Monday, August 26 Below is an overview of today’s major events based upon team number. This will give you a general sense of the day’s schedule. All Teams Team Meeting 1 9:00–10:00 AM Academic Department Introductions 10:00–11:30 AM Academic Advising Meeting 1:00–3:00 PM Advising Open Hours 3:00–5:00 PM Team Meeting 2 6:00–7:00 PM Staying Safe at Tech 7:00–8:00 PM or 8:00–9:00 PM 7:00–9:00 AM Breakfast Dining Halls Jump-start your day with a breakfast to energize you for Orientation. At 8:50 AM, OTLs will begin to line up along the sidewalk of Walker Lawn, holding their team numbers in numerical order, so start looking for your team number at that time. You can find your team number on the front of this booklet. Commuter students can eat in any of the dining halls. In the event of rain, you will meet your Orientation Team Leader in the lobby of the Rozsa Center at 8:50 AM. **Be sure to bring this booklet to breakfast and your first team meeting. 8:00 AM–12:30 PM TOEFL Testing (Team 74) Dow (8) 641 Students enrolled in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) at this time before they will be able to register for classes. Please make sure that you bring your M-number and a form of photo ID to the test. 9:00–10:00 AM Team Meeting 1 Get to know the other students on your team, learn about the week’s schedule, and talk about time management in college with the help of your OTL. Discuss the major events that you will be able to attend and find out all of the great opportunities that Orientation can offer! See page 31 for Team Meeting Locations. 10:00–11:30 AM Academic Department Introductions Get a welcome and introduction to your department from the faculty and staff. See page 32 for Academic Department Introduction locations. 1:00–3:00 PM Academic Advising Meetings This is your chance to meet your academic advisor and learn about courses required for your major. You can get all of your academic questions answered and make sure you’re ready for registration. You will also get information about your computer lab. Refer to pages 32–33 for advising meeting locations.
