Barbados has some amazing gardens which are open to the public and Andromeda Gardens is no exception. Positioned in the hills above Bathsheba, these gardens encompass some six and a half acres, with lush tropical foliage and cascading colours. It is considered one of the finest botanical gardens in the Caribbean. Follow the signs to Hunte’s Gardens in the lush hills of St. Joseph – a real treat for all garden enthusiasts. Legendary horticulturalist, Anthony Hunte has lovingly landscaped an arena-sized natural sink hole into what can only be described as a stunning tropical garden! The central portion of Barbados is exceptionally verdant with rolling hills and mile upon mile of sugar cane fields. St. George and St. Thomas are the only two island parishes not bordered by the sea. Between them, they feature quite a number of places of interest. An essential stop in the lofty hills of St. Thomas is Earthworks Pottery, a spectacular working pottery carrying irresistible, functional works of art. Visitors can tour the work area of the pottery and chat with the potters. For many, Earthworks becomes one of the unique and wonderful memories of a Barbados holiday. Also at the Earthworks Complex is Vanita Comissiong’s On the Wall Art Gallery, Tulis Batik and the wonderful Tree House Café which is attached to the art gallery where you can sit on the breezy verandah
