원초적 치유의 공간 김미향 | 갤러리 도스
김정향은 예술을 통해 치유라는 정신적인 회복을 추구한다. 복잡하게 다변화되는 현대를
있으며 그 사이마다 겹겹이 배치된 다양한 형상이 주는 무성한 화면 안에는 차분하고 섬세한
살아가면서 인간이 겪게 되는 정신적인 괴로움과 고통은 작가가 표현한 이상공간에서 재인식
붓질과 함께 옛 것과 현대적 감각이 적절히 섞여 있다. 동양적인 모티브를 가진 장식적인 요
되고 보듬어진다. 이번 신작에서는 작가이자 한 명의 여성이기에 놓이게 되는 삶의 새로운 경
소와 화려한 색채에 의한 묘사는 실제 세계를 넘어선 관념의 세계가 가진 초월적인 느낌을 더
험 안에서 얻은 사유와 성찰을 투영하고 있다. 본인의 존재를 인식한다는 것은 타인과 나와의
욱 자아낸다.
연결된 매듭을 풀어냄으로 가능한 일이다. 누군가와의 관계에서 얻게 되는 정서적인 위안을 경험하며 작가는 세상을 서로 조력하며 살아가는 하나의 큰 흐름 안에서 받아들인다. 신체의
작가가 제시하는 회화적 공간은 본인이 겪은 감정과 경험들이 녹아든 복합체이기에 감상
일부분과 상징적인 의미를 지닌 일상의 사물들을 화면 위에 유기적으로 구성하고 내러티브를
자들이 보편적인 공감대를 가지고 체험할 수 있는 공간이다. 각각의 이미지들은 서로 유기적
만들어냄으로써 현실에서는 얻지 못하는, 다시 말해 합리적인 사고방식이 지배할 수 없는 원
으로 연결되어 있어 보는 이의 시선을 화면 구석구석까지 차례대로 이끈다. 화면 안에서 순환
초적인 치유의 공간을 제시한다.
되는 시공간의 흐름은 마치 생명을 유지하기 위한 끊임없는 호흡처럼 느껴진다. 헝클어진 머 리카락이 땋아져 정리되는 모습이나 무언가를 먹여주고 감싸 안아주는 신체의 행위는 보는
조력자는 힘을 써서 도와주는 사람을 뜻하며 대상에게 물리적이거나 정신적인 능력의 변화 를 일으켜 내면이 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 수행한다. 작가는 여성의 몸으로 겪어야 할
이에게 정서적인 공감대를 형성하기에 충분하다. 꿈처럼 펼쳐진 환상적인 공간은 작가 본인 뿐 아니라 감상자에게도 동일한 위안과 안정을 느낄 수 있는 감각적 공간으로 재현된다.
임신과 출산 그리고 육아의 과정을 통해 타자를 헌신적으로 보살피는 조력자라는 자신의 새 로운 정체성을 마주하게 된다. 기이한 능력을 지닌 초인과도 같이 누군가에게 절대적인 정신 적인 안정과 위안을 제공하는 본인의 모습 안에서 인간사의 본질에 대해 사유한다.
이상과 현실의 차이는 분명히 존재하며 그 차이를 분명히 인식함으로써 예술이 탄생할 수 있다. 김정향이 예술로써 표현한 이상세계는 헛된 상상이 아닌 지친 현대인을 보듬어 주고 안 아주는 따뜻한 상상이다. 조력자라는 가상의 존재에 대한 낭만적인 상상 안에는 인간적인 따
작가는 현실에서는 얻을 수 없는 이상적인 치유의 공간을 예술로써 형상화하는 것에 대해

색한 과정의 결과이기도 하다. 김정향에게는 현실의 고통을 보듬을 수 있는 매개체로써 예술
에는 은유와 상징으로 가득한 익숙한 형상들이 숨어있다. 모든 것을 위에서 내려다보는 듯한
그 자체야 말로 큰 조력자일지도 모른다. 작가가 이번 전시를 통해 안내하고자 하는 그곳은
조감도식의 구도나 여러 가지 이미지들이 뒤엉켜 펼쳐진 파노라마식의 구도는 더욱 많은 텍
밤과 같이 조용하고 풍요로우며 따뜻한 신비로움이 잠재된 안식처이다.

Instinctive healing space Gallery DOS

Kim Jeonghyang aspires to obtain mental and spiritual healing through art. The mental agony experienced by humans living in a complicated and diversified modern world can now be understood at a whole new level. They can now also be embraced in the ideal space expressed by the artist. This recent series reflects on the purpose and meditation acquired from the new life experiences and situations that she has experienced on her journey as an artist and a woman. Being conscious of one’ s own existence is only possible by untangling the knots that connect us to others. Kim Jeonghyang, experiencing the sentimental comfort coming from her relationships, accepts that the world is made up of great flow and rhythm, where everyone lives in harmony with each other. Systematically creating art on the canvas, the daily objects that are a part of our body, hold symbolical meanings, and are used in making narratives, she creates and provides an instinctive healing space that is not attainable in reality. In other words, it is a place that cannot be ruled by rational reasoning. A helper refers to a person who always assists others with all their effort. Helpers perform the role of stimulating changes in the subject’ s physical or psychological ability, and of helping develop their inner qualities. By experiencing the process of pregnancy, delivery, and care of an infant through her experiences as a woman, Kim Jeonghyang faces a new identity of the self as a helper who needs to devote herself in taking care of another human being. She reasons out that the essence of a human being looking at the self, who is now providing spiritual stability and comfort to another human being, is something that a supernatural being with eccentric powers would do. She has continuously and painfully searched for ways to materialize an ideal healing space that cannot be found in reality through art,. At times, the artist appears to be a fun storyteller, and in order to let everyone relate, she combines typical objects, objects that are a part of our lives, and brings the narrative out of them. filled with metaphors and symbolisms are found everywhere on the canvas. The composition of the bird’ s eye point of view and the panorama type of composition, formed by several intertwined images, seem to be appropriate for integrating even more texts. Amidst repeatedly exposed modified parts of the body and countless paintings made by different images placed in between them in layers, you will find calm and intricate brushes that mix the sensation of the old and of the modern times. The decorative factors within an Asian motive, and the expression of extravagant colors transcend reality and arouse supernatural feelings of the world’ s ideals. The picturesque space provided by Kim Jeonghyang is where the viewers can experience feelings of sympathy that coincides with the complexity of the artist’ s own emotions and experiences. The images are systematically connected to each other, and thus, they lead the appreciator’ s view through the whole masterpiece. When you gaze into the painting, time and space seem to flow like a never - ending breath needed to sustain life. The messy hair organized into braids and the physical actions of feeding and embracing is sufficient for the viewers to form a level of sympathy with the emotions running through the painting. The fictional space arrayed like a dream is reproduced into a sensational room that gives comfort and stability not only to Kim Jeonghyang herself, but to the viewers as well. The difference between ideals and reality certainly exists, and art is born by clearly acknowledging that difference. The world of ideals that is artistically expressed by Kim Jeonghyang is not a product of delusional imagination. Rather, it is a warm wonder that embraces the tired people of the modern times. In a romantic imagination of fictional character called helper, humane warmth is preserved, and that creates an ideal space that achieves healing and recovering without separating the others from the self. This is also a result of the search for diversity beyond the limited canvas, a form of trying to communicate with the outside. To Kim Jeonghyang, art, a medium that can embrace the suffering endured in reality, may be the true helper. Through the exhibit, the artist is trying to lead viewers to a shelter that is tranquil rich, and filled with warm hidden mysteries. 조력자들의 밤 - 밤의 새
