Chloë Webster is an interior designer and showroom manager at Asnew Upholstery, based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The company was founded by Gary Morley and Jeremy Adamberry in 1995, collectively bringing 35 years of upholstery experience to the business. Chloë and her team offer quality workmanship and products to her clients, as well as an excellent service and design experience. Chloë also writes for the company’s blog, sharing projects and design ideas. So we are proud to bring you the Designer Insights of Chloë Webster.

1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?

My personal style is a mixture of contemporary and classic. I focus on the architecture of the building, proportion and scale. No brief is the same which I love! I like to ensure that the vision my clients have has been made a reality as well as discovering ways to further this. The completed results are not only attractive but also comfortable.

2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?

Listening to the hopes and ideas a client has is essential to ensure you are both on the same page! I can then gain a clear understanding about the lifestyle, style and uses for the space.

3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?

Gary Morley & Jeremy Adamberry – the directors of Asnew Upholstery. Their experience and knowledge has really influenced which fabrics I choose for projects, especially taking into account practicality. We work very closely – no job is outsourced. We have an extensive range of domestic and commercial projects. Without our skilled craftsmen and women we would be lost!

4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?

Each day I look for something new that could be useful in the future even if that means filling up my phone/mac/iPad with photographs! I use my Social Media regularly especially Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram (@chloeroseweb). I am constantly on the look out for new fabric designs, art, exhibitions, pieces with the wow factor. I travel often and collect cut outs from magazines such as Elle Decoration or Homes & Gardens. Going to events such as Decorex or Design Week also really help!

5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

Whilst working in Marketing & PR, I quickly became interested in writing features for Architectural and Interior Design Companies. Studying at KLC School of Design gave me the confidence to pursue my career, you never stop learning! So my top tips are being friendly, dream big, have patience and self-belief! You want to bring out the best in a space, in the way that suits your client and reflects them.
