Automation opens endless possibilities in warehouse management noting Kivnon’s locations in Europe, North America, and South America. Kivnon started in the automotive industry, helping solve customer issues and needs. “For us, in the beginning, this was a way to introduce ourselves,” said Gómez, adding that this reach is now expanding in other industries. The company now exports to more than 17 countries worldwide, according to the business website. “From the last years and now with COVID, there have been other sectors with interest in AGVs,” Gómez said. Automation is more than a buzzword. Material handling is changing the nature of the business as robotics and automation offer new possibilities in the areas of enterprise resource planning and warehouse management. This month, Material Handling Network spoke with some of the companies helping meet needs in the industry with automated solutions; the technology they contend is filling gaps and enhancing production results. ‘Friendly innovation’ Kivnon is one of the companies meeting the need for automation. The company offers a wide range of autonomous vehicles (AGVs/AMRs) and accessories for the transport of goods, using magnetic navigation or mapping technologies, that adapt to any environment and industry, according to the business. The business began in 2009 in Barcelona, according to Sergio Gómez, international director at Kivnon. Since 2015, Gómez said the market for AGVs has been expanding. “This trend has been boosting for years,” he said. Currently, the company has a global reach and aims to be accessible to customers, according to Gómez, 6

Currently, Kivnon offers a wide range of mobile robotics solutions automating different applications within automotive, food and beverage, logistics and warehousing, manufacturing, and aeronautics industries, according to the business site. Kivnon offers both standardized and custom products and employs the tagline “friendly innovation.” “We try to innovate in a friendly manner, we aim for our customers to be able to manage and to modify the AGV,” Gómez said. The technology is developing so as to work fluidly with other machinery and systems within an organization, according to Gómez. “We invest a lot of time and effort in designing solutions,” he said, noting the advancing technology allows operators to make modifications without the need to go to each individual machine for adjustments. The company’s products are characterized by “their robustness, safety, precision, and high quality,” according to a Kivnon press release. Each product has been designed with a user-friendly philosophy creating a pleasant, simple to install, and intuitive work experience, the statement said. “Kivnon advises, installs, performs maintenance, and offers exceptional after-sales service. consolidate our commitment to technological innovation and continuous improvement in all products,” said Mike Kotzian, managing director, in the release. Gómez said the pandemic has increased the need for flexibility in operations. And a common theme among Kivnon’s customers is the need to move employees into targeted work areas, an area where automation can help, according to Gómez. “Every customer, they are trying to use employees in more value-added work,” he said, adding that the company’s customers in the U.S. market, in particular, are looking to fill labor gaps when possible. “There are some specific countries where our customers don’t have enough of a headcount. They have much more pressure on trying to automate as much as they can,” Gómez said. The use of AGVs can also help with increased quality of the production process, according to Gómez. “You can know where the AGV is, where it is located. What kind of items it’s transporting,” said Gómez, adding that by implementing the automation, some customers are also able to readdress the layout of the worksite and improve usage. Trends Gómez envisions include increased connectivity, like AGVs, and communication with other systems. He also projects increased focus on fleet management and the expansion of 5G technology. It will be more common for customers to have many AGVs within a workspace, perhaps hundreds at some locations, according to Gómez. Automation in new spaces At Vecna Robotics, Matt Cherewka focuses on strategic partnerships. “In general, the two biggest things that we’re seeing is the maturation of this new flexible automation market,” he said, noting AMRs. And “a greater emphasis on the economy stemming around that. The adjacent applications,” he said.

Cherewka, director of business development and strategy at Vecna, echoed the idea that focus has honed in on software capabilities and tying systems together. Vecna is known for its automated forklifts and material handling equipment, according to Cherewka. “We’re essentially the drivers people can’t hire right now,” he said. The company’s solutions frequently are focused on handling a lot of ground-to-ground or repetitive movements so highly skilled operators can focus on higher-value tasks, Cherewka said. At MODEX this year, Vecna announced the launch of a new product, the Vecna CPJ. The Co-bot Pallet Jack is semi-autonomous and targets facilities and workflows underserved by automation, according to Cherewka. “This new product is more of a touch-and-go automation. You call it to an area and have some interaction with it,” he said. Vecna enabled the technology to be a lower cost, entry-level platform, opening it to operations that historically could not afford automation, Cherewka said. “This platform was designed with accessibility in mind. It gives end-users more control,” he said. As to automation trends, Cherewka said within warehousing there are more flexible approaches to automation, for example, multiple AMR solutions in the same building. He also said events of recent years have created industry shifts. “COVID was kind of a reset point for the supply chain industry. I think it’s exposed some flaws in a lot of the offshoring trends that have occurred over the past decades,” Cherewka said. In addition, he said the pandemic helped govern a complete adoption of e-commerce, driving what had been an adoption curve into a sharp jump. And now the war in Ukraine is also having an impact. “Between COVID and the Ukraine conflict, many are trying to seriously relocate supply chains to be closer to home,” said Cherewka, who added that the impact of e-commerce is also a factor.

He said that not only direct to consumer needs but business-to-business necessitates faster delivery times. “It’s kind of a crazy and exciting time in the supply chains, given labor constraints as well as the high-speed nature” of commerce, Cherewka said. As material handling companies work to reconfigure and repurpose operations, Cherewka said an adjustable approach will be helpful. “Flexibility and agility are going to be the key moving forward,” he said.

How to prevent Bench Grinder accidents

Because bench grinders are everyday machinery in workplaces nationwide, many operators become complacent about their hazards. However, bench grinders are very dangerous when used improperly. Statistics show that more than half of grinder injuries, such as fingers caught in the machine, or eye and face lacerations, are the result of operator error. Rockford Systems, LLC, a premier provider of machine safeguarding products and services, offers this primer on grinder safety regulations to help prevent accidents. First off, it is important to be fully versed in the regulations that outline safe grinder installation, maintenance and operation. The workplace regulations that apply to grinders are OSHA 29 CFR SubPart O 1910.215, a "machine specific" (vertical) regulation with a number of requirements, which if left unchecked, are often cited by OSHA as violations. ANSI B11.9-2010 (Grinders) and ANSI B7.1 2000 (Abrasive Wheels) also apply. Carefully review these sets of regulations before operating any grinding machinery. Work-Rests and Tongue-Guards OSHA specifies that work-rests be kept adjusted to within 1/8-inch of the wheel to prevent the workpiece from being jammed between the wheel and the rest, resulting in potential wheel breakage. Because grinders run at such high RPM, wheels 12

May 2022

Material Handling Network

www.MHNetwork.com

actually explode when they break, causing very serious injuries, blindness and even death. In addition, the distance between the grinding wheel and the adjustable tongue-guard -- also known as a "spark arrestor" -- must never exceed 1/4-inch. Because the wheel wears down during use, both these dimensions must be regularly checked and adjusted. Grinder safety gauges can be used during the installation, maintenance, and inspection of bench/ pedestal grinders to ensure work-rests and tongueguards comply with OSHA's 1910.215 regulation and ANSI standards. To do so, wait until the wheel has completely stopped and the grinder is properly locked out before using a grinder safety gauge. Grinder coast-down time takes several minutes, which may tempt an impatient employee to use the gauge while the wheel is still rotating. This practice is very dangerous because it can cause wheel breakage. Other advice: where grinders are concerned, personal protective equipment (PPE) usually means a full face-shield, not just safety glasses. The fact is, an employee cannot be too careful with a machine that operates at several thousand RPM. Remember to document any safety requirements set forth by OSHA as that is the best evidence that safety procedures are being followed. Ring-Testing OSHA requires that grinding wheels be ring tested before mounting them. This simple step prevents the inadvertent mounting of a cracked grinding wheel. Ring-Testing involves suspending the grinding wheel by its center hole, then tapping the side of the wheel with a non-metallic object. This should produce a bell tone if the wheel is intact. A thud, or a cracked-plate sound, indicates a cracked wheel. For larger grinders, grinding wheels are laid flat on a vibration-table with sand evenly spread over the wheel. If the wheel is cracked, the sand moves away from the crack.

To prevent cracking a wheel during the mounting procedure, employees must be very carefully trained in those procedures. This starts with making sure the wheel is properly matched to that particular grinder, using proper blotters and spacers, and knowing exactly how much pressure to exert with a torque-wrench, just to mention a few things. Wheel Covers This OSHA-compliant Wheel-Cover allows no more than a total of 90 degrees of the wheel left exposed. (65 degrees from horizontal plane to the top of wheel-cover). Never exceed these wheelcover maximum opening dimensions. Larger wheel-cover openings create a wider pattern of flying debris should the wheel explode. A well-recognized safety precaution on bench/pedestal grinders is to stand well off to the side of the wheel for the first full minute before using the machine. Accidents have shown that grinding wheels are OSHA allows no more than a total of 90 most likely to shatter/ degrees of the wheel left exposed (Image courtesy of Rockford Systems) explode during that first minute. OSHA Instruction Standard #STD 1-12.8 October 30, 1978 addresses the conditional and temporary removal of the "Work Rest" for use only with larger piece parts based on the condition that "Side Guards" are provided. Grinder Do's • Always handle and store wheels in a careful manner • Visually inspect all the wheels before mounting for possible damage • Make sure operating speed of machine does not exceed speed marked on wheel, its blotter or container • Check mounting flanges for equal size, relieved as required and correct diameter 14

The Five Secrets of Successful eCommerce Fulfillment As the eCommerce industry continues to thrive, businesses that participate in the supply chain must address how they will keep up with increased demand. Manufacturers, transporters, and warehouses are working overtime to meet consumer expectations. In the best conditions, fulfilling online orders can be challenging. But these aren’t normal times. Here is what you need to know about eCommerce order fulfillment, some of the challenges companies are facing with it, and five secrets to success your business can use in fulfilling online orders. What is eCommerce Order Fulfillment? Fulfillment in eCommerce is the start-to-finish process of delivering an order purchased online to the customer. Simply put, a customer places an order on an eCommerce website, and the fulfillment process begins. The retailer, supplier, or merchant is responsible for ensuring that the customer gets the product they ordered in the time promised. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Direct-to-consumer fulfillment cuts out the third-party logistics provider. A retailer lists products o on their website. When a consumer makes a purchase, the item is shipped directly from the manufacturer or supplier to the customer. eCommerce fulfillment involves the process of getting an order into your customer’s hands when you control the inventory. This part of the supply chain includes receiving and storing inventory, processing online orders, picking items, packing, and shipping items to the customer. If it sounds complex, it can be. But you can achieve success throughout this process by implementing the right improvements. Challenges eCommerce Companies Face with Order Fulfillment 16

Whether you’re an established or emerging brand, it’s no secret that eCommerce fulfillment involves a lot of moving parts. Here are some of the most eCommerce fulfillment challenges that a business is likely to face. 1. Managing Inventory If your warehouse’s inventory isn’t managed properly, your order fulfillment process has no chance of being efficient. You may not have the products in stock that customers order or will be unable to find them. These issues can cause delays and mean you won’t be able to meet your customer’s expectations. They can also lead to employee dissatisfaction and even some safety issues in the warehouse. 2. Slow Shipping There is tremendous pressure for eCommerce businesses to offer fast shipping, such as one- or two-day delivery. Some eCommerce giants are even able to get products to customers on the same day! If your business can’t compete, it might be at a disadvantage. 3. Limited Shipping Locations The location of your eCommerce fulfillment centers plays a critical role in determining how quickly you can get products into the hands of customers. Not all online retailers can afford to have a fulfillment center in every city. If your target audience is spread across a wide geographical area, this can be an ongoing challenge. 4. Using Complex Systems Some online retailers are still using outdated systems that don’t allow the business to operate efficiently. This can result in order processing errors and slower fulfillment. 5. Handling Reverse Logistics One aspect of eCommerce that many retailers fail to consider is reverse logistics. When people buy

products online, a percentage of those are going to get returned for a variety of reasons (damage, bad description, wrong part, etc.). If your eCommerce business doesn’t have a plan for handling reverse logistics, this aspect of your business can be costly. Now that you know what challenges you might face in fulfilling online orders, here are five ways you can achieve eCommerce order fulfillment success. 1. Align Your Fulfillment Process Your entire eCommerce order fulfillment process should be standardized from start to finish. Begin by establishing your goals and making a list of your resources. If you are lacking in certain areas, you might want to consider outsourcing. Many eCommerce companies use third-party logistics (3PL) providers to fill in some gaps. By making this effort to be transparent and consistent in your processes, you can reduce errors and improve the efficiency of your overall business. 2. Organize Your Warehouse A messy and disorganized warehouse is going to be an unsafe and inefficient one. When you standardize your order fulfillment process, take the time to figure out how you are going to keep your warehouse clean and orderly. Having inventory stored in the right place and with the right types of systems is a good place to start. You can also make sure employees spend time cleaning up areas and have efficient workflows that keep your operations running smoothly. 3. Make Communication a Priority Communication is a vital component of any successful business. One of the ways you can make communication a priority is to have complete transparency throughout the supply chain. You can achieve transparency throughout the supply chain by implementing technology solutions like RFID tags for inventory and asset tracking. When a customer places an order, they can get realtime updates on its order fulfillment status. 4. Deliver a Reliable Customer Experience Today’s customers want a positive and reliable customer experience. 60% of customers worldwide 18

claim they have stopped buying from a business due to a poor customer experience. You can start by having thorough product descriptions on your website and accurate stock data. When you promise to deliver an item to a customer by a certain date, make sure you are true to your promise. And don’t forget about that transparency that gives customers the real-time updates they want about their order status. 5. Make Data-Driven Decisions As you upgrade your eCommerce systems to improve processes, you will likely have access to more and more data about your business. Make sure you leverage that data to make better decisions. For example, a warehouse management system (WMS) will provide you with a wealth of insights about your customers, inventory, and picking and packing activities. You can use those insights to improve your order fulfillment process and your bottom-line results. As an eCommerce or warehouse owner, you already know that fulfilling online orders can be challenging. Without an effective strategy, your customer experience and profitability can suffer. But, if you’re not an authority on fulfillment, you may face some common challenges. Fortunately, you can overcome them and achieve the best possible results with these simple tips. Feature Story

The best ways to maximize Warehouse Space despite an industry shortage

The global supply chain crisis is making warehouse space the most valuable real estate in the United States and beyond. Inventories are stacking up as new warehouses become harder to obtain. In fact, only 3.6% of all warehouses in the U.S. were vacant as of late 2021, making for a new record low. Warehouse managers need to maximize all the space they have in order to keep up with consumer demand and supply chain traffic. Luckily, there are some strategies that can optimize and maximize warehouse space even in the middle of an industry shortage. 1. Analyze Space Utilization The first step toward maximizing your warehouse space is analyzing how the space is currently being used. This is important because it will reveal space that is being underutilized or used inefficiently. You may find that your warehouse has more capacity than you thought. Vertical space is commonly underutilized. To maximize warehouse space, you need to ensure every vertical inch of clear height gets accounted for. A perfect example of this is interaction space for forklifts. Narrowing this gap to the industry minimum – about 6 inches – could allow you to increase your shelf space and fit more pallets and case packs into your warehouse. 20

May 2022

Material Handling Network

www.MHNetwork.com

Similarly, assess the floor plan and organization of your warehouse space. Pinpoint the storage locations that are accessed the most and the least. Are these locations optimized for their respective activity levels? Keeping the shelves and items that need to be accessed most often closest to your docking and unloading space can allow your warehouse to operate more efficiently. This may allow you to make better use of aisles. For example, you could leave wider aisles near the front, where the most traffic is, but crunch aisle space in the back of your warehouse where your overstock items are stored. 2. Store Same-Size Items Together An easy way to instantly increase storage space in warehouses is to store same-size items together. It may be tempting to take a one-size-fits-all approach with shelving, but this will leave significant space underutilized. Taking the extra time and money to customize your shelving and layout for a few different size categories allows you to fit noticeably more units into your space. Creating storage for different size categories can have a ripple effect. For example, you will likely only need smaller equipment to access smaller items, so the aisles in these storage sections can be narrower. This will allow you to accommodate more items in the same amount of space. A similar approach applies to vertical space. Use lower shelves for larger items and store smaller items higher up. This may improve safety as well, since larger items are more challenging and dangerous to move. Additionally, you can group items by product category for improved organization. This helps maximize warehouse space by customizing storage for the needs of specific items and optimizing accessibility. When organization is streamlined, warehouse staff will have an easier time locating,

storing, and retrieving merchandise. This may help alleviate traffic congestion, allowing you to have narrower aisles. 3. Use Compact Equipment Warehouses are designed to accommodate forklifts and other large equipment for moving items around. Extra-wide aisles are not ideal for maximizing warehouse space, though. When analyzing your warehouse space utilization, see if there are aisles or areas where a narrow aisle forklift or other smaller material handling equipment would get the job done. Narrow-aisle forklifts, walkies, and hand trucks are all great options for moving around items with limited space, offering greater maneuverability than their larger cousins. Using compact equipment allows you to have thinner aisles and fit more shelves into your space. This tactic applies even if some of your inventory is large enough to require a full-size forklift. Set aside a specific section for these oversize items and then optimize the rest of your warehouse for leaner aisles and more compact equipment. 4. Consider Increasing Mezzanine Space Mezzanines are a great way to maximize vertical warehouse space. In today’s warehouse real estate market, mezzanines are the perfect alternative to building an addition or buying more space. This is an especially good option if you need more easily accessible space. Storing items 20 feet off the ground on high vertical shelving units may help increase storage capacity, but those items will be difficult to access. Mezzanines solve this problem and allow your warehouse space to be used more efficiently. As an added benefit, when inventory is easier to access, it is easier to keep track of what you are storing. You will be much less likely to forget about obsolete inventory secluded on high shelves. This improved inventory control will ensure you are always making the best use of every square foot. Mezzanines are a particularly valuable option if you utilize floor stacking. Mezzanines instantly maximize your usable warehouse square footage by adding more floor space. It is easy to customize 22

the layout of mezzanines, as well. Using temporary mezzanines will allow you to shift things around from quarter to quarter, adapting as storage needs change. 5. Use Inventory Management Software Maximizing warehouse space boils down to managing your inventory in the most efficient and effective way possible. This includes how and where inventory is stored and how your warehouse is organized and operated. There are a lot of factors to consider, so inventory management software can be extremely useful if you want to optimize your space. For example, you may be wasting valuable warehouse space on obsolete inventory or items that are no longer sellable. Inventory management software can help you keep track of factors like these and catch obsolete inventory early. This will ensure every square foot of warehouse space is being actively utilized in the most valuable way possible. Industry experts have pointed out that inventory management software can be used for demand forecasting as well. This capability will help you anticipate overstocking needs and identify highvelocity items that should be stored in easily accessible areas. A good software solution will give you a hub for all of the available data on your warehouse, making space utilization much more manageable. Maximizing Warehouse Space Your Way You can maximize warehouse space by implementing any of these tactics, but using a custom combination of them will offer the best results. Every warehouse’s traffic flow, inventory needs, and layout is different. Start by closely analyzing your unique circumstances and identifying areas ripe for improvement. Branch out from there to find the solutions that work best for you. Ultimately, maximizing warehouse space is simply a matter of accounting for every square foot in the most valuable way possible. Business Management

Implementing Green Practices with used material handling equipment With nearly 30% of U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions coming from industry, businesses focused on reducing their carbon footprint need to adopt new strategies for change. While some environmental costs of operating in the material handling industry aren’t easy to reduce, a few simple methods can cut GHGs and save money. One method — buying used equipment instead of new — has always been an available option. But, with organizations shifting toward greener practices, many used equipment retailers are ramping up operations with more extensive selections, higher-quality products and services that make buying used painless. The Costs of Buying New Looking at the overall lifecycle of a piece of equipment can illustrate the environmental costs. A forklift doesn't just appear in a warehouse. It takes quite a long journey to get from elements in the ground to a usable piece of equipment. The metal extraction process alone often leads to soil and water contamination from waste rock and tailings. Before a new forklift even hits the warehouse floor, a massive amount of energy has gone into manufacturing. Moreover, the transportation of materials and manufactured products represent another 29% of U.S. GHG emissions. Combine it all together, and you can see why the simple purchase of a new piece of material handling equipment can quickly add to a business’s overall carbon footprint. End of Life Doesn’t Mean End of Impact What happens when a piece of material handling equipment reaches the end of life? While materials like steel are a priority for recycling, other components don’t see a second chance. Plastics, toxic battery acid and other products often rot away in landfills — leaching out into the environment as they degrade. 24

May 2022

Material Handling Network

www.MHNetwork.com

This adds a double impact to purchasing a new piece of equipment. It’s not only the costs of buying new; it’s also the costs of getting rid of the old equipment. Buying used often gives equipment a second life and extends use to offset some of the overall environmental costs. How Used Equipment Can Mitigate Emissions Used material handling equipment is often just as durable and reliable as new equipment. The cost-effectiveness of buying used is often the prime reason for purchasing, but buying used also presents a significant benefit for eco-conscious businesses. As we’ve learned, the costs of new manufacturing and transportation rack up a hefty bill of GHGs. By extending the life of a piece of equipment, you can help offset the impact of new manufacturing. Moreover, you’re giving equipment a second life, keeping it from sitting in a landfill and possibly causing even more environmental damage. The trend of businesses implementing green practices will only grow in the future. Equipment manufacturers are also aware of the trend and constantly add new eco-friendly equipment to their product lines. Even with equipment that operates using more environmentally friendly methods like lithium-ion battery power, the manufacturing costs still exist. Businesses looking for ethically sound and impactful methods for reducing their carbon footprint need to adopt new ways to revamp everyday practices. Equipment procurement can become an area of a business where sound ecoconscious decision-making meets practical sense. By buying used, businesses can cut both real-dollar and environmental costs. One of the hurdles to buying used is sourcing high-quality equipment. In an industry that relies on equipment for daily operations, the cost of purchasing poor-quality products is a real threat. The last thing a business needs is mission-critical equipment like lift tables or conveyors constantly going down and requiring maintenance. The rise of ecommerce is providing businesses in the industry with ample opportunities to purchase used. Many retailers are developing state-of-theart online storefronts to make the buying process for used equipment that much easier. With more comprehensive selections and stringent quality assurance practices, finding quality used products from these retailers has never been easier. Moreover, additional services like consultation and transportation have added a huge amount of value to these companies. By offering a no-fuss way to obtain high-quality used equipment, these companies are helping cut overall environmental costs for the material handling industry. Huge Benefits, Little Cost Reducing the overall carbon footprint in the material handling industry is difficult. Not only do we rely on large mechanical equipment, but constant use means finding replacements is a common need for warehouses and other facilities. One way to reduce the environmental impact of buying new is to simply purchase used products. In most cases, you can find a wide selection of highquality products to meet almost any need — and doing so can offset the costs involved with mining materials, manufacturing and transportation. With an increase in reliable used retailers, you can get the same quality support and service of a major manufacturer at a significant cost reduction. Buying used material handling equipment won’t cut all the environmental costs of doing business, but it can be an easy way to implement green practices without sacrificing quality or time.

Let pedestrians and operators know if someone is just around the corner with our New LOOK-OUT ™

• Avoid Forklift Accidents • Alert Workers & Pedestrians • Warehouse, Yard and Office Applications • Reduce Liabilities • Increase Up Time

Alert Employees of Dangerous Collisions BEFORE They Occur! LOOK-OUT™

Currently, we have 42 standard package offerings, ranging from one-way to fourway intersections. These units can be mounted to racks, walls, or ceiling hung for the large units. Additionally, our new DUAL USE series consists of units that can be used INDOORS and OUTDOORS. Our units are Essential for Traffic Control.

Our LOOK OUT™ product line offers a versatile line of safety sensors that will alert workers and pedestrians if a forklift or other moving object is approaching just around the corner. Our sensors are great for any traffic area and are quickly becoming a standard for warehouse traffic control. Avoid accidents and potential liabilities to your facility. We have LOOK OUT™ products for just about every safety application for your warehouse, yard, or office needs. Additionally, if you need a custom solution, we will work with you to assure that your safety needs are met to complete satisfaction.

Protect your employees, visitors, and guests from dangerous collisions with forklifts or heavy equipment while walking through your facility. Safety and caution should be an automatic response to your implemented systems. We offer both interior and exterior sensors on our systems that can be mounted anywhere. They help control traffic concerns and communicate that someone is approaching from a spot that may not be otherwise visible.

When the sensors detect motion in blind spots around a corner or a door way, it begins to flash a warning to the pedestrian or operator who is approaching that intersection. Additionally, sensors will signal the lights on either side of the unit to flash as to indicate someone is approaching the same intersection. Thus, everyone approaching that intersection is informed of movement and will know to proceed with caution. The sensors may be adjusted to specific angles and lengths that will meet the needs of your facility. Signals are sent via bright flashing red LED lights on each visible side of the units.

AVOID DEADLY AND COSTLY FORKLIFT COLLISIONS As workers juggle more projects and deadlines with shorter time constraints, safety can become jeopardized. As this happens, so do accidents. 40% of all forklift fatalities are caused by an individual being struck or run over by a forklift. Many of these accidents and fatalities can be avoided by warning pedestrians and forklift operators of approaching danger. Our LOOK OUT™ sensor alert warning system allows for quick and easy recognition of possible hazardous situations. Why take chances of liabilities when you can avoid accidents and protect your most valuable assets: your employees!

Blind spots, corners, and dangerous intersections can cause series accidents. Wouldn’t it be great if someone was always there to alert you of oncoming traffic? Despite Safety Supervisors efforts, they cannot always be there to prevent collisions. Thankfully, our units are there to scan traffic areas and alert 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. • The Look Out units cover 2, 3, and 4-way intersections. • The Hall Door and Overhead Door units cover hallways and overhead doors. • The Basics detect on one side and alert on the other. • The Dual Use series of units can be used for interior/exterior applications. Examples of these units are shown below. LOOK OUT 4
