Greetings to dear readers of news@mpark! First of all, on behalf of the editorial committee, I would like to wish all Muslim "Selamat Berpuasa" and wishing you well during this holy month of Ramadhan. In this 2nd edition of 2009, we will highlight to you some fo the events and happenings within Metro Parking Group between April and August 2009. Among the important event was the Excellence Service Quality Award that has been awarded to Metro Parking (M) Sdn Bhd during the 8th Asia Pacific International Entrepreneur Award 2009 which was held recently. Another accolade received by Metro Parking was the the Malaysia Independence Award 1957 in" Star Company Category" by Selangor Petaling Business & Industry Association. These accolades certainly boost our spirit to perform better in future. We have also embarked on another cashless payment systems via introduction of MEPSCash at Bank Negara malaysia car park. This is another milestone in our quest to provide better services to our customer. You can read further in this edition. On our contribution to the public, recently Metro Parking Kuala Lumpur has succesfully organize a blood donation campaign which was organized by the Safety & Health committee and HR Department. We received and overwhelming response from staff and also public around Damansara Town Centre. Congratulations to those who have donated their blood during the campaign and congratulations also to the organizer of event. This proof that we at Metro Parking is a caring society. There are also other news such as sports clubs activities, branches news, new car parks, staff infos and other interesting news that we would like to share with all readers of news@mpark. We hope you will enjoy reading the news that we have prepared and before I end my note, I would like to wish Muslim friends out there "Selamat menyambut Hari Raya Aidilfitrii". branches news and activities EWRM REFRESHER COURSES This course involved the companies under Sindora Berhad. Metro Parking (M) Sdn Bhd was presented by En Amizi Shahrulizan Alias and En Mohamad Fauzi Saad. The course contents is regarding the new risk systems that intended to be implemented by year 2010 at all the companies under Sindora Berhad. The course was organized by Sindora Berhad and presented by JCIA Services Sdn Bhd (Group Corporate Assurance of JCorp) on 24th June, 2009 at Room 304, Persada Johor.

On 21st June 2009, Syoknya Rasamas Carnival was held in Persada Convention Center. Metro Parking participated with a booth in which promoting the season pass and sale of the club's souvenirs.

Care & Clean Program has also been carried out on 23rd May at Bandar Baru Uda Store, 25th July at Larkin Central and 6th & 7th August at the Site Office, Komtar. To carry out the cleaning work, the Komtar Car Park was closed on the days.
The talk was held on 20th August 2009 in Training Room, Admin Office, Komtar. It aims to provide the staff about the procedures of insurance claim.

Metro Parking India Metro Parking Services (India) Pvt Ltd had started the operation in R City Mall, Ghatkopar (W), Mumbai, on 27th March 2009. Once the second phase of the construction completed by end of this year, R City Mall is going to be the largest mall in Mumbai (1.3 million sq ft). The car park which we managed here is the “multilevel” type which consist of 8 levels plus one “open to sky” floor. Total number of bays for the two phases is 2000 bays, (800 for the first phase and 1200 for the second phase). The car park is equipped with the Skidata equipments, with three entries and three exits configuration. Since the professional car park management is a new concept in India, it became a big challenge to MPSIPL.

Smart Parking Management Systems Sdn Bhd on 16th July 2009 officiated its new office at 12-3, Persiaran 65C, Pekeliling Business Centre, Jalan Pahang Barat, 53000 Kuala Lumpur by holding a small gathering. They have invited Group MD, En Halmi Jasmin to deliver his speech and to officiate the new office. In his speech, En Halmi Jasmin urged SPMS staff to perform better and to achieve better results this year.

After a few months in discussion with KFC, Metro Parking (M) Sdn Bhd has managed to tie up on ticket advertising which worth more than RM200,000.00 for 6 months commencing on the 1st November 2009. Besides creating a new business dimension in parking management, space advertisement also offers our potential clients to advertise their products and services in one of the most effective medium of advertising which is the car park. ADVERTISING HAS ARRIVE AT METRO PARKING CAR PARKS Metro Advertising Team(M.A.T) is now seriously involve in maximizing car park space and facilities for advertising business. Various for products that M.A.T would offers to potential clients such as: Items i) Barrier gate ii) Ticket dispenser iii) Autopay iv) Wall v) Parking Booth For the start, M.A.T has implemented a pilot testing for space advertisement at Damansara Town Centre, Menara AHP and Jalan Raja Laut open site. Then, M.A.T are targeting to expand the advertising coverage in November 2009. SAFETY & HAZARDS TALK IN THE WORKPLACE AND EMPLOYER LIABILITY TO STAFFS The talk was held on 18/08/2009 in the Training Room, Admin Building, KOMTAR and was attended by admin and operation staff. The talk was given by officers from NIOSH and BOMBA.
KARAOKE SOUTHERN REGION Digging for new talents, the karaoke competition was held at De Fantasia, Larkin Perdana on 17/7/2009. About 20 staff had participated in the competition. "t is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can." SYDNEY SMITH
MEPSCASH MEDIA LUNCHEON To provide conveniences to our loyal customers, recently Metro Parking has introduced parking payment via MEPSCash system. Bank Negara Malaysia was the first car park to implement this system. In order to inform the public on the MEPSCash system, IPS Sdn Bhd the provider of the MEPSCash system has recently organized a media luncheon on 20th August 2009 at Suria KLCC. Metro Parking was represented by Sr Corporate Executive, En Izani Izuddin and Operations Manager, En Shaharudin Mohd Nor. It is hoped that we could further extend MEPScash at other car parks under our arm in near future.

safety and health column THE BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN The Blood Donation Campaign was successful held on Wednesday, 12th August,2009 at the Open Hall, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The Safety and Health Committee of Metro Parking KL cooperated with the Malaysia Blood Center had organised the event. The campaign opened to all Metro Parking's staff and outsiders. About 150 people have registered to donate blood to relieve the needs of Kuala Lumpur Blood Bank. In addition, KPJ Damansara has opened a counter for medical checkup such as cholesterol stage, blood pressure, BMI and also sugar in blood. For only RM15, anybody can get this checkup. The counter received encouraging number of interested people especially those who wanted to know the information on their health status. We in OSH Committee of Metro Parking, Kuala Lumpur are overwhelmed with gratitude by all the support we received in making the event a success one, especially the blood donors. Our appreciation also goes to En Mohd Fadzil Hadi, Puan Hamidah, Cik Nora and Puan Akma for their contribution in terms of preparation and monitoring of this campaign from early of the morning until the end of the campaign.
