News of Internet fraud and user protection risks have rekindled the Bay State’s focus on cyber crimes in the last three weeks. The hackers behind the Framingham-based TJX Cos. data breach were sentenced to prison at the end of March and an April report urged federal agencies to ramp up their fight against Internet-based attacks. One survey just ranked the Hub the second-riskiest online city in the nation. Bill Oates, the city’s chief information officer, said the survey highlights Boston’s extensive connectivity. He also said new WiFi spots are coming, and that users should always be cautious when connected. “If you’re going to be using wireless hot spots, that’s

After 22 years in a Florida swamp, our window is as good as new. For those who don’t want to replace their replacement windows.

To ensure the durability of our patented FibrexŽ material window, we’ve kept the same window frame submerged in a Florida swamp since 1988. To this day, our testing engineers inspect it every year, and there has been absolutely no change. Our other weather-testing sites in sub-zero Minnesota and the Arizona desert have yielded the same result: after 22 years in the worst conditions, the very same FibrexŽ material has remained unchanged. Why do we perform this crazy weather-testing? To build the best replacement window, that’s why. Our practically indestructible FibrexŽ frame keeps our glass from shifting and our insulating seals intact, even during drastic temperature changes. The body of Poland’s late president Lech Kaczynski arrived back home yesterday as his stunned nation mourned.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski’s coffin returned home to a stunned nation yesterday, a day after he and much of the country’s political and military elite perished in a plane crash in Russia. Poland’s Acting President Bronislaw Komorowski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Kaczynski’s twin brother Jaroslaw and his daughter Marta were among those welcoming the coffin, draped in the red and white national flag, at Warsaw’s military airport. Tens of thousands of people stood in silence along the six-mile route taken by the hearse to the presidential palace where Kaczynski’s coffin was expected to lie on public view. for others, exit interviews are — for AskTheHead Hunter.com author Nick Corcodilos — “the cockroaches of the HR world.” “They just survive,” he says. “I really think companies do them out of sheer habit.” “If a company wants to find out what employees think, why don’t you ask them while they’re still working there?” he asks. “Why wait until they’re leaving?” Navigating an exit interview, like any goodbye, is a theatrical art — and

“If a company wants to find out what employees think, why don’t you ask them while they’re still working there? Why wait until they’re leaving?” NICK CORCODILOS

while many a worker may relish the chance to discharge a few parting shots, career coach Hallie Crawford recommends bidding adieu with diplo-

matic understatement. “Try to not single out any one person unless you are pressed to do so,” she advises. “Keep things professional, not personal.” She continues, “Consider what criticism is really worth bringing up.” Corcodilos’ answer might be: none. “Absolutely keep your mouth shut,” he warns. “Anything you say can and will be used against you. It could hurt your references.” DREW HINSHAW letters@metro.us

Even some feedback can be bad feedback Even happy feedback could have an unhappy blowback. “Let’s say you say something positive,” Corcodilos says. “Later, you realize they discriminated against you, and you want to sue. HR trots out your notes from your exit interview and it says, ‘I had a great time here, the company treated me very well.’ There goes your lawsuit.”

Metro’s guide to getting a grant or scholarship Yes, grants and scholarships — although not omnipresent — are out there We show you where to look to help with the rising cost of tuition

College grants and scholarships are a diverse category. To get the most bang for your buck, you need to research.

Take a cursory glance at studies on college student grants, and you might be tempted to throw your hands up in surrender. Only 47 percent in the lowest income bracket received any state aid; those who did received an average of $1,590 in 2008-09, according to a College Board study. But to get a clearer, more positive view of the situation, it’s helpful to look at different kinds of aid.

“Be active early in your junior year. Find out local groups: businesses, clubs and religious groups. BILL ROBERTS That same College Board study revealed that the average full-time student received $5,041 in grants or scholarships — money that

they will not have to pay back in the future. “Every little bit counts. Try to find out as much about local groups as possible: local business associations, Lion’s clubs, religious groups, says Bill Roberts, director of financial aid at Michigan Technological University. “There is usually less competition, and these groups have a vested interest in the students. And the data seems to

show that. While federal and state grants have remained roughly the same over the last 20 years, grants from private organizations have been climbing. “Many students overlook their particular talents, says Roberts. “That’s where these groups come into play — drawing, music, architecture, you name it. BRUCE WALSH

Titus Andronicus build ‘A More Perfect Union’ Jersey band avoid the sophomore slump with Civil War concept album

If you go Titus Andronicus

Titus Andronicus never wanted to change the world. At least that’s what Patrick Stickles shouts in “A More Perfect Union,” the opening salvo from their new album, “The Monitor.” But with tunes as epic as the Civil War battles that serve as inspiration, excerpts from abolitionist

speeches and enough paraphrasing to demand a fan site full of footnotes, the Jersey band may at least change indie rock. Stickles credits Ken Burns’ “The Civil War” for the themes of “The Monitor”: “That was what got the ball rolling for me caring about that time period,”

he says. “Now I’m crazy about it, as you can tell.” He proudly tugs at the bottom of his shirt to frame the Abraham Lincoln image his friend screened onto it.

Though new guitarist Amy Klein didn’t play on the album, she’s spent a lot of time with it, and based on her onstage smile, she seems quite fond of it. “This album embodies the American spirit of dissent in a very interesting way,” she says. “There’s room for anger and conflict and a celebration of the unity that we hopefully can create in this country.” PAT HEALY

Spa director Margaret Lora shares easy ways to release the tensions of everyday life There are plenty of ways to take care of yourself at home Need to relax? That’s like asking a thirsty man if he needs water. Even though most experts agree that getting a professional massage is the best way to relieve tension, Margaret Lora, spa director and the creative force behind the newly opened Spa Merge in New York City, shares other easy ways to help you unwind. Massages. They really do help you unwind. If you’re going to get a spa treatment for relaxation, we recommend Swedish massage because it implements a very repetitive and gentle kneading. The repetitiveness of those long, relaxing strokes puts you into a trancelike state.

Obama must be a sociopath In my opinion, Obama is steeped in a repressed anger stemming from his dysfunctional childhood that was forged in the flames of elitist, anarchical and militant ideologies and manifested in a thirst for control and revenge. Look up “antisocial personality disorder” — I strongly believe we have elected a full-blown sociopath to the presidency. His polished charm, fluid deception, Olympian conceit, pedantic admonishings, fragile ego and rat-quick temper are signs of a seriously disturbed man. In this light, his actions are understandable, even logical. He’s angry and now he’s getting even. JOHN ANTHONY, VIA E-MAIL

The stability of this planet depends on the United States. Regardless of your party affiliation, without red, white and blue, we as a civilization would be in peril. We are the stabilizing force that keeps the rogue nations in check, so when I hear Obama is having a nuclear garage sale I begin to hear the pitter patter of Islamic jihadists’ sandals running to get their hands on them. Just imagine the havoc some psycho like Ahmadinejad could cause with a totally operational nuclear device.

“When is it going to end with these ridiculous airline charges? You have to pay for an additional bag, and now they want to charge for carry on luggage also? What’s going to be next — charging you to breathe their air?”

What about healthy foods? Angry and not going to take it When I drive my own car to Washington, D.C., to participate in a rally to protest the grotesque growth of federal government power under the Obama administration, I am called “astroturf.” When thousands of Americans organize to ensure that their elected officials know their legislation runs afoul of many Americans’ understanding of the Constitution, that is derided in the media. But when Vice President Biden calls upon me to praise the manner in which the states’ rights and individual liberties were trounced by this myopic blight of elected and appointed cronies, well that’s just giving the power back to the people I suppose. Here’s hoping for a punishing defeat to leftism in the coming midterm election. STEVE DELANEY, VIA E-MAIL

Mickelson, right, gets his third green jacket.

Lefty claims green jacket This wasn’t the greatest Masters after all. Phil Mickelson didn’t allow it. In a final stunning twist to a Masters that seemed to have already went through every possible turn, Mickelson dominated the back nine yesterday at Augusta to claim his third green jacket. He put up a 5-under 67 without a single bogey and shot 15-under for the tournament. The Tiger Woods Re-

turn Invitational would not get its close finish, because Mickelson refused to stop dropping shots at the pin. Woods finished four back. This was arguably the most understated Mickelson’s ever been in his career. Maybe, he realized just how big this fourth major is for his place in golf history. And Phil did it — by winning the way Tiger used to win in his prime. CHRIS BALDWIN
