Mercer University Press Mercer University Press has published more than 1,200 books since its establishment in 1979. It publishes approximately 35 scholarly books each year, generally in the areas of religion, philosophy, Southern history and culture, regional studies and literature. University Athletics Mercer University is the only NCAA Division I private institution in Georgia and competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference, of which Mercer is a founding member. In the 2010-11 academic year, 67 percent of all student-athletes earned conference all-academic honors. The grade-pointaverage for all studentathletes for the year was 3.052. Mercer’s 15 intercollegiate teams include men’s baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and air rifle, and women’s basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Women’s sand volleyball will be added in spring 2012 as an NCAA emerging sport, and non-scholarship Division I football will return to the Macon campus in fall 2013. Other members of the Atlantic Sun Conference are Belmont, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Stetson, North Florida and South Carolina Upstate.

University Center The 230,000-square-foot University Center (UC) serves as the focal point of activity for students, faculty and staff on the Macon campus. Along with housing a full schedule of activities from varsity and intramural sports and wellness and recreation programs to social gatherings, the UC also serves as a place to meet, grab a quick lunch and catch up on e-mails. 18
