CHILD WATCH Child Watch is a FREE babysitting service we offer to our members so that they can bring their young children to the Y while they enjoy our fitness programs. This program is staffed by caring, nurturing personnel in a fun environment. Members utilizing this service must remain in the YMCA at all times. Stop by our welcome center for more information and available times.

Financial Aid & Military Discount is available. Everyone belongs at the Y, and no person will be turned away because of financial limitation. Contact your Health Insurance provider and ask about your benefit; you may be eligible for reimbursment on some of your membership fees.


HEALTHY LIVING GROUP EXERCISE Boot Camp Circuit Achieve your fitness goal with this military inspired circuit workout that will push you to your limits. Calisthenics & training drills develop strength, power and agility.

Zumba Fitness becomes fun and exciting with this Latin dance workout. This class combines fast and slow rhythms that will sculpt and tone the body. Come join the party! See the welcome center for a detailed schedule or visit www.saugusymca.org.

Core This 30 minutes class focuses on the entire abdominal area. Different exercises will help tone, strengthen and tighten your stomach muscle. Get ready to get solid to the core.

Yoga

FIND A HEALTHIER YOU

A Vinyasa style of yoga that links traditional Yoga poses together to create strength, flexibility, muscular endurance and balance.

Family Yoga A gentler, slower paced Yoga that focuses on positioning, stretching, and breathing that also incorporates meditation and visualization components.

Kick/Pump Intervals of Kickboxing and weights that finishes with abdominal exercises. This is a high energy class that incorporates a variety of punches, kicks and dumbbell weight training exercise for a complete cardio and strengthening workout.

Latin Heat Burn calories while you shake up your workout. This class combines Latin & Colombian dance moves to produce a passionate workout which is sure to make you sweat.

Low Impact Aerobics This is a low intensity cardiovascular class combining aerobics and light weights.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal training is the science of teaching a client how to use their body correctly and efficiently in every action he or she may execute. This includes, but is not limited to, weight training and cardiovascular exercises. Personal training is frequently used for advances in sport specific training, rehabilitation (pre and post surgery), weight loss, and general fitness.

Muscle Complete muscle toning workout for legs, upper body and abs. This class will utilize equipment such as dumbbells, body bars and stability balls.

Y-Pump This barbell class strengthens tones and defines your entire body. This workout will challenge all your muscle groups using exercises like squats, lunges, presses and curls.

Y-Seniors A full conditioning program geared to the older active population. This class includes muscle strengthening, stretching, core stability and balancing exercises.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT YOUTH PROGRAMS RUNNING FALL SESSION 1 & 2 Crafty Creations Join us for a Saugus YMCA favorite! In this crafts program, children will learn the beginning fundamentals of cooking including kitchen safety and healthy eating habits along with creating exciting art projects in a fun atmosphere. Cost of food and supplies are included. Ages 4 – 6, Mondays, 1:00 – 2:00 pm Ages 6 –12, Mondays, 5:30 – 6:30 pm Family Member: $60 General Member: $90 Non Member: $110

Sports Jam In this fun filled sports class, children are introduced to a variety of sports classes including soccer, basketball, t-ball and other exciting games. This is a great way to get your child excited about playing sports while learning the value of team work and improving coordination and motor skills. Basketball Skills & Drills Clinics are available for ages 4 – 12. Each clinic will include a group warm-up followed by skill-building and scrimmages. Participants will learn the rules and the fundamentals of the game. Depending on the age level, we will cover ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive and offensive sets, teamwork and much more. SWIM

Swim Lessons All Year Long! We hope you enjoyed the summer at our Outdoor Pool Center, don’t let the cooler weather end your fun. The Melrose Family YMCA offers swim lessons, water aerobics, family and lap swim, and new this fall Aqua Zumba. For more information call 781-665-4360 or visit our website melroseymca.org

Parent Child Swim Lessons (6months-5years) Take your little one and hop in the pool together for the first time for fun and enrichment! Together, you will learn how to feel comfortable in the water while preparing your child to learn to swim.

Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3 -6) Preschool swim lessons teach children valuable life skills, including personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, rescue, and water sports and games. YMCA swim lessons focus on positive values in a fun and caring atmosphere and Preschool swim lessons teach basic skills progressing through four levels: Pike, Eel, Ray, Starfish.

School Age Swim Lessons (Ages 6-12) Swimming builds life-long interest in swimming and develops the whole person: spirit, mind, and body. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, with 6 levels total: Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow, Fish, Flying Fish, and Shark. Trained instructors emphasize personal safety, swimming skills, endurance, and social skills, while guiding students with praise and encouragement.

The basic rules and fundamentals of the game as well as fair play, sportsmanship and fun will be emphasized. YOUTH PROGRAMS RUNNING FALL SESSION 2 ONLY Mad Scientists Join our new class in exploring the wacky world of science! Rockets, Oobleck, Slime, Crystals; we are making and discovering it all! Cost of supplies is included. Ages 6 – 12, Tuesdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm Family Member: $60 General Member: $90 Non Member: $110

Hands on Science This class gives your child a head start on science with experiments and activities that have been designed specifically for young scientists. Your child will explore some of their favorite topics, such as weather, animals, and more! Let us build the curiosity for the world around your child in this hands-on class. The Y Homework Club Join us for our new program, the Y Homework Club! This program is open to School Aged children ages 6-12. Caring and professional staff will assist your child with homework while parents can take the time to work out, try a class or relax! SPECIAL PROGRAMS Itty Bitty Soccer Join us for the latest and greatest program at the Saugus YMCA, Itty Bitty Soccer. In this program, children learn the fundamentals of the game including dribbling, passing, shooting and defense in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. The main focus of this program is fun and teamwork. One of the key aspects of this program is family involvement. With that in mind, we are in need of volunteer coaches! Ages 4 – 6, Saturdays, 9:00 – 10:30 am, Sept. 8th – Nov. 3rd Lynnhurst School Field Family Member: $60 General Member: $85 Non Member: $110

Kid’s Night Out Kids come spend Friday night at the YMCA with your friends! We’ll provide a light dinner, play games in the gym and participate in fun activities! Each Kid’s Night will have a theme so stay tuned each month! 3rd Friday of each month (9/21, 10/19, 11/16, 12/21) Ages 4 - 12, 6:00 – 8:00 pm Family Member: Free General Member: $5 Non Member: $5


SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY BIRTHDAY PARTIES

RINGER’S AUTO SCHOOL

Host your child’s birthday party at the Saugus Family YMCA. Enjoy a two hour party using both a party room and half of our gym for all of your fun and games. Run all the activities yourself, or let us take care of it for you for an additional fee. Parties are offered on Sundays and can be booked through our welcome center. Parties must be booked two weeks in advance. Contact the welcome center for more information or to book your party today!

The Ringer’s Auto School, operating out of the Saugus Family YMCA, is offering programs throughout the year. Program cost is $675. Dates of Fall classes are as follows:

RECIPROCITY We are for healthy living and we want you to stay active and keep moving. We have now made sure there is a Y wherever you are! Your Y card now provides you free access to any facility in New England. Simply bring your facility/full privilege membership card and a photo ID with you, and you can check into any partner Y in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. You can then utilize their gym, pool, fitness, and other wellness facilities, just like any other member! We simply ask that you maintain a current membership at the Y you visit most frequently. Please note that some Y’s in New England do have restrictions on the number of visits or specific program participation; check the Y’s web site and click on My Y/Every Y to learn more before you go. You can also visit ymca.net to find the Ys near you.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL AGE Ages Kindergarten - 14

WELCOME The Saugus Family YMCA offers Pre-School Child Care, Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Classrooms for children ages 2 years 9 months through age 5. The Saugus YMCA also offers an Afterschool Program for ages Kindergarten through 14. These programs offer an array of curriculum that prepares children to enter the school house doors. In this program we provide each child with a variety of social, academic, creative and physical experiences to develop his/her own self. The goal of the transitional curriculum is to develop academic readiness and age appropriate learning skills and social behaviors through an integrated and multi-sensory program.

We offer a new flexible time schedule for our Pre-School Child Care. Open from 7:00am – 6:00pm with a minimum of 4 hours per day and 3 days per week. Limited part-time and full-time openings are available. Our staff is composed of qualified Directors, Teachers and Aides who have met all of the requirements for the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Curriculum Includes: Swimming Lessons (In Summer Months) Gym Lessons Circle/Story Time

The Saugus Family YMCA provides After School Child Care for children in Kindergarten through age 14. This program is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Students enrolled will receive transportation from the following schools to the YMCA.

Outdoor Play Arts & Crafts Classroom/Lesson Time

We use Creative Curriculum and The Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. All children are assessed twice a year.

Lynnfield Schools • Our Lady of the Assumption While at the YMCA, students will have an opportunity to participate in recreational activities, arts and crafts, sports and many other fun and engaging activities as well as receive help with homework. In addition to after school, programming is also provided for full days over school vacations, snow days and other school professional days. Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis. To register your child, you must sign the tuition policy agreement, pay your first two weeks tuition and fill out a registration sheet. These steps will hold a slot for your child. Before your child can start the program a complete registration packet must be filled out and returned along with all required health documents. These can be obtained from the School Age Director after registration has been received and confirmed. The Preschool Programs is licensed by the Department of Early Education & Care.
