In 1986, GABO received her first assignment from STERN Magazine, which overnight initiated her career as a suc cessful professional photographer: She was sent on tour with Herbert Gröne meyer, resulting in an emotional series of portraits, one of which became the cover shot of STERN, at the time one of the leading German magazines for photography. After that, the legendar y photo-session with German tennis star, Boris Becker took place.. GABO’s stylized black and white photos helped establishing him as an international icon. Since then, she has followed Becker ’s evolving ca reer showing many facets of the sports man. In the late 90s GABO captured Becker as a handsome man with de signer stubble beaming self-confidence from his deep blue eyes – an image that made us feel as if we were looking directly into his ver y heart.

With exhibitions of her photography including those at Camerawork Gal l er y, Hamburg, and at the Academy for Visual Arts, Vienna, GABO ranks 4th in Stern’s Top 10 German photographers, following Peter Lindbergh, Jürgen Teller and Ellen von Unwerth (source : www.stern.de). Her pho tography books include “Big Shots”, published by te Neues Verlag. GABO always adhered to the motto; “A refined spirit creates a refined face. Beautiful individuals aren’t wrinkle free and polished. They’ve simply lived well. They’re not envious or vindictive, all of which makes a person unattractive.”
