TRADITION

MISSION Misericordia University, a Catholic liberal arts institution established in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for persons in an environment where all are welcome.

Misericordia University was founded in 1924 in northeast Pennsylvania, to provide a quality education to the daughters of coal miners who previously did not have access to a college education. Misericordia continues to offer a superior education to those of all faiths.

VALUES Just like our Cougar pride, our core values (also called “Charisms") of Mercy, Service, Hospitality, and Justice resonate throughout our campus community. They have withstood the test of time and continue to guide and inspire who we are today.

A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS

& MORE

GET INSPIRED BY MISERICORDIA Located in the beautiful Back Mountain, Misericordia University is nestled on more than 127 acres within a safe, suburban community in Dallas, Pa. There’s easy access to outdoor recreation, including hiking trails, state parks, and ski resorts. You will also have a variety of entertainment and dining options, in addition to diverse cultural and educational opportunities. We’re also a short distance away from Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, home to the Penguins, the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Railriders, the AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees. Misericordia is conveniently located only 2 hours away from both Philadelphia and New York City. Coupled with the natural beauty of our campus, Misericordia provides you with an environment that welcomes individuality and inspires learning and creativity.

STUDENT-CENTERED DEDICATED TO YOUR SUCCESS

At Misericordia, you will benefit from the personal interactions and a collaborative educational experience where faculty work with students in a one-on-one learning environment. Unlike at larger schools, our dedicated faculty are there to answer questions and meet with you outside of class, giving you a voice in your education. According to the 2019 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), seniors at Misericordia indicated they have worked with a faculty member on activities other than coursework more often than seniors at other private colleges. While we may be small, we are also MIGHTY. We have the support systems, the student resources that focus on career preparation, and the countless opportunities to engage with faculty and in activities that will help you succeed. CAREER-FOCUSED One reason that Misericordia is so successful is that it provides students with an abundance of hands-on, realworld experience and preparation.

Get prepared for your future by conducting research and experiments, doing internships, and participating in clinical experiences and labs. You will know what it is like to be out in the field as a professional and network with colleagues. Misericordia first-year students ranked us significantly higher in providing a supportive environment than all other participating private institutions. For example: 9 out of 10 first-year students agree that Misericordia provides support to help them succeed academically (2019 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)).

The Guaranteed Placement Program (GPP) is designed to prepare students looking to enter the workforce or graduate school after graduation and is facilitated through workshops and individual appointments. The GPP offers students a paid internship in their field if they are not employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation (terms & conditions apply).

PASSION & PURPOSE It is with great purpose that we deliver a diverse liberal arts education to set our students apart from the competition. We believe that it is essential to provide them with the skills to think critically and communicate effectively so that they can adapt to any of life’s challenges. At Misericordia, service is a significant part of who we are. It strengthens character, playing a pivotal role in our students’ success. By helping those more vulnerable, they grow as human beings and leaders in the world. Our students use their talents to strengthen the community and the world around them.
