Middlebury at Mills Improve Your Spanish

The Middlebury Language Schools are pleased to offer an intensive-immersion program in Spanish on the Mills College Campus in Oakland, California.

Get college credit and complete one year of language study in only seven weeks. Middlebury at Mills brings our established Language School programs to the historic Mills College campus in Oakland, California. This provides a unique opportunity for our West Coast students to experience the power of the Language Schools closer to home, and for East Coast students to explore the liveliness and cultural diversity of the Bay Area.

Much more than an intensive language program, the Middlebury Spanish School is a cultural immersion experience. Students practice the language while learning the culture through cocurricular activities such as soccer, theater, cooking lessons, films, and salsa dancing. When combined with guest speakers and an energetic, dedicated, and highly trained faculty, it makes the Middlebury experience an unforgettable, enriching, and fun way to learn Spanish. Above all, the unique combination of rigorous academics with a total immersion environment leads to one very important result: rapid language acquisition.

How does it work?

Middlebury has set the international standard in intensive foreign-language immersion for nearly 100 years. At the heart of the Middlebury method is the Language Pledge®, a commitment by students to speak, listen, read, and write in only the language of study for the duration of the seven-week program. The Language Pledge originated at the Language Schools.

Program Features • 24/7 Spanish immersion for rapid language advancement • Small classes taught by experienced faculty • Transfer credits to your home institution • Classes for all levels • Cocurricular activities to enhance language learning and cultural awareness • Excursions within the Bay Area to art museums, cultural sites, and restaurants
