Like a Morning Dove, I’ll y Away… George White, Jr. departed this life on ursday, August 31, 2023.

George (Sonny) White, Jr. was born on June 5, 1949, in Sumter, South Carolina. He was the youngest of four children born to Mr. George White and Rosa Bell White-Horne.

He attended Sumter public schools and graduated from Lincoln High, in South Carolina, George White, Jr. played in the cornet in the marching and concert bands.

After high school, he attended Voorhes College in Denmark, South Carolina, pursuing a degree in accounting. One of the highlights of George’s life was meeting and marrying the true love of his life, E. Patrcia Fulwood at Voorhes College in 1968 and by 1970 they were married to date, 53 years of building a full life.

After leaving College, George moved to New Jersey and began his career at United Parcel Services where he worked for 33½ years. He retired in 2003 as a tractor trailer driver. George joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970 and spent 10 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

ey are the parents of two awesome children, Stephanie Lashonne White-Stroud and George Antoine White; and the grandparents of beautiful two grandchildren, Rayven Stroud and Raymond Shamari Stroud III.

George was an energetic and outgoing individual. George enjoyed his family, friends and church associates at St. Luke AME Church, Newark, NJ.

George remained active in many organizations. George joined the pride of Elizabeth Elks lodge #1117, I.B.P.O.E of the World. In 1990. He joined the pride marching unit (Antler Guard) in1992, serving as company commander of the unit. George also served as the transportation o cer in the Northern New Jersey Brigade.

Shortly after the closing of the Elizabeth Lodge #1117, George moved Mohawk Lodge #307 in Plain eld, NJ. He remained a member of the marching unit which moved to Centennial Lodge #400 with the Edward Nettles Marching unit #2115, serving as past COL. George White, Jr. Company commander of the unit.

George White, Jr. received his past Grand exalted ruler Degree, in Kansa City, MO In 2009. He also held many positions including: Past Grand Exalted Ruler, George White, Jr. served within the Council #121 until1995 and held several seats in Mohawk Lodge #307, Plain eld, NJ including Exalted Ruler.

George White, Jr. was a proud member of Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Ooder. P.G.E.R. George White, Jr., also served as the director of the New Jersey State Association achievement awards department until his passing. George was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Charity White-Allen, and Inez White-Jones and a brother, Charles White.

George leaves to cherish his memories: his Queen, E. Patricia; daughter, Stephanie L. White-Stroud (Raymond) of Pittsburgh, PA; son, George Antoine White of Newark, NJ.; granddaughter, Rayven Stroud; grandson, Raymond Shamari Stroud, both of Pittsburgh, PA; a special brother-friend, Frank Belton of Paterson, NJ; and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
