osu TRENDS Fashion is an extension of a person’s personality, emotions, or even current mood. Regardless of whether we think we are “fashionable” or not, everyone has there own sense of style. As the season changes from winter to spring, so do the fashion styles all over campus. There have been a few fashion trends that have been circulation among the Oregon State student body, among which are: - Horizontal Stripes - Wayfarer Sunglasses - Tank Tops - Bright Neon Colors It would make sense that these items would become very popular after a long winter season. What little sun we have inspires hope for sunny summer days.

Julissa Rachor Major: Political Science Year: Senior Attire: - Voyager double-split, tribal print Maxi skirt. semi sheer, woven and light weight. - Cropped black tank (Forever 21) - Black tribal necklace with silver and black gemstones (Forever 21)

Style Inspiration: I chose this outfit because it was very earthy. It’s texture and pattern symbolized sort of an Aztec warrior persona, which I love and notice is the current trend nowadays. It’s lightweight, so it’s easy to move around in and gives me more height and with someone who is 5’3”, that helps.

keven saleumvong Major: Public Health Year: Junior Attire: - Horizontal striped tank top - Ray Ban, wayfarer sunglasses - Criss-cross, tan board shorts

Style Inspiration: I’m inspired by a lot of things. I am a fan of simple v-necks. I also am a sucker for print shirts, especially prints that are very out there, like galaxy print or baroque patterns. I usually try to wear stuff accordingly to weather too, so if it’s cold I’ll typically go for a hoodie look but try to layer it up so it’s not too boring. There are times where I just wanna be casual and comfy so I’ll just throw on whatever is most comfortable at the time, whether it be jeans or basketball shorts.

Isaiah Savage Major: Biology Year: Sophomore Attire: - NIKE shoes and socks - AND 1 athletic shorts - Jack Threads glasses and tank top

24

troy toyama Major: Speech Communications Year: Junior Attire: - 2 Cool, floral t-shirt - Ray Ban, wayfarer sunglasses - Denim jeans

Style Inspiration: Snow and surf inspire my style. I have always been free with my hair: Dreads, Mohawks, Cornrows, and soon a sweet Perm-Fro. I seem to always go back to long surfer hair. I go with what I feel looks good on me and with what I have. As a broke college student, I don’t go shopping much so I find clothes that are comfortable and will be easy to rock with other articles of clothing. I have a long torso and decently broad shoulders, so athletic clothes look and move better on me than others. There is nothing better than clothes that fit. It makes the world of a difference and is the best fashion tip I have ever received.

In the spring/ summer I wear whatever I can to stay cool. I guess I try and dress for what’s nicelooking yet still casual and appropriate for whatever I’m doing that day.

trend setters “The Trickle Across Theory of fashion marketing is centered on the idea that within every social group there are certain people who influence trends. These individuals are usually considered to be popular and admired by the people they interact with. This kind of consumer can be considered to be a ‘brand ambassador’.” Mark Tungate _ fashion journalist

I’ve been really into wearing monotone colors and trying to mix up the shades. The pink button-up was the last thing I put on. It creates a nice contrast with the complimentary color.

tayler worrell Major: Apparel Design Year: Senior Website: styleinterplay.com Attire & Style Inspiration: -Hat and Trousers: I wanted to wear a couple items that haven’t been getting a lot of love; ie: these green trousers and my vintage fedora from H&M. I love these pants for the color and length, but golly dang they frustrate me, because half way through the day the knees sag and they become a size bigger. I only wear them for short days because of that. -Shirt: I made this shirt a couple nights before with a pattern I made for my spring collection. I was organizing my fabric that day and found that I had enough of this thin wale corduroy fabric, so I decided to not only test my pattern out but make myself a new top! I think it goes well with the wool hat and trousers. A perfect fabric and style to transition into warmer

It’s super girly and form fitted but you can also make it edgy depending on what you wear with it. -Jacket: I bought this jacket at buffalo Exchange. I wear it all the time. It’s my go-to jacket. It’s made out of faux suede with woven detailing on the sleeves. It definitely adds edginess to any outfit. -Shoes: These are Jeffrey Campbell Oxfords that I bought in San Francisco. I wore these shoes to give the whole outfit a casual, yet put-together feel. What’s in your closet? I want to thank everyone who was involved in this thesis project. I couldn’t have completed this book without each one of you. Thank you to all of the beautiful people that modeled their awesome threads. Thank you to the talented photographers who helped to make this trend book visually appealing. This has been an amazing experience for me and am very proud to display work that was a result from months of hard work and dedication. You all inspire me to continue to promote fashion awareness, not only on the Oregon State campus, but potentially to schools all over the nation. Keep the ball rolling! Austin Russell
