8:05 AM–4:55 PM Day Zero Classes Wondering what university courses will be like compared to high school? Take advantage of Day Zero by walking through the main portions of your schedule as a first-year student at Michigan Tech. Find out where your classes are, meet your professors, and get a sneak preview of the material you’ll be learning. 8:05–9:25 AM Academic Success (Teams 1–36) Rozsa (10) Theatre Being a student at Michigan Tech is a big responsibility. Susan Liebau, Director of the Waino Wahtera Center for Student Success, will talk to you about what it means to be a Michigan Tech student, the importance of academics, and what it takes to be successful in the classroom. Please bring your iclicker with you, if you have one. We will also talk about when you can use files without consequences! 11:05–11:55 AM Study Skills and Time Management Fisher (15) 129 In order to really succeed at Michigan Tech, you need superior time management and study skills. Get the lowdown on how to optimize your time and efforts so that you can make the most of your Michigan Tech education. 12:05–12:55 PM Test Anxiety and Stress Management Fisher (15) 129 To do well at Michigan Tech, you need to learn how to operate smoothly in a very high-stress environment. Attend this session to begin building the skills you need to thrive in a high-stress environment and remain calm and focused while taking important exams or giving class presentations. 12:00–1:30 PM ROTC Barbecue ROTC (4) Front Lawn Stop by anytime to enjoy a barbecue, music, and games sponsored by the Michigan Tech ROTC program. In the event of rain the event will move to the ROTC Gym.
