We are a community

of over a million grassroots activists, local leaders and dedicated Americans who have set out to restore the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty in our nation.

We educate grassroots activists and lawmakers to reform our inefficient and encroaching

government back to its well-defined constitutional limits. We are loyal to no politician or political party—only to ideas. Through our educational affiliate, FreedomWorks Foundation, we seek to permanently shift the balance of power away from special interests and back to the common-sense values of the American people. Our philosophy is based on the great fiscal conservatives of political economy: Milton Friedman, Adam Smith, F.A. Hayek and more. We’ve brought their ideas back to the people through our published works and interactive online university. Education is the basis of any successful grassroots organization, fostering both an informed and active base of supporters.

We mobilize a grassroots army ready to consistently stand in defense of liberty. Over 25 years of experience has taught us that even the greatest ideas don’t knock on doors, give speeches or show up for protests.

Whether it’s large-scale events like the first 9/12 Taxpayer March on Washington, D.C. or coordinating with local groups, FreedomWorks is the best force to counter the labor unions, radical environmentalists and other groups on the Left. Year round, we host activist workshops and promote our efforts to bring the message of freedom to Congress. To unite this decentralized movement, we’ve created FreedomConnector, the largest and most robust online activist tool for the conservative grassroots movement. It allows activists to find others, create groups and start organizing for freedom right in their own backyard.

We elect fiscally conservative candidates by translating grassroots energy into change at the ballot

box. FreedomWorks PAC enables activists to transition from carrying protest rally signs, to organizing neighborhood canvassing walks, phone banks, literature drops, yard sign distribution, and assembling the “boots on the ground” needed to win races. Our FreedomWorks PAC endorsement is based on principle, not politics.

“FreedomWorks is the best in the business at grassroots organizing.” —Glenn Beck, conservative radio and TV personality

We’ve successfully challenged incumbent Senators and Representatives in primaries and general elections— and in the historic 2010 midterms, we helped elect 82 of our endorsed candidates.

We legislate

by enabling action between politicians and activists committed to reducing the size and scope of government. FreedomWorks promotes legislation introduced by principled lawmakers on the inside by rallying and sustaining support from grassroots activists on the outside. This inside-outside game is crucial to the FreedomWorks model of governance. At the end of the day, politicians are in the business of being reelected. Our efforts to educate and mobilize allow activists to demand reform and affect legislation long after each campaign season ends. We educate, we mobilize, we elect, we legislate and—with the backing of over a million citizen activists—we make freedom work.

“I was driving past various voting locations on Election Day and saw all these FreedomWorks signs with my name on it.” —Senator Mike Lee (R-UT)

“FreedomWorks ... has risen to prominence as one of the most influential groups in American politics today.” —The Atlantic, November 5, 2009 FreedomWorks shares my commitment to smaller, smarter government, and has real grassroots muscle that comes from an active volunteer network dedicated to showing up until the job gets done. They are making a real difference in the battle for freedom today.” —Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) “They model FreedomWorks on the Grateful Dead or Virgin Atlantic Airways; they want to build a likeminded community, an endeavor that is as much fun as work.” —New York Times, August 25, 2010

“Perhaps no group is doing more to keep Republican members in line than FreedomWorks.” —Washington Post, November 16, 2010
