MESSAGE FROM DEAN’S DESK Dear Readers, The period Oct-Dec 2015 was full of events mostly good and a few bitter ones. The entire campus was geared up to face NAAC inspection and many face lifting activities in terms of improving infrastructure as well as Academic performance. All faculties were sensitized about the importance of research publications in indexed journals participation in conferences, symposium, organizing CME programme, maintaining and preservation of records etc. Finally we achieved ‘A’ Grade in NAAC.

The bitter part is continuous Torrential rain

and

consequent

Floods

which

incapacitated entire City and suburbs without sparing our institution for nearly 10 days and subsequent yeomen service rendered by our CRRIs and Doctors with the advice and leadership of Dr.Prashanth Rajagopalan in the form of supplying food and medical relief by conducting several camps as being described by our Medical Superintendent in his video quoted in this issue. From this issue we are going hitech as video clippings are also embedded here and the efforts taken by Dr.Semmal, Editor –in – Chief is laudable.

With wishes Dr J Mohanasundaram

Thousands of years ago, the Great Indian teachers mastered the art of Medicine and teaching and stood first among humanity to introduce the Gurukul system of education wherein very few students would sincerely and dedicatedly follow a teacher and would learn the art of Medicine and Life. The emergence of modern medical schools and the concept of medical education in the west, few centuries before; introduced the culture of huge lecture theatres and massive podiums concentrating more on material things. Then by gradual refinement and inevitable evolution the modern world moved towards accepting that small group discussion is more essential to learn certain skills in Medicine. The World in the current timeline is drifting more towards the small group discussion module, which is nothing but the refined format of Ancient Indian Gurukul system. Needless to say that the “Future of Medical Education” waits to gain lots of inputs from ancient Indian Education system. Our team introduces a virtual segment for SAIGENESIS from this issue; follow the link to view the first Educational video in Psychoendoimmunoneurology in English language for Medical students across the globe - https://youtu.be/hZ56Xsb0S_M Thanks and regards, Dr.Semmal Editor – In – Chief, SAI GENESIS
