CLARKSON WOMEN’S HOCKEY DIVISION I HISTORY • September 5, 2002 - Rick Seeley named as head coach • • September 5, 2003 - Golden Knights’ first practice • • October 10, 2003 - Clarkson plays Bluewater Junior Hawks in exhibition contest at Cheel Arena • • October 17, 2003 - Knights play at Niagara in first official NCAA game • • October 18, 2003 - Clarkson posts 2-1 win at Niagara for the program’s first Div. 1 victory • • October 25, 2003 - Knights rally for 1-1 tie against Vermont in official home opener at Cheel Arena • • October 26, 2003 - Clarkson shuts out the Catamounts, 1-0, for first home win • • October 16, 2004 - Clarkson defeats Union 2-1 at Cheel Arena for first ECACHL victory • • February 19, 2005 - With a 3-2 win over traditional league power Brown at Cheel Arena, Clarkson clinches a berth in the ECACHL postseason tournament • • March 4, 2005 - The Knights travel to Harvard for first ECACHL playoff game • • November 12-13, 2005 - Clarkson knocks off two Top-10 ranked teams on the road, winning at 5th-ranked Harvard (4-3) and at 8th-ranked Darmouth (1-0) • • December 2, 2005 - Clarkson shuts out #1-ranked St. Lawrence 2-0 at Cheel Arena • • March 4, 2006 - The Knights earn their first playoff victory with a 2-1 overtime win at Harvard • • March 24, 2006 - Goaltender Kira Hurley ‘07 named Clarkson’s first All-American • • March 1-2, 2008 - Clarkson gains its first ever playoff series victory with a sweep of Princeton (3-2ot, 2-1) in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series at Cheel Arena • • March 8, 2009 - The Knights make their inaugral trip to the ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament, falling to Havard 3-0 at Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, MA • • August 8, 2008 - Matt and Shannon Desrosiers name co-Head Coaches, the first husband-and-wife head coaching tandem in college hockey history • • November 29, 2008 - Clarkson defeates Vermont 4-2 at Cheel Arena to gain program’s 100th win • • March 7, 2010 - Clarkson makes its first showing in the ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship game, falling to top-seed Cornell 4-3 in overtime at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, NY • • March 13, 2010 - The Knights make their first NCAA playoff appearance with a 3-2 overtime loss to the University of Minnesota at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis • • March 1, 2012 - Erica Howe ‘14 named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year • • March 2, 2013 - Knights post school-record 28th win with 5-2 victory over Rensselaer in Game 2 of ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal Round series at Cheel Arnea • • March 8, 2013 - Erica Howe ‘14 named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year for second straight season • • March 8, 2013 - Erin Ambrose ‘16 named ECAC Rookie of the Year • • March 16, 2013 - Clarkson makes its second NCAA playoff appearance with a 5-3 loss to Boston University at Walter Brown Arena in Boston • • September 17, 2013 - Clarkson kson Pres Preseason esea ea aso s n #1 Pick in EC ECAC Hockey Coaches’ Poll •
