Non-Violent Communication Jan 11, 18 and 25 7:00 – 8:20 pm in St. Francis Chapel Canon Charles LaFond and Canon Evelyn Hornaday Jesus says some bold things and yet his speech is always gentle. And at the end, when he could have railed at those hurting him he went silent. Charles and Evelyn will co-teach a meditative workshop on two successive Wednesday nights on non-violent communications. How do we speak, even with passion, without setting up an “us against them” mentality and reality? How, in this new phase of our nation’s life, do we learn and practice radical non-violence in our speech in homes, churches and the workplace? We will be looking at the theology of goodness and how kindness was used in the post apartheid trials to change a nation’s culture. Please join us for this amazing and timely life-technology.

Sacred Music and Conversion January 11 in the Music Suite 7:00 – 8:20 pm Stephen Tappe, Director of Music We will explore the power of music to deepen faith through directed listening and both personal and corporate experiences of music and worship.

Small Groups – Let’s Go!! January 18 & 25 7:00 – 8:20 pm Kim McPherson, Director of Religious Education John Putnam, Assistant for Formation Seth Reese, Communications Director Come to experience being in a small group. See what it might be like to join with others in conversation, friendship and prayer. It’s a way to know that you are not alone…a way to explore your questions, your faith…to learn something new, to build trust with a group of people, and often, to laugh! On 2 Wednesdays, we will gather and explore by doing what a small group might do.

Baptism Questions: Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as your Savior? February 5, 12 and 19 Dean Ron Pogue Do you put your whole trust in his grace and love? Turning: These two questions in the Baptismal liturgy have to do with repentance. The Greek word for repent is metanoiete, which means to turn. So, turning to Jesus Christ and accepting him as Savior means turning away from looking to any other for salvation. Putting our whole trust in his grace and love means turning away from other places, persons, or things from which expect to obtain complete favor and love. As we consider the meaning of these two questions, we will explore ways we can daily turn toward Jesus Christ and the abundant life he offers.
