benton library media center 21st century research scholarship Purpose Benton Library Media Center’s 21st Century Research Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who exemplify traits of a 21st century learner, such as use of online library resources, deep inquiry, use of social media, and networked learning. Award 2 awards will be given for $300 each to the top 2 applicants. Award is presented as a check directly to the student. Preference is that the award is spent on textbooks and/or digital devices, such as laptops or iPads. An inspirational book of library staff’s choice will also be presented with the award. Due Date Applications are due on Friday, April 15th, 2011. Eligibility Students must have a GPA of at least 2.5 to apply for the award. Only seniors may apply for the award. Selection Criteria Students must complete the attached application. The application consists of demographic information as well as short answer essay questions. Proof and/or artifacts of research skills may be attached as needed. Selection Process Applications will be reviewed by Benton Library Media Center staff and evaluated according to a rubric assigning points from 1-5 (low to high) for each question. The students with the top 2 scores will be awarded the scholarship. Presentation of Award Scholarship will be presented at the annual Benton High School Scholarship Assembly.
