From The Editor Happy New Year 2010 to all dear readers of news@mpark! As usual, we start a new year by wishing everyone to have a brighter and prosperous year. We, at Metro Parking, will put our hands together to achieve our common resolutions as set in the recent Group Pedoman Meeting held on 26th January 2010 at The Eastin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event is the main highlight in this issue of news@mpark. The management urges all our teams to stay together, in order to develop strength and to face any challenges ahead.

My Dear Colleagues, When I read newpapers in many countries that I have visited, there were always news and articles on parking matters. Most of the times, they highlight problems and issues related to parking which includes illegal parking, exorbitant parking rates, poor car park condition, insufficient supply, poor connectivity with other transport means, lack of enforcement, inefficient parking system, etc. Perhaps our business development and marketing department should conduct a statistics survey on the frequency of parking news in newspaper. The figure should be interesting! However the more interesting part is how we turn the problems to business opportunities. This is where Metro Parking should forward our solutions to all parking problems around us. Of course we have to be more creative than our competitors and we must be seen as Champion in the industry. Quality control circle activities, customers feedback system and staff suggestion scheme which have been practiced in Metro Parking will definitely make us ahead of others. Who knows one day there will be no more parking problems highlighted in newspaper because ‘ we have served the motoring public better !’. Halmi

his year, the event was held at Eastin Hotel,

Kuala Lumpur on 26th January 2010. Among the guests of honour were Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of Metro Parking (M) Sdn Bhd, and the Regional Managers in Metro Parking Group. The main agenda during the meeting was presentation of the company’s and respective departments to witness a performances. The staff were given chances to request explanation from the management on issues that they thought deemed necessary. The meeting was participated by about 200 staff. It is the company's tradition to keep all staff well informed on company's performance and future plans.

The meeting was held on 25 February 2010 at Hotel Mutiara, Johor Bahru and was attended by 100 staff. Following Group Pedoman Meeting, every region is encouraged to conduct their own staff meeting so that the messages and resolutions can get across to all levels of the organization.

Work Ethic Courses for new staff was held at 24th Floor, Admin Building, Komtar , Johor Bahru on 28th Jan & 15th April 2010.

On 17 January 2010 at Persada Convention Centre, Johor Bahru, 4 staff of Metro Parking, Southern Region was involved in “Catur Bistari” National competition as „Banker‟. They are Mohd Azhar Ahmad, Rafidah Sumadi, Zanariah Borhan & Rafizan Mohamad.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT (CENTRAL REGION) Human Resources Department organized a Bowling Tournament Trophy Group Managing Director of Metro Parking on 18th April 2010, at Pin Junction @ Cineleisure. The tournament was attended by all staffs from KL Office and HQ office. There were eight groups competing for the cup this time round. Department of Human Resources is also pleased of the willingness En Halmi Jasmin showed when he participated in the tournament.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT (Southern REGION) This tournament was held at Angsana Bowl, Plaza Angsana Johor Bahru on 17th April 2010. About 13 groups with 52 members participated in this games.

branches news and activities Development News System Upgrading Marina Country Club car park system was upgraded from Cash Card to Semi –EPS in Apr 2010

Intranet To facilitate better communication processes, Metro Parking Singapore recently launched our very own Intranet. The Intranet is four-faceted, covering communication means between site staff and office staff, information dissemination, tracking and monitoring of site staff attendance, and to provide paperless staff-leave applications via online forms. Staff are also able to submit their feedback to the management team directly and to expect escalation of senior management’s attention should the case not be resolved within a stipulated timeframe.

Feedback Management Program Installation of Barrier Gate System at Singapore Zoological Garden.

As an effort to further delighting customers with our services, we have developed a feedback management program to track and analyze all valuable feedback provided by our customers who have visited our carparks. With this active feedback system, troubleshooting of our software and hardware glitches becomes evidently more efficient, as the management team gets to receive all issues pertaining to system failure and lag sooner and will be able to respond to such issues quickly. With this system, customers will be able to expect prompt services rendered and this will lead to higher customer satisfaction levels.

Our Head of Accounts, Mr. Mizan Ibrahim have been replaced by Mr. Gerry Ong after a year service in Metro Parking Hong Kong. Metro Parking Hong Kong has relocated to the new office @ Benson Tower, Kwun Tong on April 19th, 2010.

branches news and activities DEVELOPMENT NEWS Metro Parking started its operation at Metro Junction Mall, located in Kalyan on Friday 23rd April 2010. The parking area consists of 2 areas which are MLCP (600 bays) and open space parking. The mall was inaugurated in April 2008 and has an area of 750,000 ft² (about 70,000 m²). Metro Junction Mall is one of the biggest malls in Thane district.

Metro Parking’s Sports and Recreation Club Southern Region held their 9th Annual General Meeting on 12 February 2010 at the Training Room, Admin Building and about 48 members attended the meeting. The purpose of the AGM was to brief the club’s members on activities in 2010. The AGM also aim to elect new committee members for 2010/2011 Session.

safety & health, audit and quality news Criminal vehicle theft prevention campaign On 4 May 2010 (Tuesday) City Landmark Management to Bit Police Complex Opening in Kulim Landmark Central, Kulim, Kedah, Malaysia. Guest who was present at the opening day of the Complex Manager Central Landmark Mr. Cheah Kheng Mun and the Chief Guest of Honour Kulim District Police Supt Ghuzlan Bin Haji Salleh and Police IPD Kulim for success together in the Opening Ceremony of Police Bit Kulim Complex Landmark Central. Opening begins at 11:00 am to 12:30 noon. Metro Parking has made a sponsorship of 3 signs to the Police.

Care & Clean This Program was held at Jalan Dato‟ Syed Mohd Mufti, Johor Bahru car park from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. About 25 staff give full commitment. Light refreshments and a lucky draw KFC coupon also provided to employees who are involved.

MANUAL VS AUTOPAY Starting April 2010, the car park at Damansara Town Centre, Kuala Lumpur was fully upgraded from 'pay at exit' system to an 'autopay' and 'central payment' system. This has enhanced the image and value of a historic landmark which houses many government bodies.

Auditor firmly believe that regardless of the level of fraud related technical knowledge internal auditors may have acquired through professional training, what matters most is their professional experience. As such internal audit departments need to have a clear strategy as to the distinct roles investigator and auditors play in the corporate governance structure. Any attempts to merge investigator and internal auditor roles into an “audigator” profile would not only be very costly but also would not yield the expect results as both profession required different skill sets and experience. A great deal of value will be added to the organizations if internal auditor‟s capacity for fraud prevention is enhanced through continuous fraud related professional training.
