Öncelikle, Winter Fest’te katılarak; onu yeni yılın muhteşem başlangıcı olarak yaşattığınız için sizlere teşekkür ediyoruz. İngiltere’deki “Living It Loving It”adlı poker organizasyon ﬁrmasıyla işbirliği çerçevesinde, 25 Şubat tarihinde 150 yeni poker oyuncusunun katılımıyla The Grand Live turnuvasını gerçekleştirdik. Üstelik, Mart sonunda yapılan ilk WPT National Event’e 315 katılımcı kaydederek, mevcut katılım rekorunu kırdık. The Winter fest Jan 2014, it wasn’t a winter fest, it became a ladies fest. We had a tournament of ladies team from different countries which just took over the show at Merit Poker. Andrey Pateychuk champion of the Winter Fest Main Event $145.472, runner up Omar Lakdari $102.071, Albert Diwan, finished 1st place with $16.762 in the “Last Chance Deep Stack” tournament. “WPT National Main Event” winner Timor Margolin with $130.600 for his first place finish. We would like to congratulate Ms. Songül Kaya for her new position at Merit Poker as the President of Merit Poker, we wish her, the best of luck and success in her future.

Thank you all for showing up and made our Winter Fest a great event as a start of the year, we launched a cooperation with a new poker event management company based in United Kingdom called “Living It Loving It” where the first event was held on the 25th February The Grand Live and was with over 150 new poker players in the room. We launched even our first WPT National Event at end of March; we broke the record of total entries in the main event, a total of 315 entries. This definitely gives us a motivation and inspiration to work even harder making bigger events, new ideas and market our brand worldwide, we are looking forward to see you again.

O dönemden beri, bir gün inşallah bende bu grupta çalışırım diyordum. 2013 yılının Ekim ayında genel müdürlük ihtiyacı oldu, bunun üzerine yapılan bir davet sonucu ben de bu ailenin bir üyesi oldum. Merit Poker olarak Orta Doğu’nun en iyi turnuvalarına ev sahipliği yapıyorsunuz, dünyanın da en iyilerinden birisiniz. Bu konuda neler düşünüyorsunuz? Texas Hold’em Poker dünyada hızla yayılan, büyüyen, özellikle gençlerin ilgi duyduğu bir akıl oyunu. Bu bir spor, beyin jimnastiği. Merit Poker bu turnuvaları çok başarılı bir şekilde yapıyor. I have been in this industry for 29 years, working as General Manager for the past 16 years. I have been working for Merit Crystal Cove Hotel for 6 months. How did you start working at Merit Crystal Cove Hotel? Merit Hotels attracted me very much during my stay in Cyprus. It is a very dynamic, fastgrowing Group, continuously investing in the industry and renewing its corporate structure. I had been wanting to work for the Group at that time. In October 2013 when they needed a general manager, they invited me and I became a part of the Merit family. Merit Poker hosts the best tournaments in the Middle East, and you are considered one of the best ones in the world. What is your opinion about that?

Texas Hold’em Poker is a brain game that is spreading and growing quickly, interesting especially to young people. This is both a sport and a mind exercise. Merit Poker organizes such tournaments with great success. Firstly, Merit Poker organizes them worldwide. It is a great achievement to collaborate with WPT. Therefore, I am very happy both to conduct and host such organizations. This, indeed, greatly contributes to the promotion strategy of the country; nowadays participants come here from many countries. They contribute to the economy of the city in their free time. I am very happy to see such organizations in our hotel growing and being perfected day by day. How do you feel hosting young population? It is quite pleasant. They are dynamic and active 24 hours a day. We attempt to ﬁll these 24 hours with various activities from our wide range of service. They get even more colorful in

We are currently providing the best service in Northern Cyprus. We are very assertive about this and renew our development nearly every day. It is a natural cycle; and under such circumstances, the guests become frequent visitors when they are satisfied with the services. As they visit us repeatedly, we get to know them better. And the services provided to them become more customized day by day. We see that many of your visitors prefer to stay in the same rooms. Could you tell us about the rooms? Our rooms are very nice and comfortable. Almost all of them have ocean views. We do not want to compromise on the

comfort. Our guests can even select a suitable pillow from the special pillow menu. All rooms have balconies overlooking the evergreen garden. They are able to enjoy the calmness of greens and blues from their rooms. Our guests are very comfortable during their stay here. We create custom services, directed at each and every person with the help of CRM techniques we use. For example, if you like your tea weak and without sugar, our service staﬀ will prepare your tea accordingly or if you like your meat medium cooked then your meat is cooked accordingly. If you prefer a feather pillow then we place it in your room even before your instructions. And we are very conﬁdent about our A La Carte restaurants. You host the most famous stars from Turkey and the world. Mediterranean Poker Cup’14 will be organized in May. You will also host the world-famous stars during this tournament as well as the most famous stars of the Middle East. Do you want to share something about your events and activities? We frequently organize concerts of the most famous performers in Turkey. Additionally, we bring the most popular performers of Lebanon when we mainly Lebanese guests, and the most popular performers of Russia when we host Russian guests predominantly to prepare very special events exclusively for them.

Defiantly German players, if we have a look at GPI tracks 6 players are from Germany in the top 10, Belarus for sure, they are the only country which is not losing money online while checking on pokerstars and full tilt ratings in cash games. This means basically there is no bad players. Every country in the world was in minus and only Belarus there was a plus sign on them. What do you do when you don’t play poker?

I love sports, I am semiprofessional volleyball player, I have been involved with sports since childhood, sports is a big part of my life and I couldn’t imagine my life without it, the only reason I’m playing tournaments is that I know there is a chance to get first place, there was a time in my poker career which I played both cash game and tournaments but I realized pretty quick that cash game was boring. In cash game you can’t have a goal, you are just sitting and trying to win money and same situation happening to you day in and out. With tournaments in any one of them you register, there is a goal to get the first place finish. Any last words you like to share with us? This is really funny, few years ago I was professional skiing and started playing with my friends and after that just home games until I got 18 and started going to the casino to play the cash games, after that I stopped with the skiing and start focusing on my poker carrier, for me poker is a sport, it’s a lot of pressure, metal, don’t have to make mistakes. Any famous poker player you have as an idol? Daniel Negreanu, I love his game and everything about him, I do have a big respect for Big Roger. A poker story you like to share In Caen 4 years ago, I am at the ﬁnal in a tournament and I didn’t have a look at my opponents chip stacks, 4 left in the tournament and I was in

position to push all in vs. small and big blind to steal the blinds. I pushed all in with 89 and was called from the blinds with KJ and K high wins the hand. That was a big mistake I made since I was in a very good spot, 4 players left and had the chance to win it all. Have you enjoyed your stay at Merit Hotels? It has been very beautiful, the hotel is very comfortable and the spa just amazing, and for poker players it’s just nice to have the beach. The food, the service, the staﬀ, everything has been great. I don’t have any special strategy , I just normally see the table, opponents and adjust my game there, if you are a loose/aggressive player LAG and there is a player who always 3bet you, you could do not much about that in these situations What is your biggest fear in the game? Inside the tournament. This is my first biggest series and when I normally used to play my first MTT’s, I had the fear when I had a lot of chips in the tournament, didn’t know when to push all-in in some situations, but after I few games I understood that I was playing a plus EV game, I have played poker for almost 5 years and now poker for me is like walking on your feet. I consider myself as a online grinder at pokerstars and full tilt and my status is a Supernova VIP player. Would you consider coming back again? 100%! I had a chat with Artur Voskanyan Tournament Director at Merit Poker he told me about a side bet story, I would be happy if you can share it with us. Yeah, It was around 18 months ago summer time, it was a usual Sunday, all of us normally play the Sunday million tournament at Pokerstars, he was playing it as well and it was still 1000 players left in the ﬁeld and he got busted. He asked me to buy some shares, because I feel you could win, I decided why not, he is a good guy and we have good relations together. Ok How much?!?! I sold them 30% shares for 400$and we made the deal. Next day Artur wakes up and notices that he is 50 000 USD richer, cause I won the tournament. For me it was the worst deal since it 400$ for 50000 USD, but again you never know what happens in a MTT. But it was good anyway, I earned good $$$$ Obviously you play online a lot as well? Honestly I don’t I feel I do play a lot, I am a bit lazy person, I normally play 800

tournaments per year, for normal players this is very much tournament’s, but for online pros, this number they might hit after 1 month or 2 months of grinding. I have a wife and 5 year old daughter and like to spend more time with them. What do you think about the all the side bets these online pros, Tom dawn, Phil Ivey and others. I believe these guys are having more gambling inside them as well, if players in general continue doing that sooner or later they will go broke, it’s a very easy way to go broke. Time being it is costing much more to run sites, to get more players you have to make much more advertising and different campaigns to get these new players and etc., rather than 10 years ago, the network didn’t have to worry about any ecology of the game, it was just running by itself, money comes always from the micro stakes and moves up in levels, new money was always coming in, we didn’t even need to market our network. It’s important to have games running in different levels to keep all kinds of players. It’s day 3 for you guys over here, some general feedback about everything.
