MHEG Names Christine Hensley as Interim Executive Vice President

Midwest Housing Equity Group, Inc. (MHEG) announces the appointment of Christine Hensley as interim Executive Vice President for our Iowa Operations effective April 15, 2013. Hensley will work out of the company’s Des Moines office. While a search is conducted for a new vice president, she will be responsible for maintaining and developing client/business relationships in Iowa. MHEG appreciates Hensley’s willingness to lead the Iowa Operations during this transition. “I am honored to welcome Chris Hensley to the Midwest Housing team,” said John Wiechmann, President/CEO of MHEG. “All Iowans deserve safe and decent affordable housing. Chris’s commitment to that goal is unparalleled. She will lead and grow our affordable housing relationships and reinforce our long-term commitment to the state of Iowa and city of Des Moines.” Hensley not only brings leadership and experience into this position, but she also has a great deal of knowledge and familiarity with the company. She has served on MHEG’s Board of Directors since 2010 and the Iowa Operations and Investment Committee since its inception in 2002. Hensley recently retired from Bank of the West as Vice President of Community and Government Affairs. In this position she was responsible for corporate initiatives promoting growth and stability in Iowa’s marketplaces, particularly in areas relating to affordable housing and economic development. Prior to her appointment with Bank of the West, Hensley served as the Executive Director of the YWCA of Greater Des Moines. She is th

term as a Des Moines City Council Member and serves on many local non-profit

boards of directors. MHEG, a non-profit organization created in 1993, helps fund affordable housing in the Midwest. Its mission is to change lives for a better tomorrow by promoting the development and sustainability of quality affordable housing. MHEG has offices in Omaha, Nebraska; Topeka, Kansas; Des Moines, Iowa; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In addition, MHEG staff provides technical assistance to developers, owners and management companies on the development and management of tax credit properties.
