2016 Readers’ Choice Woman of the Year:
Adele Williamson Graham Adele Williamson Graham, this year’s Meridian Star Readers’ Choice Woman of the Year, established TAME in July 2012 to offer services to the local court systems for DUI offenses and misdemeanor possession charges. Since its origin, the facility has grown and expanded, offering Meridian and the surrounding areas a premier health and wellness center. Located at 7921 Poplar Springs Drive, the campus of TAME and A Point of Splendor offers a sanctuary for quiet contemplation, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

4. What do you enjoy about your job?
1.How do you feel about getting the Reader’s Choice award? I was shocked and surprised when The Meridian Star called to tell me I was chosen as the Woman of the Year in their Reader’s Choice awards. I immediately started crying when I thought about how my late parents would have reacted. My mother would have been so proud, and my father would have had a funny quip to say about it I’m sure! I feel honored and extremely humbled.
Everything positive that has happened in my life over the past ten years has been a direct result of my recovery from substance abuse. The very things that seemed so awful in my life ended up being the very things that brought me to where I am today. 3. What do you attribute your success to? My success is a direct result of my relationship with God and my wonderful parents.
My job doesn’t feel like a job because it is exactly what I am supposed to be doing with my life. Ghandi said it best, my life is my message. 5. What’s your biggest challenge? Learning to run a new small business in Meridian has many challenges. Each and every day is a new and exciting experience. 6. What do like to do in your free time? I love to cook, garden, and hang out with my
family and friends, swim and relax with my dog Scotch. 7. What do you like about Meridian and Lauderdale County? I love being a business owner in my own hometown. Growing up here I never thought I would want to live here when I got older, but now all that has changed. My roots are here in Meridian and Lauderdale County and I love it. 8. What’s one thing you think would improve Meridian and Lauderdale County? To revitalize the downtown area and make it a flourishing area that would attract new businesses to our community. 9. What do you see in your future? I hope to see TAME grow and prosper and to retire in Meridian surrounded by family and grandchildren. 10. Describe yourself in one word: Optimistic!

Billy Sollie Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie, this year’s Man of the Year in The Meridian Star’s Readers’ Choice poll, has been in law enforcement for 42 years. We posed 10 questions to the long-serving lawman. 1. How do you feel about getting the Reader’s Choice award? I’m honored that the vote recognizes the team that I’m responsible for. The day-to-day contact with the citizens I believe the vote represents. 2. What led you into your career? My parents. My father, Ethan Sollie, was on the Meridian Police Department and my mother, Evelyn, was Deputy Chancery Clerk for Lauderdale County. Their community service was what led me to this profession.
3. What do you attribute your success to? Always believing that we can do better with the job we just finished. 4. What do you enjoy about your job? The opportunity for me and my staff to be at the right place at the right time for that citizen that needs the assistance. 5. What’s your biggest challenge? Personnel. With today’s society, finding those employees that are motivated to work through the hard times while maintaining integrity and honesty. 6. What do like to do in your free time? Being with my 5-year-old granddaughter Jaylin Reece Sollie. She lives in Chunky.
7. What do you like about Meridian and Lauderdale County? The people. The willingness of the people to care for their neighbor in times of trouble. 8. What’s one thing you think would improve Meridian and Lauderdale County? I don’t know if there is just one thing, but I’d say building a positive self-worth for our community. 9. What do you see in your future? Having been in law enforcement for 42 years, bridging the gap between those who fear or show disrespect for law enforcement. 10. Describe yourself in one word: Driven.
