick glimpse at Teppan and what the restaurant has to offer.

76

SOCIAL MEDIA MOBILE APPLICATIONS

Teppan’s social media applications allow for a more personal experience between consumers and the restaurant. Young clientele recognizes and relates to the popular snapchat and instagram outlets. This allows the company to spread across different application avenues in order to reach a broader audience of young college students, professionals, and tech-savvy individuals in the 21st century.
